Avowed Map Markers#
Avowed does not offer one unified world map. Instead, every region has its own separate regional map. The map records the locations, beacons, camps and some collectible clues you have already discovered.
The Four Regions at a Glance#
| Region | Unlock Timing | Main Settlement | Major Ruins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dawnshore | From the start | Paradis | Wodika Shrine, Pargrun Cache |
| Emerald Stair | Around main quest chapter 4 | Fior | Naku Tedek, Ancient Cave |
| Shatterscarp | Around main quest chapter 6 | Thirdborn | Naku Kubel, Leviathan’s Remains |
| Galawain’s Tusks | Around main quest chapter 9 | Solace Keep | Mount Forja Mine, Lava Tubes |
Fast-Travel Beacons#
Beacons are the game’s travel points. You must find them on the map and interact with them before they unlock, and unlocking all of them is tied to an achievement.
| Point | Details |
|---|---|
| How to unlock | Walk up to a beacon and activate it |
| How to use | Open the map and pick an unlocked beacon |
| Relation to camps | Camps themselves can also serve as fast-travel targets |
| Completion check | Unlocking the beacons of all four regions grants the matching achievement |
Camps#
Camps are set up at the huge Adra columns that stand out on the map. They are the only place where you can upgrade gear, enchant, cook and talk with your companions.
| Point | Details |
|---|---|
| How to build | Make camp at an Adra column; the first one can be built as soon as you enter Dawnshore |
| Return mechanic | When you leave a camp you can choose to return to your previous spot, losing no exploration progress |
| Finding them all | Locating the camps of every region has its own achievement |
| Practical value | When you are stuck, going back to camp to upgrade your gear is usually more efficient than pushing on |
Pargrun Caches#
Pargrun Caches are storage facilities left behind by the mountain dwarves. Their entrances are usually sealed by breakable walls.
| Point | Details |
|---|---|
| Entrance traits | Obvious masonry structures, usually paired with red explosive barrels |
| How to open | Detonate the barrels with explosives or ranged attacks to blow the wall open |
| Rewards inside | Materials, gear and totem fragments |
| Opening them all | Opening the caches scattered across the island has its own achievement |
Strangled Adra#
Strangled Adra are Adra columns bound shut by some force. Every region has several of them, and clearing them has a dedicated achievement.
| Point | Details |
|---|---|
| Appearance | The column is wrapped in a foreign growth and is usually in an abnormal state |
| How to clear | Follow the prompt and remove the bindings with the matching method |
| Completion check | Clearing every Strangled Adra in all regions grants the achievement |
Ancient Memories#
Ancient Memories are spots that trigger memory fragments. They are usually tied to clues about the Ancients or the Godlike, and finishing them all also grants an achievement.
| Point | Details |
|---|---|
| How to trigger | Arriving at a specific spot triggers it automatically |
| Content | Fragments that expand the world view and the protagonist’s identity |
| Value | Directly helpful for understanding the main quest, and points to several hidden rewards |
Dungeons#
Every region has several standalone dungeons. Entering all of them has a matching achievement.
| Region | Dungeon Traits |
|---|---|
| Dawnshore | Many in number but short in length |
| Emerald Stair | Mostly caves and underground ruins |
| Shatterscarp | Includes the underwater Leviathan’s Remains |
| Galawain’s Tusks | Mainly mines and lava passages |
Rewards inside dungeons are usually clearly better than those on the surface, so do not skip an entrance when you see one.
Practical Sweeping Tips#
| Habit | Payoff |
|---|---|
| Zoom the map out fully on arrival in a new region | Quickly judge which areas you have not visited yet |
| Walk the cliff walls along the contour lines | In Shatterscarp and Galawain’s Tusks, most walkable routes hug the cliffs |
| Clear beacons first | Unlocking beacons directly cuts later travel costs |
| Buy intel items before collecting | Hint items tied to totems and treasure maps save a lot of searching time |
| Work backwards from the achievement list | Every region has collection achievements, so you can reverse-engineer what you missed |
