Weapons Compendium#
The weapon system of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey revolves around three layers — rarity, stat perks, and engravings. Gear has no fixed damage numbers; every panel value scales with level. What truly decides a weapon’s worth is whether its unique engraving fits your playstyle. This page lists every verifiable legendary weapon in the game (unique engravings and how to obtain them), explains the damage scaling mechanics, and lays out how to pick weapons by playstyle.

Weapon Rarity#
| Rarity | Color | Perk Layout | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Gray | 1 perk + 1 engraving slot | Randomly rolled stats; transitional use |
| Rare | Blue | 2 perks + 1 engraving slot | Randomly rolled stats; early-game mainstay |
| Epic | Purple | 3 perks + 1 engraving slot | Randomly rolled stats; flexible perk combos |
| Legendary | Gold | 3 perks + 1 engraving slot | Fixed perks, one of which is the legendary’s unique engraving |
One of a legendary weapon’s three perks is its unique “special engraving” (turning normal arrows into fire arrows, for example), and it can be extracted as a universal engraving onto other gear; the other two perks are standard bonuses. Legendary weapons also outperform same-tier epics by a clear margin, and they cannot be bought or sold in shops — you can only earn them through quests, specific enemy kills, or specific chests. Non-legendary perk combinations are randomly rolled.
Weapon Type Overview#
Melee weapons fall into six classes by attack rhythm and reach; bows fall into three by shooting style. The comparisons below describe feel only — concrete values scale with gear level, and the in-game panel is authoritative. Move sets and combo details are covered in our combat guide.
Melee Weapons#
| Type | Attack Rhythm | Reach | Style Traits | Signature Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sword | Fast | Medium | Fluid combos, balanced offense and defense, most versatile | Blade of Damokles |
| Dagger | Fastest | Short | Low per-hit damage but lightning-fast, ideal for crit builds and brawling | Dagger of Kronus |
| Spear | Medium | Long | Long reach, lets you attack from safety | Spear of Achilles |
| Heavy blunt | Slow | Medium | High per-hit damage, strong shield breaking, ideal for guard breaks | Hammer of Jason |
| Staff | Fast | Medium | Wide sweeping arcs, clean combos with control | Rod of Asklepios |
| Heavy blade | Slowest | Large | The strongest AoE and pressure, ideal for crowd clearing | Minotaur’s Labrys |
Bows#
| Type | Shooting Style | Style Traits | Signature Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hunting bow | Rapid fire | Versatile, sustained mid-close-range output | Fanged Bow |
| Predator bow | Sniper aiming | The longest range, with adjustable arrow trajectory while aiming | Artemis’s Bow |
| Warrior bow | Multi-arrow volleys | Strong close-range burst, scatter shots | Paris’s Bow |
Damage Scaling Mechanics#
This section explains the underlying logic of weapon panels so you don’t get misled by “fixed damage” claims:
- Damage scales with level: a weapon’s panel damage is set by its own level. Inspect the same legendary at level 10 and level 50 and you’re looking at two completely different numbers. Perk percentages likewise rise with gear level and quality tier. There is no such thing as “this weapon does a fixed 305 damage.”
- Blacksmith upgrades: any weapon can be upgraded to your current level at the blacksmith for drachmae and materials. Upgrading only raises panel values — it never changes perks. So an older weapon whose perks fit your playstyle is absolutely worth keeping and upgrading long-term.
- DPS concept: the panel shows damage per second factoring attack speed. When comparing across types, DPS is more meaningful than per-hit damage — daggers hit low and fast, heavy blades hit high and slow. Max-level (99) legendary weapons land roughly in the 7000-8300 DPS range, with in-game values as the final word.
- Panel isn’t final output: actual damage is also shaped by your Warrior/Hunter/Assassin damage panels, engraving combinations, elemental buildup (fire, poison), and enemy armor and resistances. When comparing weapons, always compare at the same level, quality, and loadout.
Legendary Weapon Compendium#
This section lists verifiable legendary weapons by type. “Unique engraving” is the weapon’s exclusive special engraving — once obtained, it can be unlocked as a universal engraving at the blacksmith. The two standard perks scale with level, so no fixed numbers are listed here. For mythical creature strategies, see the boss guides.
Swords#
| Weapon | Unique Engraving | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Blade of Damokles | +10% all adrenaline gained | Defeat Deimos at the end of the main story |
| Xiphos of Dionysos | +20% damage with the Hero Strike ability | Kill Pausanias, Sage of the Cult’s Peloponnesian League |
| Gorgon’s Xiphos | Low chance to stun enemies on melee hit | Defeat the mythical Hydra |
| Xiphos of Peleus | +20% damage with the Rush Assassination ability | Chest in the Fortress of Artemisia on Kos |
| Harpe of Perseus | -25% all ability cooldowns | Defeat the mythical Medusa (Petrified Temple on Lesbos) |
| Nikolaos’s Sword | +20% damage with the Spartan Kick ability | Main quest “The Wolf of Sparta” |
| Pandora’s Kopis | +100% damage and +50% health for tamed beasts | Kill the legendary Nemean Lion |
| Prometheus’s Sika | +15% fire damage and intensity | Random mercenary tier reward |
Perk note The Blade of Damokles’ unique engraving is “+10% all adrenaline gained” — every source of adrenaline, from hitting enemies onward, benefits, making it a common sidearm for ability-loop builds. It does not provide a crit damage bonus.
