Avowed Enemy Bestiary#
Avowed’s roster of enemy types isn’t especially large, but the ways they combine vary a lot. The real difficulty isn’t how strong any single enemy is — it’s what to do when backline healers and summoners are supporting them at the same time.
| Marker |
Meaning |
| No marker |
Matches your current strength; handle normally |
| One skull |
Slightly stronger than you; prepare before engaging |
| Two skulls or more |
Clearly beyond your strength; raise your gear tier first |
Gear tier is the main factor behind these tags, not character level. When you see a high skull count, don’t grind it out — going back to earlier areas to salvage gear and upgrade a tier is the practical move.
Humanoid Enemies#
| Enemy |
Traits |
How to handle |
| Bandits |
Numerous, mixed melee and ranged |
Clear the ranged first, then deal with melee |
| Bandit captains |
Higher health and Stagger |
Fill the Stagger bar, then land the critical combo |
| Steel Garrote warriors |
Well equipped, disciplined attack rhythm |
High parry payoff — good practice for timing |
| Mercenaries and guards |
Usually appear in small squads |
Pull them apart and handle them one by one |
Xaurips#
Xaurips are the game’s most recognizable faction, stretching from the early game all the way to the late game.
| Enemy |
Traits |
How to handle |
| Xaurip warriors |
Mostly melee, appear in packs |
Area spells or crowd-clearing abilities are the most efficient |
| Xaurip priests |
Grant area healing to their allies |
Must be killed first, or your damage is wasted |
| Xaurip chieftains |
High health and high Stagger |
Control them before committing damage |
The Xaurip priest is Avowed’s most classic teaching enemy: it forces you to internalize “kill the healer first.”
Undead and Anomalies#
| Enemy |
Traits |
How to handle |
| Skeletons |
Numerous, resistances vary by type |
Check their weak element and switch weapons |
| Shades |
Appear suddenly, often tied to cobweb rooms |
Keep a fire weapon handy to clear the webs at the same time |
| Ancient ruin guardians |
Fixed guards inside ruins, fairly strong |
Treat them as mini-boss fights |
Natural Creatures#
| Enemy |
Traits |
How to handle |
| Spiders |
Come in packs and spin webs that restrict movement |
Burn the webs with fire for extra damage |
| Beetles |
Heavy carapace with obvious physical reduction |
Use elemental damage to bypass the shell |
| Delemgans |
Plant creatures that summon reinforcements |
Kill the summoner first |
| Delemgan gardeners |
Continuously summon glowing reinforcements |
Must be dealt with before the first wave arrives |
| Large beasts |
High health and wide attack reach |
Circle behind and hit the weak point |
Delemgan gardeners and Xaurip priests share the same design idea: leave them alive and the battlefield keeps producing new units.
Dreamscourge Enemies#
| Enemy |
Traits |
How to handle |
| Dreamscourge-infected creatures |

Use the wind-up to parry or dodge |
| Balarok |
A giant native creature of the Living Lands |
Treat as an elite fight; stack Stagger, then burst |
Bounty Targets#
Twenty bounty quests correspond to twenty named targets, generally stronger than the regular mobs of their region.
| Trait |
Details |
| How they appear |
Accept the bounty and travel to the marked area |
| Strength |
Mostly one skull or above; some approach boss fights |
| Rewards |
Coin, materials, and some unique equipment |
| Advice |
When you hit a progress wall, clearing bounties is the most efficient XP source |
Kill Priority in Combat#
| Priority |
Target type |
Reason |
| 1 |
Healers |
Xaurip priests and the like keep restoring their allies |
| 2 |
Summoners |
Delemgan gardeners keep feeding in new enemies |
| 3 |
Ranged units |
They punish you from high ground where you can’t strike back |
| 4 |
Elites and bounty targets |
Handle them after the trash to avoid being pinched |
| 5 |
Ordinary melee |
Clean up last |
Weak Points and Resistances#
| Point |
Details |
| Aim to see weak points |
Aiming a ranged weapon down sights marks the exact weak-point location |

The status only triggers when you stack the same element repeatedly, so don’t swap elements often |
| Shelled enemies |
High physical reduction — elemental damage works better |
| Plant creatures |
Fire pays off clearly |
| Undead |
Varies by type; watch the damage feedback |
