Price and Buying Guide#
God of War Ragnarök comes in only two tiers — Standard and Digital Deluxe. The PC Standard Edition lists at 398 CNY in the CN region and $59.99 in the US region, with historical lows of 266.66 CNY (CN) and $40.19 (US); there is no season pass, and the free Valhalla DLC is already bundled with the base game — for most people, the Standard Edition is enough.
How much does God of War Ragnarök cost right now?#
Direct answer: as of our check on October 15, 2026, the PC Standard Edition lists at $59.99 in the US region with no current discount; no reliable record of a same-day CN-region live price snapshot was found, but a confirmed historical low is 266.66 CNY (February 2026 sale). The table below lists the main prices this site has verified — at checkout, the live store page price is what counts.
| Item | CN region (Steam) | US region (Steam) | US region (Epic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition base price | 398 CNY | $59.99 | $59.99 |
| Digital Deluxe base price | 488 CNY | $69.99 | $69.99 |
| Historical low | 266.66 CNY (-33%, February 2026 sale) | $40.19 (-33%, first in December 2025) | Check the store page and price trackers |
| Price on our check date | No same-day snapshot; defer to the store page | $59.99 (base price, no discount) | Defer to the live store page |
Four notes on this table:
- The historical low is not a one-time price. Since first appearing in December 2025, the US-region $40.19 has recurred across multiple sales — the price database still had it recorded in late September 2026. Miss one sale and you’ll very likely catch the next.
- How the CN-region low is defined. The 266.66 CNY figure comes from the February 2026 sale (ending February 24) and was cross-recorded by two Chinese media outlets; whether it is the all-time lowest tier has not been day-by-day re-verified against price databases, so the safe phrasing is “historical low as of February 2026”.
- The price-gap structure. The CN Deluxe costs 90 CNY more than Standard; in the US the gap is $10 — that money buys only cosmetics, a digital artbook, and the soundtrack, itemized in the next section.
- Same-day launch at the same price on both stores. The PC version launched on Steam and Epic the same day, September 19, 2024; both stores carry identical content but price independently — compare both before buying.
Which region is cheapest to buy from?#
Direct answer: by third-party price-tracker figures, the global lowest is Ukraine (1,699 UAH, about $37.84) and the highest is Switzerland (about $72.09). But the PC version requires signing into a PSN account, and it was once blocked from sale in 172 countries or regions — switching regions is not a simple “buy wherever it’s cheapest” question.
| Region | Standard Edition price | In USD |
|---|---|---|
| Ukraine (tracker’s lowest) | 1,699 UAH | about $37.84 |
| India | INR 3,999 | about $41.30 |
| Taiwan | NT$1,490 | about $46.62 |
| Switzerland (tracker’s highest) | Defer to the local store page | about $72.09 |
Three things to read carefully:
- This table is for orientation, not instruction. It tells you where the CN region’s 398 CNY sits globally; it is not advice on where to buy — cross-region purchases involve payment methods and account-region policies, at your own risk.
- The sales block is a real barrier. Because PSN coverage was lacking, the PC version was blocked from sale in 172 countries or regions before launch (May 2024 pre-order period); whether your account’s region can buy it depends on what the Steam store page actually shows.
- Price-tracker data is unofficial. The regional prices above come from third-party trackers (updated October 2026) and may differ from live store prices — the store page wins.
How do Standard and Digital Deluxe differ?#
Direct answer: the difference is all cosmetics, a digital artbook, and the soundtrack — zero gameplay content differs. The Deluxe’s extra Darkdale gear is cosmetic; there is no Gold Edition and no season pass, so there is no “buy Standard, then pay again later” structure.
| Store item | What it actually includes | Who it’s for |
|---|---|---|
| PC Standard Edition | Base game + free epilogue DLC God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla | The choice for the vast majority |
| PC Digital Deluxe | Base game + Valhalla + Darkdale armor and outfits + Darkdale axe head + Darkdale blades attachments + digital artbook + digital soundtrack | Series fans who want cosmetics and collector content |
| Epic Deluxe Upgrade (standalone) | Only the Deluxe add-on content, no base game | US-region players who already own Standard and want the cosmetics |
Four key judgments:
- You don’t buy Valhalla separately. This free Roguelite epilogue hit consoles in December 2023 and has been built into the PC version since launch, included in both Standard and Deluxe, with roughly 10 hours of content — it’s the biggest reason the Standard Edition is such good value.
- Darkdale gear is cosmetic. The armor, outfits, and the two weapon attachments change no combat stats and no gameplay experience; players buying for gameplay don’t need it.
- “No season pass” has direct evidence. The Steam store page’s DLC list has exactly three entries: soundtrack, Deluxe upgrade, digital artbook — none is gameplay content, and the Deluxe upgrade sells standalone for $10 on Epic US.
- The Standard Edition’s content is complete. Roughly 27 hours for the main story and about 55 hours for full completion (media citing player counts), with a story that has a complete beginning, middle, and end — it stands entirely on its own without any add-ons.
