| 1 | Three Major Cities | Each with its own role |
| 2 | Great Inagua | Edward’s hideout |
| 3 | Tulum | The Assassin stronghold |
| 4 | Forts and Sea Zones | The value of capturing them |

Three Major Cities#
| City | Power | Character | Main use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Havana | Spain | The first major city you see, dense with churches and plazas | Prologue stage, shops, tailor and taverns |
| Nassau | Pirates | The core of the Pirate Republic, a settlement of wooden houses and beaches | Story hub, crew recruitment, hideout |
| Kingston | Britain | A major city heavily garrisoned by British troops | Contracts, tavern minigames, infiltration missions |
The layouts of the three cities differ greatly: Havana suits rooftop routes, Nassau suits blending through crowds, and Kingston has the densest British patrols and the hardest infiltration.
Great Inagua#
Great Inagua is Edward’s personal hideout and the place where the remake’s changes are most concentrated. What was once a camp has become a base that grows over time.
| Facility | Function |
|---|---|
| Manor estate | Displays collectibles, including miniature ship models and other exhibits |
| General store | Sells rare and legendary gear |
| Tavern | Three minigames |
| Fisherman’s Dock | New facility added by the remake |
| Treasure Merchant | New in the remake, tied to the treasure-hunting thread |
| Other facilities | Some provide combat bonuses |
A steward at the manor ties the collectibles and construction together — a new narrative character added by the remake. The endgame chapter after the credits also starts from here.
Tulum#
Tulum is the Assassin stronghold in the Caribbean region — not large, but positionally important.
| Aspect | Notes |
|---|---|
| Function | One of the places Assassin contracts are issued, and a key story location |
| Goods | Has an exclusive shop selling Assassin-style equipment |
| Surroundings | The nearby jungle and ruins hold plenty of puzzle-type collectibles |
Forts and Sea Zones#
Forts are the nodes that control sea zones, and capturing one brings a chain of tangible benefits.
| Benefit | Notes |
|---|---|
| Unlocks the surrounding sea zone | Pressure from hostile convoys drops |
| Unlocks the second fire mode | A Jackdaw weapon enhancement added by the remake |
| Map markers | Reveals nearby convoys and hunting targets |
| Interior chests | Yield elite upgrade plans and rare materials |
The four forts tied to legendary ships are at Navassa, Serranilla, the Dry Tortugas and Eleuthera respectively.
Other Islands#
| Island | Notes |
|---|---|
| Misteriosa Island | The endpoint of Stede Bonnet’s mission line |
| Príncipe | An island city that only opens late in the story |
| Charlestown | A key story waypoint |
| Unnamed islands | Many treasure map coordinates point here, with animals and chests attached |
| Warehouses | Sources of rare materials; objective-wise, they belong to the same outpost category as forts |
| Waters around forts | Free passage after capture, with reduced hostile convoy pressure |
Underwater Areas#
The remake loosened diving from fixed shipwreck points to anywhere there is water, and the underwater area has grown noticeably.
| Type | Content |
|---|---|
| Shipwreck remains | Strings of chests and materials; one of the most efficient collectible areas |
| Natural caves | Passages and extra chests |
| Tutorial wreck | The first underwater spot the story leads you to |
Things to watch when diving: keep an eye on oxygen, watch for sharks, and confirm the nearest landing point before leaving a cave.
Visiting Order#
| Stage | Prioritize |
|---|---|
| Early game | Havana and your starting waters; sync viewpoints and take the first two forts |
| Mid game | Nassau and Great Inagua; handle story, recruit officers, run the fleet |
| Late game | Kingston and the four-corner waters; clear contracts and hunt legendary ships |
| Wrap-up | Unnamed islands and underwater spots; finish off treasure maps and collectibles |