Daggers#
| Weapon | Perks and Unique Engraving | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Dagger of Kronus | Fixed perks “+25% Warrior Damage” and “+30% Dagger Damage”, unique engraving “+40% damage from behind” | Kill Nyx the Shadow, Sage of the Cult’s Eyes of Kosmos (Acropolis of Athens) |
| Arachne’s Stingers | Weapon damage becomes poison damage | Random mercenary tier reward |
Perk note The Dagger of Kronus stacks Warrior damage, dagger-specific bonuses, and backstab bonuses in one weapon — with a high-crit build it’s one of the strongest melee daggers in the game. Nyx the Shadow has no bodyguards but moves extremely fast, using smoke to vanish and strike from behind; bring restoration items.
Spears#
| Weapon | Unique Engraving | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Spear of Achilles | +20% damage with the Multi-Shot ability | Chest in the Olynthos Fortress in Makedonia |
| Poseidon’s Trident | Breathe underwater | Underwater chest at the Temple of Poseidon, south of Chios |
| Hades’s Bident | +20% damage with the Ring of Chaos ability | Chest in the mountain fortress on Ithome in Messenia |
| Athena’s Spear | +25% damage and health in Conquest Battles | Main quest “The Final Battle” or “Nemesis” |
| Falx of Olympos | +100% damage, but max health drops to 25% | Chest in Amphitrite’s Palace, underwater near Anaphi |
Perk note The Falx of Olympos is the famous “glass cannon”: damage doubles while health caps at a quarter, and any hard fight can one-shot you. It suits players with strong positioning who chase maximum output. It’s hidden in an underwater location — mind your dive route and oxygen.
Heavy Blunts and Heavy Blades#
| Weapon | Unique Engraving | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Hammer of Jason | +20% damage with the Bull Rush ability | Chest in the Fortress of Mycenae in Argolis |
| Mallet of Everlasting Flame | Weapon damage becomes fire damage | Defeat the specific mercenary “The Smoldering” |
| Typhon’s Mace | +20% damage with charged heavy attacks | Defeat Exekias, top of the mercenary ranks and a Heroes of the Cult sage |
| Minotaur’s Labrys | -1 adrenaline cost for the Overpower ability | Defeat the mythical Minotaur |
| Club of Polyphemos | +25% damage against elites and bosses | Kill the Cyclops on the isolated island in Phokis |
| Blessed Axe | +20% damage with the Rain of Destruction ability | Kill Polemon, Sage of the Cult’s Silver Vein |
Perk note The Mallet of Everlasting Flame converts weapon damage to fire, pairing with fire buildup and ignition for sustained burning; the mercenary “The Smoldering” appears in line with your mercenary tier progress — track the target in the mercenary menu. The Hammer of Jason’s shield-break bonus makes it a fortress-cracking tool against heavy shields.
Staves#
| Weapon | Unique Engraving | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Rod of Asklepios | Converts crit chance into damage, but you can no longer crit | Kill Iokaste the All-Seeing, Sage of the Cult’s Heroes of the Cult |
| Hermes’s Caduceus | +15% poison damage and intensity | Complete the side quest “Set My Patients Free” |
Bows#
| Weapon | Unique Engraving | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Hades’s Bow | Normal arrows become fire arrows | Defeat the specific mercenary “The Pale Insight” |
| Fanged Bow | Normal arrows become poison arrows | Chest in the Cave of Zeus on Naxos |
| Artemis’s Bow | +20% damage with the Predator Shot ability | Hunt the Kalydonian Boar and bring the pelt to Daphnae |
| Achilles’s Bow | +20% damage with the Devastating Shot ability | Random mercenary tier reward |
| Herakles’s Bow | +20% damage with the Bull Rush ability | Chest in the Koinyla Fortress on Thasos |
| Eros’s Bow | +50% chance not to consume special arrows | Chest in the Andania Mines in Messenia |
| Paris’s Bow | +20% damage with the Ghost Arrows of Artemis ability | Kill Kleon the Heartthrob, Sage of the Cult’s Delian League |
Perk note Hades’s Bow and the Fanged Bow provide fire and poison arrows respectively — the base chassis of elemental hunter builds. Artemis’s Bow boosts ranged sniping; Eros’s Bow massively saves special arrows (like paralyzing arrows) for playstyles that lean on utility ammunition.
Legendary Armor Sets#
Legendary armor comes in sets — wearing a full set activates a set bonus, usually reinforcing one playstyle or elemental theme. Common sets and their themes (values per the in-game set descriptions):
| Set | Theme | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Agamemnon Set | Fire playstyle | Boosts fire damage; pairs with fire weapons into a coherent package |
| Artemis Set | Hunter playstyle | Raises hunter output, suited to ranged sniping |
| Pirate Set | Assassin playstyle | Reinforces assassination and crit thinking |
| Spartan War Hero Set | Warrior playstyle | Reinforces face-to-face combat |
Set pieces scale with level just like weapons and can likewise be upgraded at the blacksmith. Individual pieces are already strong, but the set bonus only applies with the full set — prioritize filling the gaps when collecting.
