Practical Tips#
This page collects only things that are “useful the moment you know them.” The first few are pitfalls nearly everyone steps in once; the last few are the kind that save you hours once known.

Tip |
Why it helps |
| 1 |
Check Emma’s and Koo’s hunger bars at every rest |
As long as neither is hungry, health regenerates out of combat - saving piles of healing items |
| 2 |
Finish side quests in the moment, not later |
Zone side quests pay stat points and materials - exactly what the next zone is shortest on |
| 3 |
See wildlife brawling? Step back and wait |
Statue-type enemies and Blight-corroded animals attack each other; clean up the remains after they finish |
| 4 |
Never sell salvaged mechanical scrap |
It decides the weapon upgrade cap; selling it locks your own power |
| 5 |
Find a nearby camp and rest before a boss |
Camps are revive points; otherwise death means a long cross-country run |
| 6 |
Die boldly - reading movesets is cheaper than farming |
Death costs no experience, no currency, no items, and opened shortcuts stay open |
| 7 |
Unlock the full dodge roll early |
The starting sidestep is short with a narrow window - the most common rookie killer |
| 8 |
Change the voice language from the main menu |
The in-game pause screen doesn’t have that option |
| 9 |
Don’t count on water routes to bypass enemies |
Emma can’t swim; entering water bounces you back to shore with the enemy still waiting |
| 10 |
Don’t look up at the crescent moon |
The early NPC warning is real - instant death |
Combat Habits#
| Habit |
Why |
| Parry over block |
Blocking drains the entanglement gauge and empties into a vulnerable state; parries are free and pay resources |
| Red means dodge |
When the red flash appears, don’t even think about blocking |
| Send Koo out to fight on her own |
She handles regular enemies, so you’re not constantly doubling back to rescue |
| Open fights with a control art |
Restraining the main threat before engaging beats getting swarmed by a mile |
| Never sit on executions |
Poise full means execute immediately - it’s the hardest-hitting regular option |
| One exchange at a time |
Especially against fast humanoid opponents; combo greed is a donation |
Resource Habits#
| Habit |
Explanation |
| Unlock first, numbers second |
Stat points spent crossing skill thresholds beat pushing one stat higher |
| Spirit stones: get some before getting good |
Affixes are random drops you won’t complete soon; resource-type stones hold the line for now |
| Don’t repeatedly upgrade low-tier gear |
Mid-game replacements would waste the materials |
| No manual overflow cleanup |
It auto-converts to currency after the update |
| Sell duplicate talismans |
A later version added selling, but confirm your build before liquidating |
| Sweep side paths on entering every new zone |
Late-game material gaps almost always trace back to main-road-only early play |
Exploration Habits#
| Habit |
Explanation |
| Try the braid first |
It bridges gaps and scales heights; many crossings that look impossible are actually passable |
| Read every guardian statue on sight |
Thirty statues are the cheapest door into the lore, at nearly zero cost |
| Mark chests, return with keys |
Working out how to open a keyless chest is a pure time sink |
| Harvest back at base often |
Once the food supply stabilizes, sustain pressure drops noticeably |
A Copyable Early Routine#
- Enter the new zone, push the main road, and activate every camp along the way.
- After each camp activation, sweep the surrounding side paths, grabbing materials and collectibles in passing.
- Clear the side quests on the spot, then handle the zone boss.
- Before the boss fight, rest back at camp and check hunger bars.
- After the win, plant a batch of seeds back at base, then move into the next zone.
There’s zero cleverness in this routine, but it permanently resolves the three easiest ways to lose here: material gaps, side quest pileup, and far-away revive points.

If You’re Stuck, Check in This Order#
| Order |
Check |
Why |
| 1 |
Are upgrades stuck at the cap |
The most common “I tried so hard but got no stronger” |
| 2 |
Does Koo have only one art |
The loop never closes and damage windows never open |
| 3 |
Are all stat points in one bucket |
Thresholds uncrossed, usable moveset unchanged |
| 4 |
Do spirit stones have resource affixes |
FP starves and commands can’t be used |
| 5 |
Is the camera distance right |
Unreadable windups tank parry success |
| 6 |
Is the full dodge roll still missing |
The starting sidestep is too short - the main cause of getting surrounded |
| 7 |
Are the zone side quests cleared |
Stat point and material gaps mostly trace back here |
| 8 |
Was a camp found before the boss |
A distant revive point magnifies frustration |
| 9 |
Is the stone setup pure attack |
Under survival pressure, damage reduction beats damage |
| 10 |
Are you holding block to survive |
The entanglement gauge drains dry into a vulnerable state |
These ten cover the overwhelming majority of “stuck” scenarios. Run them in order and the cause usually shows up within the first three.
One Mindset Note Beyond the Ten#
Death here costs almost nothing, and that fact should change how you play:
| Common instinct |
The better trade |
| Grind levels before the boss |
Just go fight once - read the moves, don’t swing back |
| Stockpile items before a new zone |
Reach the new camp first and push the revive point forward |
| Avoid every group of enemies on sight |
Try one pass with a control art first |
| Quit when it gets too hard |
Run the ten checks above - usually the system just isn’t aligned yet |
To date, this framework has never changed: read the rhythm, keep Koo involved, waste nothing.
