Weapons & Stances in Detail#

Two things in Mistfall Hunter’s weapon system genuinely deserve attention: first, every class carries two weapon stances - they set your attack range and mobility trade-offs, and in solo runs they stand in for your missing teammates; second, Holy Weapons form the one documented top-tier weapon line - tying “which boss you fight” directly to “which weapon you want,” and making it the game’s clearest targeted-farming motive.

As for weapon lists, damage numbers, and drop rates - this page won’t print any. The reasons are in the next section.

What This Page Covers - and What It Doesn’t#

Let’s be blunt up front. As of this page’s last update, none of the following has reliable public data:

  • The specific weapon name lists per class
  • Skill multipliers and stance effect values
  • Gear affix pools, drop rates, upgrade costs

The developers have never published any drop ratio - including for Holy Weapons. Every community percentage floating around (“X% chance on Y difficulty”) has no official source, and this page quotes none of them.

What this page does cover, solidly: the stance framework and the Holy Weapon acquisition chain with its risk discipline. For skill-level bindings, see the site’s Skills page.

Every Class Has Two Weapon Stances#

Mistfall Hunter has six classes, each class binds its own weapon, and every class carries two weapon stances:

Class English name
Mercenary Mercenary
Sorcerer Sorcerer
Blackarrow Blackarrow
Shadowstrix Shadowstrix
Seer Seer
Withered Knight Withered Knight

Only three facts about this system are officially confirmed, but each one changes how you play:

  1. Both stances switch instantly in combat. There’s no “go back to camp to swap weapons” cost - the switch itself is a combat action.
  2. Switching stances changes the range-versus-mobility trade-off. Far and near, planted and mobile - the point of stances is carrying two trade-off plans into one fight.
  3. In solo runs, stance switching matters more than any tier list. In a trio, teammates cover your missing range or damage absorption; solo, nobody covers you - your second stance is your teammate. Refusing to switch amputates half your tactical options.

What each stance is called and which weapon it maps to - this page won’t invent it. One look in-game tells you, and a made-up list only misleads.

Where Stance Switching Matters: Opponent and Phase#

There’s no universal stance answer. The test is always “who am I facing, and what phase is this”:

  • Clearing Corroded: against swarms of grunts you want clear speed and forgiveness; against elites, attack range and stagger handling start to matter.
  • Meeting other players: fighting humans is another sport entirely. Their footwork, spacing, and third-party ambushes can flip the range you need in an instant - switch too slow and your backpack becomes their loot.
  • The extraction phase: the bell-ringing window is the most vulnerable moment of the whole run - the bell rings map-wide, broadcasting your position. Which stance you’re holding and how far you are from the exit decide life and death more than your backpack’s value.

Also remember: there is no lock-on. The official store page calls it a precision free-aim system - every weapon’s hit rate depends on your own lead and prediction. The same weapon plays wildly differently across hands, which is one reason weapon “tier lists” are inherently unreliable in this game.

Think Stances by Purpose, Not Power#

This page scores and ranks nothing - the developers themselves have said that a class untouched in a patch is still under review, not necessarily balanced. But “purpose” is fair game. When choosing your main stance, think across these four dimensions:

Purpose What it means in an extraction game
Close-range tanking Absorb elite and boss pressure up close, buying room to loot and revive
Ranged damage Clear threats without closing distance; keeps the safety gap on the way out
Mobility entries Race for chests and extraction points, escape third-party fights - mobility is life
Sustain In solo runs nobody restores you; sustain decides how greedy you can afford to be

Each class’s two stances weight these purposes differently - verify the specifics in your own runs. The one solid piece of advice: master one stance first, then practice switching. A hunter half-decent at both dies faster than one who mastered a single stance.

Holy Weapons: The Documented Top-Tier Line#

Holy Weapons are the only top-tier weapon layer the developers have explicitly described, and every rule below has an official source:

  • Position: the game’s top weapon tier, carrying exclusive gameplay affixes - not an upgraded drop, but a separate equipment layer.
  • Each Mist Lord exclusively holds one different Holy Weapon. So “which boss you fight” equals “which weapon you want” - this is the game’s clearest targeted-farming motive.
  • The source is Cataclysm difficulty. The official developer notes state: defeating Mist Lords on Cataclysm is the most common way to obtain top-tier equipment.
  • On drop odds, official messaging says only “higher”. No ratio has ever been published. The Einherjar mode description likewise stops at “increases the probability.” Any specific number is fabricated.