Weapon Selection Advice#
By Playstyle#
| Playstyle | Recommended Weapons | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Frontline warrior | Hammer of Jason + Falx of Olympos | High damage and guard breaks, or double damage if you trust your footwork |
| Ability warrior | Blade of Damokles + Minotaur’s Labrys | Faster adrenaline gain, cheaper Overpower |
| Sniper hunter | Artemis’s Bow | Predator Shot bonus; call out elites from range |
| Elemental hunter | Hades’s Bow + Fanged Bow | Fire and poison coverage, maximum damage over time |
| Backstab assassin | Dagger of Kronus | Behind-damage, dagger damage, and Warrior damage stacked three ways |
| Poison assassin | Arachne’s Stingers | Converts all weapon damage to poison; pairs with poison engravings |
| Mixed sustain | Poseidon’s Trident | A must for underwater exploration; a pass to exploration content |
Weapon Upgrade Priorities#
| Priority | Advice |
|---|---|
| 1 | Upgrade your main weapon to your current level so the panel never falls behind |
| 2 | Invest resources first in your playstyle’s core legendary (like the Dagger of Kronus) |
| 3 | Upgrade elemental weapons in earnest only after acquiring the matching engravings |
| 4 | Upgrade backup weapons on demand to keep drachmae and materials from running dry |
How Legendary Weapons Are Obtained#
| Source | Description | Signature Weapons |
|---|---|---|
| Location chests | Fixed spots — forts, caves, undersea palaces | Falx of Olympos, Hammer of Jason |
| Mercenary rewards | Mercenary tier progress and defeating specific mercenaries | Hades’s Bow, Mallet of Everlasting Flame |
| Cult hunting | Killing the sages of each branch | Dagger of Kronus, Paris’s Bow |
| Mythical creatures | Defeating Medusa, the Minotaur, and others | Harpe of Perseus, Minotaur’s Labrys |
| Main story rewards | Granted at fixed key story beats | Blade of Damokles, Athena’s Spear |
| Side quests and quest lines | Rewards for specific side quests or hunt quests | Artemis’s Bow, Hermes’s Caduceus |
Legendary weapons cannot be bought from shops or sold to them. Missing one isn’t permanent — most sources can be earned again after progressing the relevant story or leaderboard.
Durability and Repair#
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Durability system | There is no weapon durability in this game; weapons never break |
| Repair mechanic | No repairs needed — a weapon lasts forever once obtained |
| Replacement frequency | Panels scale with level; replace only when upgrades can’t keep up |
| Keeping legendaries | Fixed perks and many one-time sources make them worth keeping and upgrading long-term |
Engraving and Perk Recommendations#
Engraving System Essentials#
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Engraving slots | Gear of every rarity carries 1 engraveable slot |
| Engraving unlocks | A legendary’s unique engraving can be extracted as a universal engraving onto other gear |
| Engraving sources | Ainigmata Ostraka, defeating specific enemies, blacksmith purchases and upgrades |
| Value growth | Some engravings can be upgraded a tier at the blacksmith for resources |
Engraving Priorities by Playstyle#
| Playstyle | First Priority | Second Priority | Third Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Warrior Damage | Crit Damage | Fire or poison buildup |
| Hunter | Hunter Damage | Headshot damage | Bow charging related |
| Assassin | Assassin Damage | Crit Chance | Adrenaline gain |
There is no “universal perk”: for open combat prioritize Warrior damage and crits, add AoE and elemental buildup for crowds, stack crit chance and crit damage for boss fights, and bring utility engravings for underwater and exploration scenes. For how engravings tie into Ainigmata Ostraka, see the crafting guide.
Legendary Weapon Growth Advice#
Legendaries Worth Upgrading First#
| Weapon | Why | Upgrade Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Blade of Damokles | Obtained near the end of the main story; adrenaline bonus is universally useful | Ability-loop players should upgrade it with every level |
| Dagger of Kronus | All three perks point at the backstab-crit system | Assassins should max it to their level immediately upon obtaining |
| Hades’s Bow | Fire-arrow chassis, core of elemental hunters | Hunters should invest heavily from mid-game |
| Falx of Olympos | The extreme double-damage option | Upgrade and use it only after learning enemy movesets |
Handling Spare Legendaries#
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Extract the engraving | Take the unique engraving to the blacksmith for other gear |
| Keep as collection | Legendaries can’t be sold; even after extraction they remain |
| Set-completion direction | Full armor sets beyond weapons are equally worth planning |
Tip A legendary’s value lies in “unique engraving + fixed perks,” not in some screenshot’s fixed panel numbers — every value scales with level, so bring both weapons to the same level before comparing them. Crafting and engraving details are covered in the crafting guide.
