Overview#
The achievement list breaks down into four groups: the progression achievements that fall out of clearing the main story and each region, the skill achievements that demand a specific playstyle, the count-based collectible achievements, and the management achievements that ask you to max out one of the game’s systems. The last two are what actually decide your Platinum.
| Category | Difficulty | Missable |
|---|---|---|
| Story progression | Low | No — guaranteed by the main story |
| Combat challenges | Medium-high | Yes — you have to actively hunt them down |
| Collectible counts | Medium | Yes — must be cleared region by region |
| System management | Medium | Yes — requires maxing out a subsystem |
Story Achievements#
These unlock automatically as you play, including completing each Sequence, finishing the endgame chapter A World Without Gold, and wrapping up the epilogue. None of them need extra preparation — just make sure you don’t skip any cutscenes.
Combat Achievements#
Naval challenges are the most demanding group here, headlined by the achievement for sinking all four open-world Legendary Ships, which is also a hard requirement on the road to Platinum.
| Challenge | Prerequisite | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sinking every open-world Legendary Ship | A near-fully upgraded Jackdaw and all Officers recruited | The four battles sit in the four corners of the map; you must first capture the corresponding fort before they show up on it |
| Sinking the story’s sixth ship | Progress through A World Without Gold | This vessel is story-exclusive and does not respawn once sunk |
| On-deck combat challenges | Know your parries and execution chains | Best completed naturally during the main story |
| Wanted level and hunter chases | Fend off enemy Pirate Hunter squadrons | Running away builds nothing — you have to engage |
Collectible Achievements#
Count-based achievements come down to a single principle: clear by region. Markers only appear after you sync the local Viewpoints, so fully clearing one region before moving on saves about half the time compared to crisscrossing the whole map.
| Collectible | Efficient approach |
|---|---|
| Fragments and chests | Tied to the Viewpoint sync rhythm — clear them right after each sync |
| Sea shanties | Prioritize these; they come with real gameplay bonuses |
| Treasure maps and buried treasure | Pick these up early; the blueprints feed into the Jackdaw’s full upgrade |
| Underwater sites | The remake relaxed the diving requirements, and chests often appear in clusters underwater |
| Puzzle collectibles | Maya Stelae and Templar keys belong to two separate lines and never interfere with each other |
Management Achievements#
| System | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Officers | Recruit every Officer and see each of their questlines through |
| Forts | Capture the forts across every region, which also unlocks the secondary firing mode |
| Warehouses | Clear out the warehouses for the rare materials they carry |
| Underwater shipwrecks | Complete every shipwreck dive site |
| Fleet | Run Kenway’s Fleet and expand along its routes |
These systems overlap — a fort assault puts you right next door to warehouses and collectibles, which makes it the single most time-efficient line of work.
High-Difficulty Achievements#
| Item | What makes it hard | Preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Clearing all Legendary Ships | All four are faster than the Jackdaw, and a head-on slugfest usually ends with you sunk | A fully upgraded Jackdaw + Lucy Baldwin’s Perfect Brace + the Padre’s Ram Dash |
| Missing nothing in the endgame chapter | The chapter sits apart from the main story, and it’s easy to watch the credits roll and assume you’re done | Return to Great Inagua after finishing the story to confirm no mission markers remain |
| Full collectible cleanup | Some fragments hang in high spots, and it’s easy to miss one or two | Cross-check each region against the completion panel |
| Contracts | Assassin Contracts and Naval Contracts are scattered across the map | Once you’ve accepted contracts, plan your sailing routes in batches instead of running each one solo |
Easy-to-Miss Checklist#
| Easily missed item | Why it gets missed | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Optional main-story objectives | The remake removed mission replay | Your only options are loading an old save or starting a fresh file, so knock them out as you go |
| The four-takedown chain | Requires chaining takedowns immediately after a perfect parry, and the rhythm breaks easily | Practice on low-level enemies in isolation |
| The story-exclusive ship | Only appears in the endgame chapter and never respawns | Sink it the first time it shows up in the chapter |
| The second half of Officer questlines | The perk arrives midway, so it’s easy to assume the questline is done | Double-check once the quest markers disappear |
| Underwater sites | Some sit near unnamed islands that your route easily bypasses | Sweep them using the completion panel |
Platinum Route#
| Stage | Goal |
|---|---|
| 1 | Push the main story to Sequence 3, pick up the rope dart, and step up your stealth efficiency |
| 2 | Capture two forts to unlock the secondary firing mode |
| 3 | Finish the two Officer questlines that open after This Old Cove to secure your survival abilities |
| 4 | Clear collectibles region by region, alternating Viewpoint syncs with fort captures |
| 5 | Push the Jackdaw to near-full upgrade and collect every treasure map and blueprint |
| 6 | Sink all four Legendary Ships and bank the related achievements |
| 7 | Finish the main story, then complete A World Without Gold and the epilogue |
| 8 | Re-check the completion panel and mop up the last few items |
FAQ#
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does lowering the difficulty affect achievements? | No. The four difficulty settings can be adjusted at any time and have no bearing on trophy eligibility |
| Does the Deluxe Edition help toward Platinum? | That content is gear and cosmetics — none of it is a requirement |
| Do I have to capture every fort? | At least four are tied to the Legendary Ship unlocks; handle the rest as the achievement list demands |
| Do side quests count toward progress? | Some do, especially the management objectives tied to Officers and forts |
For pacing these stage goals, see the endgame content overview; for concrete naval tactics, see the naval combat system guide.