Three Mist Lords, Three Exclusive Weapons#

Holy Weapons map one-to-one onto Mist Lords, so a farming plan is really a “who to fight” list:

Mist Lord Location Encounter type
Sálmar, the Cursed Moonwane Hallowgrove, near The Divine Anchor Dual-mage type
Otto, the Flesheater Brandrgarde main hall Beastly lunges, vomit pools, red/gold tells
Harald, the Fallen General Brandrgarde main hall Greatsword combos, execution windows

The killer detail in this table: Otto and Harald share the same main-hall arena, unlocking around the 20-minute mark (at Soekja’s warning). Before you enter, you must confirm which one is present - Holy Weapons are exclusive per boss. Fight the wrong one and the stats you wanted don’t drop, voiding the whole run’s time and risk. For full fight breakdowns see the site’s Boss Guide.

Einherjar Mode: The Only Officially Endorsed Odds-Booster#

To raise Holy Weapon odds, the developers offer exactly one lever:

  • Einherjar mode opened with the 2026-08-06 client update - a high-difficulty challenge mode for Mist Lords. Entry consumes a Dried Flower Knot, a legendary material that only started dropping with that same update.
  • The complete official wording on rewards: raises the probability of Holy Weapons or Holy Forging Materials. That’s it - no numbers.

Two widely-circulated claims that this page does not accept as fact, offered only as risk warnings: first, “use the Dried Flower Knot at the Mist Lord altar” - repeated across community wikis with no official announcement or screenshot behind it; second, “whether a failed attempt still consumes the knot” - equally unverified. Wait for official word or in-game confirmation before planning around either.

Risk Discipline Before and After the Holy Weapon#

Holy Weapons drop in high-risk scenarios, so “how to get it” and “how to bring it home” matter equally. Every rule below rests on officially confirmed mechanics:

Before entering:

  • Confirm you have a Soul of Return ready. After killing a Mist Lord, the portal sends you into the final Gyldenmist corruption layer - entering without a Soul of Return locks you in the deep end. Note the 08-28 update capped Soul of Return stacks at 1, making carry discipline even tighter.
  • Confirm which boss is in the arena. Otto and Harald rotate in the same hall - if it’s the wrong one, leave. Don’t brawl over a weapon that isn’t your target.

During the fight:

  • Once combat starts, the barrier reseals - there is no “fight halfway and slip out.”
  • After the kill you get roughly a 45-second loot window before third-party players flood the antechamber - your loot window and your extraction window are the same window, and everyone can see it.

After pickup:

  • Priority one is mailing it home, not extracting. Merchant Woodlings scattered across the map will send selected items straight to camp for Gyldenblod - without ending your run. Carrying a Holy Weapon to the exit and gambling on it is the classic disaster script.

The three exits decide which road a Holy Weapon should take:

Exit Interaction condition What you take out Meaning for Holy Weapons
Returner Woodling Kill it - it becomes a bell-topped Soul Tree; ring five times then press F to extract Full backpack The main exit, but the bell rings map-wide and draws company
Smuggler Woodling Spawns randomly mid-run; interact with no fight required Only equipment and a limited number of run items An emergency hatch, not the planned route
Merchant Woodling Scattered on the map; pays out Gyldenblod Items go straight to camp; you stay in the run The first move after grabbing a Holy Weapon

One-sentence summary: deposit first, then get greedy. For map and extraction point specifics, see the site’s Map Guide.

The Documented Stance-Adjustment Timeline#

Weapon and stance strength isn’t constant - official patches keep swinging. These are the update notes that explicitly touched classes and stances:

Date Change
07-30 launch patch Withered Knight’s halberd-shield stance buffed
08-12 Blackarrow, Sorcerer, and Shadowstrix nerfed in single-mode PvP encounters
08-19 Mercenary heavily nerfed; Withered Knight buffed across the board
09-03 Shadowstrix reworked (Phantom Shift and Free Talent windups lengthened; Flurry Strike now drains energy over time); Sorcerer’s Thunderstrike lost range falloff for consistent damage at all distances; Mercenary gained perfect-block staggers and larger block damage bonuses in Trio

The only point this table makes: the official nerf log is the honest class guide. Whether a class was touched, and how, is written in the patch notes - any tier list calling the current version “solved” becomes wastepaper at the next patch.

Unverified Weapon Data#

None of the following is officially published; this page fills none of it in. Defer to in-game announcements:

  • The specific weapon names and values of each class’s two stances
  • Gear affix pools, drop rates, upgrade costs
  • The three Mist Lords’ HP, attack values, and frame data
  • Dried Flower Knot acquisition details and consumption rules

To track when these land, watching the official patch notes beats watching community spreadsheets.
