Avowed Quests Guide#
Avowed’s quests come in only two broad kinds: main and side. The main story advances in a fixed order; side quests spread out by region. What really needs attention is that the main story has explicit points of no return — cross one and parts of the earlier content close permanently.
The Twelve Main-Story Chapters#
The main story has twelve chapters, of which “Lifting the Veil” is an optional chapter embedded in the endgame region. Chapter order is fixed.
| No. | Chapter | Region | Key content |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | On Strange Shores | Fort Northreach | Shipwreck opening, learn the elemental puzzle, unlock your first ability |
| 2 | A Letter from Afar | Dawnshore | Arrive in Paradis and meet your first companion, Kai |
| 3 | An Untimely Death | Dawnshore | Investigate the case and meet Marius |
| 4 | The Animancy Method | Emerald Stair | Meet Giatta and enter the animancers’ town |
| 5 | Ancient Soil | Emerald Stair | Venture into the hidden depths, uncovering clues to the ancient settlers |
| 6 | The Road to the Garden | Shatterscarp | The transition chapter turning toward the endgame region |
| 7 | Facing Fear | Shatterscarp | Meet Yatzli |
| 8 | Shadows of the Past | Shatterscarp | A key truth inside the ancient ruins |
| 9 | Our Dreams Divide Us Still | Galawain’s Tusks | The point of no return; beyond it, some opportunities in earlier regions close |
| 10 | The Heart of the Living Lands | The Garden | Opening of the endgame region |
| 11 | Lifting the Veil | The Garden | Optional chapter, tied to the truth about the ancient settlers |
| 12 | The Siege of Paradis | Dawnshore | The finale, deciding the island’s future and the ending |
Side Quests Across the Four Regions#
Side quests are plentiful but never block the main story. The main entries are listed by region below.
| Region | Main side quests |
|---|---|
| Dawnshore | Mapping the Living Lands, Ladies Never Tell, A Precious Light, Call of the Past, Dawn Traveler, Armor for the Wilds, The Lost Suol, Escape Plan, Cabin Fever, Forged of Stars, the Totem of Just Rule |
| Emerald Stair | Mapping the Living Lands, Memory of the Depths, Offering of the Elders, Blood Debt, Relics in the Ashes, Judgment of Steel, Sinkhole Stroll, The Missing Ranger, The Rogue’s Vase, The Stolen Provisions, the Totem of Defiance |
| Shatterscarp | Mapping the Living Lands, The Last Cup, Don’t Look Down, Heart of Courage, The Wasteland Courier, Home Sweet Home, Fire in the Mine, the Totem of Revelation, First Clash, What Was Left Behind |
| Galawain’s Tusks | Mapping the Living Lands, Antidote to Fury, Watching the Watcher, The Relic Boundary, Homecoming, The Outcasts’ Home, Keeping History Alive, the Totem of Perseverance |
“Mapping the Living Lands” has one chapter per region, four in total, tied to a cartographer. Completing all four unlocks the matching achievement.
Companion Quests#
| Quest | Related companion | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| War Wounds | Marius | Involves his past and his people |
| Song of the Lost | Yatzli | Tied to the history of the Ekida settlers |
Companion quests aren’t independently numbered side quests, but they directly shape each companion’s ending.
Bounty Quests#
Bounties are posted on bounty boards in each settlement — five per region, twenty in total. Completing them has a dedicated achievement.
| Region | Bounty board location | Targets |
|---|---|---|
| Dawnshore | Paradis | Yellow Armband, the volatile Luandi, Larga, Octav the Firebrand, Nacib |
| Emerald Stair | Fior | the Xaurip pack, the Delemgan, Old Nuna, the Tranton family, Beldreno |
| Shatterscarp | Thirdborn | Kukae Maka, Koda and Dario, Captain Tago, Moipiki, the Xaurip chieftain Griesin |
| Galawain’s Tusks | Solace Keep | Kongasa and Krusta, Detu, the beetle broodmother, the Spore King, Urvarnau |
Bounty targets are currently the most stable XP source — when progress stalls, circle back and clear the bounties you haven’t finished.
Treasure Maps#
There are twelve treasure maps, three per region. Only by finding the map and following it can you claim the matching item.
| Region | Treasure maps |
|---|---|
| Dawnshore | Vodika’s Legacy, Captain Henqua’s Spoils, the Bluffing Cat Codpiece |
| Emerald Stair | The Practical Pouch, the Painter’s Regret, Shelter of the Earth |
| Shatterscarp | Arcane Cheat’s Robes, Seafarer’s Boots, Armor of the Dead |
| Galawain’s Tusks | My Loyal Shield, Arrow of the Ancients, the Hungry Blade |
Points of No Return#
| Node | Impact |
|---|---|
| Before entering the endgame region | Side quests, bounties, and totem collecting in earlier regions should be finished as much as possible |
| Key choices inside the endgame | Directly decide the ending direction and whether some companions stay |
The safe approach: before starting “Our Dreams Divide Us Still,” clear every side quest and collectible the current region still offers.
Length Estimates#
| Playstyle | Length |
|---|---|
| Main story only | Roughly 20 to 25 hours |
| Main story plus major side quests | Roughly 40 to 50 hours |
| Full collectibles and achievements | Roughly 60 to 80 hours |
