Season 15 “Hell’s Legacy” Highlights#
Hell’s Legacy is the flagship season of the Diablo series’ 30th-anniversary celebration. It went live on September 15, 2026 alongside patch 3.2.1 and replaced the previous Season 14 “Death Awakening”. Instead of introducing a brand-new standalone system, it brings classic settings and nemeses from three decades of the series back into Sanctuary.
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sinister Spikes | The season’s core mechanic. Follow the Dark Wanderer’s memories, defeat the echoes of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto across three questlines, then choose the spike that carries one of the three Prime Evils |
| Prime Evil Powers | Each spike comes with a reputation track; each track unlocks 8 activity affixes and 6 Prime Evil power upgrades that strengthen different endgame activities |
| Lucid Nightmare | A boss-rush collection recreating famous moments from across the series, in three sizes — multi-level pinnacle dungeons, regular dungeons, and open-world encounters — bringing back nearly twenty classic bosses in total |
| Soul Spikes | Eight demon gems socketable into jewelry; each grants one boon and one drawback, with up to three equipped at once |
| Legacy Uniques | Nine classic unique items permanently join the drop pool, such as the Stone of Jordan and Messerschmitt’s Reaver |
| New Horadric Cube recipes | Mythic unique crafting becomes predictable, targeted conversion, plus two new reroll recipes |
| Rebirth and Horadric Mail | Eternal Realm characters can convert into level-1 seasonal characters and start over; reward mail is delivered straight to the account |
The season journey has nine ranks and more than 125 objectives; completing everything grants up to 14 skill points, 42 Paragon points, and 10 Resplendent Sparks.
The Two Expansions at a Glance#
| Expansion | Launch | Headline content |
|---|---|---|
| Vessel of Hatred | October 8, 2024 | New class Spiritborn, the Nahantu region, the mercenary system, runewords, and the Dark Citadel |
| Lord of Hatred | April 27, 2026 | New classes Paladin and Warlock, the Skovos region, the Horadric Cube, occult charms and sigils, and War Plans; the level cap rises to 70 and Torment expands to twelve tiers |
Lord of Hatred also delivered a skill-tree rework aimed at every class: the old keystone passive nodes are gone, replaced by more fine-grained skill nodes that make tradeoffs between active skills freer. The rework applies to all players and does not require buying the expansion.
World and Regions#
Sanctuary is stitched together from seven regions. The five base-game regions were all open at launch, and each of the two expansions added one more.
| Region | Theme | Added by |
|---|---|---|
| Fractured Peaks | Snowy mountains and canyons | Base game |
| Scosglen | Forests and highlands | Base game |
| Dry Steppes | Badlands and gravel plains | Base game |
| Kehjistan | Desert and oases | Base game |
| Hawezar | Swamps and wetlands | Base game |
| Nahantu | Jungle and rainforest | Vessel of Hatred |
| Skovos | Mediterranean-style coastline and storm forests | Lord of Hatred |
Regions are connected by waypoints and your horse. Activating waypoints is one of the most cost-effective actions while leveling: it serves both travel efficiency and the later Whispers bounty loop.
The Eight Classes Compared#
A side-by-side of each class’s role and skill floor, so new players can pick their first character with confidence.
| Class | Role | Skill floor | Unlocked by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barbarian | Heavy melee blows, four-weapon arsenal | Medium | Base game |
| Sorcerer | Ranged elemental spells, enchant slots | Low | Base game |
| Druid | Shapeshifting and nature hybrid | Medium | Base game |
| Rogue | Ranged and melee in one kit | High | Base game |
| Necromancer | Minions plus bone, blood, and shadow | Low | Base game |
| Spiritborn | Agile melee, spirit guardians | Medium | Vessel of Hatred |
| Paladin | Holy front line, oaths and auras | Low | Lord of Hatred |
| Warlock | Demon summoning and curses | Medium-high | Lord of Hatred |
Beginner picks: Necromancer and Paladin are the most forgiving — minions and auras absorb a lot of damage on your behalf. The Barbarian is simple and direct but leans noticeably harder on gear in the late game.
Item Quality at a Glance#
| Quality | Color | Traits | Main sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | White | No affixes; early-game transition only | Any drop |
| Magic | Blue | One or two affixes | Any drop |
| Rare | Yellow | Three or four affixes; the base for tempering and imprinting | Any drop |
| Legendary | Orange | A rare base plus one Aspect | Any drop |
| Unique | Gold | Fixed rolls plus a signature effect; usually the core of a build | Specific bosses and activities |
| Mythic Unique | Purple | The strongest tier in the game; most come from lair bosses | Lair bosses, Cube crafting |
Item power sets the white-text base values, and Ancestral items roll higher item power. To judge whether a piece is worth keeping, check in this order: base item power → number of affixes → whether the affixes work together → whether it has sockets.
The Torment Ladder (I-XII)#
Lord of Hatred rebuilt the original four-tier Torment difficulty into a twelve-step continuous ladder. Unlocking it does not depend on finishing the campaign but on clearing The Pit floor by floor: Torment I corresponds to Pit tier 10, then one step every 5 tiers up to Torment V, and one step every 10 tiers from Torment VI through Torment XII. Torment XII is roughly on par with Pit tier 100 — territory you can only touch with a purpose-built build.
The ladder unlocks in order, so skipping tiers serves no purpose: rather than getting one-shot over and over one rung up, round out your gear and Glyphs at the current rung and then climb.
