Boss Guide#
Main Story Bosses#
Björn#
| Phase | Attack patterns | How to counter |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Hammer melee, area lightning | Block normal attacks, dodge out of red-circle lightning |
| Phase 2 | Flying charge, multi-strike lightning | Dodge sideways, use pillars as cover |
Heimdall#
Recommended gear: make the Draupnir Spear your main weapon and equip runes that boost stun.
Nidhogg#
| Phase | Key mechanic | How to counter |
|---|---|---|
| P1 | Hammer throws + lightning waves | Block the throws, jump over lightning waves |
| P2 | Flying pursuit + ground shatter | Use terrain obstacles, move laterally |
| P3 | Full-screen lightning + berserk triple combo | Jump timing is critical, parry the final hit |
Odin#
- P1: Odin relies on melee combos and thrown magic. Block his normal attacks and dodge the magic projectiles.
- P2: Odin summons doubles — you must spot the real one (the doubles cast no shadow). Area attacks can hit several doubles at once.
- P3: Green poison mist covers parts of the arena. Bait Odin into the safe zones to fight.
- P4: In the final phase Odin uses every move faster. Stay calm, prioritize dodging red-circle attacks, and punish the gaps.
Recommended gear: the Dauntless Shield (maximizes the parry window) plus gear that boosts cooldowns.
Optional Bosses#
Berserker Gravestones#
Universal strategy: use the “Nine Realms” shield enchantment (extends the perfect-dodge window) and high-damage rune attacks to clear multiple enemies quickly.
There are 13 Berserker Gravestones across the Nine Realms; defeating them all unlocks the final challenge, the King’s Grave. Recommended level: 7+. The universal strategy holds everywhere: use the “Nine Realms” enchantment to extend your perfect-dodge window and burn enemies down fast with rune attacks.
| Gravestone location | Enemy type | Difficulty spike | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Midgard — Lake of Nine | Twin berserkers | Two elites at once | Legendary materials |
| Alfheim — The Barrens | Berserker + undead | Summons add interference | Legendary enchantment |
Gná, Valkyrie Queen#
Key attack recognition:
- Wing dash: a fast straight-line rush — dodge sideways.
- Dart throws: they track you — dodge three times in a row.
- Stomp: marked by a ground red circle — roll outward.
Recommended gear: high cooldowns and high defense; the “Featherweight” rune improves dodge performance.
Elites and Mini-Bosses#
- Wraith: fast-moving ghost-type enemy — freeze it first, then kill it.
General Boss-Fight Tips#
- Use resurrection stones: buy them from Sindri’s shop — they revive you once mid-fight.
- Cooking buffs: cook at a campfire before a fight for temporary stat boosts.
- Spartan Rage timing — use Wrath form to heal at low HP and Burst form to deal damage while the boss is staggered.

Boss Comparison#
| Boss | Phases | Difficulty | Recommended level | Weakness |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Björn | 1 | ★ | 1 | None — a tutorial fight |
| Thor (first) | 2 | ★★ | 2-3 | Linger in leftover lightning zones |
| Heimdall | 1 | ★★★ | 5-6 | Spear detonations break his guard |
| Garm | 2 | ★★★ | 5-6 | Fire |
| Nidhogg | 2 | ★★★ | 6-7 | World Tree rifts |
| Thor (final) | 3 | ★★★★ | 8-9 | Counter windows after blocks |
| Odin | 4 | ★★★★★ | 9-10 | Spotting the real body |
| Gná | 2 | ★★★★★ | 9-10 | Dodge + parry loops |
Valkyrie / Berserker Counters#
| Enemy | Recommended strategy | Watch out |
|---|---|---|
| Valkyries | Parry the red circle → rune attack → create distance | Wing attacks — huge range |
| Berserkers | Let them finish their dash before countering — don’t engage first | Never trade hits during their hyper-armor |
| Twin elites | Use the Blades of Chaos to pull one away | Getting caught between both is lethal |
Practical Boss Walkthroughs#
Björn (Tutorial Fight)#
The first fight teaches the rhythm of parrying and dodging — the difficulty is very low. Note that his hammer wind-up is long, a great chance to practice perfect-block timing. When the phase-transition cutscene ends he attacks immediately, so stay alert.
Thor (First Fight)#
First-fight Thor throws area lightning constantly and the ground keeps leftover lightning zones that drain your health if you stand in them. The key is “three hits, then back off” — don’t get greedy. When Thor channels a lightning summon, Atreus can interrupt with rune arrows to open a damage window.
Heimdall#
Heimdall’s core mechanic is “reading” — he anticipates your inputs and counters them. The answer is patience: dodge to bait out his counterattack, then punish the recovery frames after it misses. He also raises golden shields — destroy them by throwing and detonating Draupnir Spears.
Garm#
Garm is a fast, hard-hitting beast boss whose weakness is fire. Keep the Blades of Chaos applying burn to shorten the fight noticeably. After his pounce he turns with a long recovery — a reliable damage window. After each phase transition he summons hounds to harass you; clear them with area attacks before resuming damage.
Nidhogg#
Most of Nidhogg’s moves have clear wind-ups. Memorize two: the double-claw slam (parry or side-dodge) and the straight-line charge (roll sideways). It periodically flies to a World Tree rift to recharge — glowing roots then spawn at the arena’s center. Attacking the roots drags it back down into a long stagger.
Thor (Final Fight)#
Final-fight Thor has a huge health pool and a mixed moveset across three phases. In phase 1, learn his hammer combo rhythm. In phase 2 he enlarges the hammer with lightning for sweeping arcs — you must jump over them. In phase 3 he goes berserk: prioritize survival, ride out the most dangerous wave with Spartan Rage, then look for parries.
Odin (Final Fight)#
Stay mobile for the entire Odin fight — never stand still to deal damage. Two key reminders: first, tell his doubles apart by shadows (the real Odin casts a full shadow, doubles cast none); second, in the final phase poison mist splits the arena — drag the fight to the safe zone and never get cornered.
| Boss | Core takeaway | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Björn | Learn the parry rhythm | Getting greedy and eating a triple combo |
| Thor (first) | Avoid leftover lightning | Trading hits inside lightning zones |
| Heimdall | Bait the counter, then punish | Mindless combos get read and countered |
| Garm | Burn him to shave the health bar | Ignoring the hound adds |
| Nidhogg | Attack the World Tree roots | Tanking the line charge |
| Thor (final) | Jump the giant thunder hammer | Getting overwhelmed in the berserk phase |
| Odin | Spot the real body | Being cornered by poison mist |
