Control: Resonant Boss Guides#
Control: Resonant’s major bosses are called Resonants. Beating a Resonant not only advances the story but also unlocks resonance abilities (see the supernatural ability system). The major bosses revealed so far are The Artist, The Dancer, and The Collective, each in a different district.
Because the full boss list and the full set of endings have not been completely disclosed, this page covers only the confirmed representative bosses. Others may be encountered step by step as the main story advances — defer to the game itself.
Known Bosses at a Glance#
| Boss | English | District | Related quest | Resonance ability unlocked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Artist | The Artist | Downtown | Orientation quest | Depends on your choice |
| The Dancer | The Dancer | West Incursion Zone | District boss | Push / Ground Slam |
| The Collective | The Collective | Park | District boss | Spore Burst / Growth |
The Universal Boss-Fight Framework#
Every Resonant boss fight follows a reusable framework: read the wind-ups → dodge and retaliate → build Falter → execute to heal → ride the Dominance window.
| Phase | Goal | Key point |
|---|---|---|
| Observe | Read the attack wind-ups and rhythm | Don’t rush in — learn the moves first |
| Damage | Build Falter with combos | Strike in the gaps between attacks |
| Execute | Execute once Falter is full | Heal while triggering the Dominance window |
| Punish | Bonus damage inside the window | Burst hard before the window closes |
The Artist#
The Artist appears in the Downtown Orientation quest and is your first major boss. The fight is deliberately tutorial-flavored, letting you get comfortable with the Falter—Execution loop at a controlled pace. Focus on drilling the rhythm here rather than chasing a fast kill.
| The Artist fight | Notes |
|---|---|
| Role | A tutorial-style boss |
| Goal | Get familiar with the Falter—Execution loop |
| Advice | Practice rhythm, not speed kills |
The Dancer#
The Dancer sits in the West Incursion Zone — the same district where the Shift ability unlocks, an ability that matters enormously in boss fights. Beating The Dancer offers resonance ability choices such as Push or Ground Slam.
| The Dancer fight | Notes |
|---|---|
| Location | West Incursion Zone |
| Key ability | Shift |
| Reward | Push / Ground Slam |
The Collective#
The Collective waits in the Park. Beating it offers resonance ability options such as Spore Burst or Growth, leaning toward the anomaly-debuffing route.
| The Collective fight | Notes |
|---|---|
| Location | Park |
| Reward | Spore Burst / Growth |
| Character | Anomaly-debuff oriented |
Using Shift and Gravity Anomalies#
A signature of this game’s boss fights is the use of gravity anomalies and Shift. Once Shift is unlocked you can change the direction and plane of gravity, walk on walls and ceilings, slingshot across the arena, evade area attacks, or attack from angles the enemy never expects. This is the core high-skill technique for boss fights.
| Technique | Use |
|---|---|
| Shift your movement plane | Evade area attacks |
| Vertical repositioning | Create new attack angles |
| Cross the arena | Create distance or chase |
The Execution Healing Economy#
The most important thing in a boss fight is managing Falter and executions. Because Execution is the only way to heal, and it usually relies on mobs as “health packs”, keeping some mobs alive as a healing source is safer than pure DPS. Don’t clear the room early — you need those “health packs”.
| Execution economy | Notes |
|---|---|
| Keep health packs | Mobs feed your execution healing |
| Time your executions | Execute when health runs low |
| Avoid clearing | Protect your healing sources |
Boss-Fight Checklist#
| Watch for | Notes |
|---|---|
| Observe before you commit | Reading wind-ups matters more than rushing damage |
| Make the most of Shift | Gravity anomalies are evasion and repositioning tools |
| Keep health packs | Mobs are the source of execution healing |
| Output in the Dominance window | Burst with everything during the damage-boost phase |
| Ability picks are exclusive | One choice per boss; a Reset Item can change it later |
Wrap-Up#
Reviewing Failed Boss Attempts#
Every failure is a chance to review the fight. Ask yourself which step slipped — a wind-up you misread, health packs cleared too early, or Shift left unused. Adjust for that specifically and the next attempt usually goes through.
Wrap-Up#
Conquering the Resonants is the litmus test of this game’s combat. Master the Falter—Execution loop and put Shift to work, and almost no boss will stand in your way. Every Resonant you fell also brings back a resonance ability that rounds out your combat kit further.