PS4 or PS5 version — which to pick?#
Direct answer: the PlayStation Store splits into three tiers — PS4, PS4+PS5, and PS4+PS5 Digital Deluxe — and the cross-gen bundle is the easiest choice: one price covers both consoles, no repurchase if you switch later.
| PS Store item | Platforms covered | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 Edition | PS4 only | Players not switching consoles soon and playing only on older hardware |
| PS4+PS5 Edition | Both consoles | The default recommendation — two versions, one price |
| PS4+PS5 Digital Deluxe | Both consoles + Deluxe cosmetics | Fans who want the full Darkdale look on console too |
Two addenda:
- Cross-platform carryover is console-only. PS4 and PS5 share save-level interoperability; we found no official statement of cross-platform save support between PlayStation and PC — players who buy both ends should treat them as two separate saves.
- The console versions shipped two years earlier. The PS4 and PS5 versions launched November 9, 2022 as the series’ first cross-gen release; the PC version was ported by Jetpack Interactive on September 19, 2024, with login issues concentrated in the port’s launch window and now much improved (see the reception section below).
Can you get it free with PS Plus? Is a subscription worth it?#
Direct answer: yes. From January 21, 2025, the game joined the PS Plus Extra and Premium (Deluxe in HK) game catalogs; members of those tiers can play it directly on PS4 and PS5. On the PC side, as of October 15, 2026, no subscription-service inclusion was found.
| Service | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PS Plus Extra/Premium (Deluxe in HK) | Included (from January 21, 2025, per official announcement) | PS4 and PS5 versions are in the game catalog |
| Xbox Game Pass | No record found | The game never came to Xbox — this path doesn’t exist |
| PC subscription services | No record found | PC has only two purchase channels: Steam and Epic |
Three tests for fence-sitters:
- Members: check the catalog before paying. If you have Extra or above, open the subscription catalog first to confirm the game is still listed before any purchase — catalogs rotate, and availability defers to the service’s live listing.
- Don’t upgrade a tier for one game. If your tier isn’t high enough, buying outright at $59.99 usually beats upgrading a year’s membership just to play this one title — unless you genuinely need the higher tier’s catalog and online benefits anyway.
- “Wait for it to enter a subscription” doesn’t hold for PC players. The Game Pass path never existed; on PC, waiting for a discount is far more realistic than waiting for inclusion — set a $40.19 target-price alert on a price tracker and be done.
How should each audience buy?#
The conclusions above, compressed into one decision table:
| Audience | Advice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PS Plus Extra and above members | Check the subscription catalog and play in-catalog | Included since January 2025 — zero-cost experience |
| PS players (non-members) | Buy the PS4+PS5 Standard item | Two versions, one price; no repurchase on console switch |
| New PC players | Steam or Epic Standard Edition | The base game is complete and the free Valhalla DLC is bundled |
| Steam Deck players | Steam version | Steam Deck Verified, plus “Best Steam Deck Game” at the 2024 Steam Awards |
| Own Standard, want cosmetics | Compare the upgrade price first | The Epic US Deluxe upgrade sells for $10 standalone; on Steam defer to the live store page |
| Waiting for a discount | Set a target-price alert on a tracker | The lows of 266.66 CNY / $40.19 have recurred many times — they will come again |
Why buying now is unlikely to sting#
Three fact-based judgments for those still hesitating:
- The payment structure is simple and final. Two tiers, no season pass — the paid content is visible at a glance; what you buy today is the same content you’d buy a year from now. There is no “upgraded version drops right after you buy” trap.
- The PC version’s reception has stabilized. The port was once “Mixed” at launch, but after repeated official stability patches, recent reviews sit at “Very Positive” (October 2026 check: 91% positive over the last 30 days). The black-screen and launch problems were mostly early-release issues; today’s buying environment is far better. For individual errors, see Crash and Error Fixes.
- The reception backing is strong. Metacritic PC critic score of 90; OpenCritic 92, “Mighty” tier — among action games at the $59.99 price point, this quality earns its tag.
What to confirm before checkout?#
Run down this checklist in order:
- Know your platform. The game is on PS4, PS5, Steam, and Epic — no Switch version, no Xbox version. Whatever you find on Nintendo or Microsoft stores is another series title; don’t buy the wrong game.
- The PC version requires a PSN account. First launch requires an online sign-in; after that you can play offline. On Steam Deck, account linking must be completed before the game starts, and your account region determines whether you can buy at all (see the sales block above).
- Verify what’s included. The Steam Digital Deluxe bundle is four items: base game + Deluxe upgrade + soundtrack + digital artbook. If you already own the base game, check the list before checkout to avoid double-buying it.
- Language and hardware gates. Simplified and Traditional Chinese interfaces and subtitles are supported (no Chinese voiceover); the game has 48 achievements in total (see Achievement List). On PC you need at minimum a 6GB VRAM GPU; the full five-tier specs are in System Requirements.
- The live price tag is final. Every number in this article reflects our October 15, 2026 check; sales start and end at any time, and the store page price at the moment of checkout is the final answer.
One last line: this is a finished game with stabilized reception, sitting in the subscription catalogs — the purchase decision isn’t hard; what’s hard is granting yourself those 27 hours to finish this Norse father-and-son journey. Leave the price to the price trackers, the edition to the tables in this article, and the rest — take your axe and set out.
All prices reflect our 2026-10-15 check; current prices, discounts, and subscription availability defer to the live information on each store page.
