Controls & Settings#
🎮This page covers control logic and platform settings. For exact key mappings, defer to the in-game settings on your platform; this page only explains what each item does.
1. Platforms and Versions#
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Platforms | PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S |
| Type | Single-player open-world action RPG |
| Subtitles | 15 languages including Simplified and Traditional Chinese |
| Voice | English |
| Rating | Restricted (adults) |
2. The Core Logic of Combat Controls#
Combat in this game has no traditional combo list - the key at the controls layer is “direction.”
| Function | How it works |
|---|---|
| Attack | Hold a direction and attack to designate one; without a direction, the system picks at random |
| Directional block | Block toward the direction the enemy’s attack comes from |
| Perfect block | Nail the timing while facing the correct direction |
| Dodge | Dodge left, right, or back; can evade attacks that cannot be blocked |
| Perfect dodge | Timing and direction both right: costs no stamina and allows a counter |
One hard rule to memorize: while holding block, your character cannot move, and the same applies to dodging. When a danger cue appears, release block first, then deal with it.
3. Assist Options#
If directional inputs aren’t your habit, the settings menu has matching assist toggles.
| Assist | Effect |
|---|---|
| Omnidirectional attack assist | No longer requires manually designating an attack direction |
| Omnidirectional block assist | No longer requires manually matching the block direction |
Turning both on lowers the combat barrier considerably. They are options you can switch on or off at any time, not fixed difficulty bindings, so you can learn the rhythm with assists on, then turn them off one by one.
4. How to Choose a Difficulty#
The game offers multiple difficulty tiers.
| Tier | Traits |
|---|---|
| Lower tier | Assists on by default; enemy attack tells are more pronounced |
| Middle tier | Standard judgment windows; suits most players |
| Higher tier | Narrower judgment windows; enemies read your inputs far more actively |
Difficulty can be adjusted at any time - there is no need to lock it in at the start.
5. Using Focus Mode#
| Use | Input |
|---|---|
| Highlight interactable targets | Hold the corresponding shoulder button to enter Focus mode |
| Zoom in and inspect details | For murals, altars, and similar objects |
| Assisted-aiming abilities | Used in combination with certain skills |
On console platforms, this function is usually bound to a shoulder button (such as L2 or LT).
6. How to Switch Between Day and Night#
You cannot change forms anywhere, at any time. To actively switch the time of day, you need to choose to wait at a shrine.
| Scenario | Input |
|---|---|
| Want to change the time of day | Find a shrine and choose to wait |
| Want to spend skill points | Also done at a shrine |
| Want to confirm which phase you are in | Check the sun or moon indicator on the interface |
7. Console Graphics Modes#
Both PS5 and Xbox Series X offer two graphics modes.
| Mode | Target |
|---|---|
| Quality mode | Dynamic 4K resolution, targeting 30 FPS |
| Balanced mode | Dynamic 4K resolution, targeting 40 FPS |
| PS5 Pro | Enhanced visual quality in both modes |
If stability is what you care about, Balanced mode is usually more agreeable than Quality mode; if you want visual detail, pick Quality mode.
8. PC Minimum Requirements#
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
| Memory | 16 GB |
| Graphics card | NVIDIA RTX 3050 / AMD RX Vega 56 / Intel Arc A580 |
These are the official minimum thresholds; the actual experience also depends on resolution and graphics presets.
9. Saves and Settings Advice#
| Item | Advice |
|---|---|
| Autosaves | They overwrite one another - don’t treat them as insurance |
| Manual saves | Rotate multiple slots, and keep a dedicated save before key milestones |
| Assist options | On first, off later - more efficient than toughing it out from the start |
| Difficulty | When stuck, adjust difficulty first, then consider changing your build |
10. Common Questions#
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can keybinds be remapped | Yes, in the in-game settings |
| Is there a big gap between controller and keyboard-mouse | Directional inputs feel more intuitive with a controller stick |
| Do assists affect achievements | Assists are a settings item, not a difficulty lock |
| Is there Chinese voice acting | Voice is English; subtitles include Simplified and Traditional Chinese |
11. A Reminder Before Closing#
The easiest place to lose out at the controls level is “holding block while wanting to move.” Remember that rule, lean on the assist options to bridge the transition, and directional combat will feel natural within a few hours.
