Builds Guide#
This chapter distills field-tested build paths from the game’s 6 stats (Strength, Runics, Defense, Vitality, Luck, Cooldown) and the real effects of 17 talismans. There is no class system in this game — a “build” is simply a pairing of stat focus and talisman choice.
Build Overview#
| Build | Core stats | Core talisman | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strength warrior | Strength | Talisman of Golden Protection | All-around play, boss fights |
| Runic cooldown | Runics + Cooldown | Talisman of Unbound Potential | Skill-rotation damage |
| Defense survival | Defense + Vitality | Aegir’s Protection | High difficulty, Valkyries |
| Dodge time-slow | Defense + Vitality | Amulet of Kvasir | Safe play, new players |
| Endgame exploration | Mixed | Hvergelmir Stone | Niflheim maze |
| NG+ all-rounder | Mixed | Swap per scenario | NG+ pressure fights |
Build 1: Strength Warrior#
Core Idea#
Maximize Strength and lean on normal attacks and skill combos. Strength directly boosts all normal attack damage — the simplest and most effective dump stat, useful from start to finish.
Key Points#
| Item | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Stat focus | Strength first, with a floor of Defense and Vitality |
| Talisman | Talisman of Golden Protection (wider block window, big defense boost while blocking) |
| Weapon play | Open with axe heavies, chain into light-attack strings |
| Skill direction | Buy combo and damage skills first |
Play Advice#
The core discipline of the Strength build is “don’t overstay” — even with huge Strength, one enemy combo will shred you. Two hits, one step back, and use perfect parries to open damage windows: that rhythm holds from the early game all the way to the Valkyries.
Build 2: Runic Cooldown#
Core Idea#
Stack Runics and Cooldown so runic attacks fire on near-permanent rotation, replacing normal attacks with skills. Cooldown around 200+ enables “seamless four-runic rotation” — alternating the axe’s two slots with the blades’ two slots means a skill is almost always active.
Core Talisman#
Talisman of Unbound Potential: its active instantly refreshes all runic attack cooldowns, and its passive boosts the Runics stat while runic attacks are on cooldown — the soul item of this build, obtainable by mid game.
Recommended Runic Attacks#
All 37 runics (31 runic attacks + 6 runic summons) are listed in the compendium chapter. These are the community-recognized high-yield picks per slot:
| Slot | Runic | Trait |
|---|---|---|
| Axe light | Hel’s Touch | Quick burst, interrupts enemies |
| Axe heavy | Breath of Thamur | Huge AoE damage |
| Axe heavy | Glaive Storm | Auto-targeting axe storm |
| Blades light | Cyclone of Chaos | Spinning AoE clear |
| Blades heavy | Hyperion Grapple | Long-range lunge |
| Blades heavy | Prometheus Flame | High-multiplier single burst |
Skill Rotation#
Axe light runic → axe heavy runic → swap to blades → blades light runic → blades heavy runic → fill gaps with normal attacks when cooldown runs dryFill the cooldown gaps with normal attacks, and keep the talisman active as an emergency burst or a second refresh.
Build 3: Defense Survival#
Core Idea#
Stack Defense and Vitality and win through blocking, counters and endurance. Built for high difficulty and Valkyrie fights — their combos hit so hard that a low-Defense character goes down in two or three hits.
Key Points#
| Item | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Stat focus | Defense top priority, Vitality for max HP |
| Talisman | Aegir’s Protection — a small ward that prevents interruptions and reduces damage |
| Alternate talisman | Talisman of Golden Protection (block-focused route) |
| Play core | Perfect parry is the survival foundation; all damage comes from parry counters and runics |
Play Advice#
The defense build doesn’t chase burst — it chases “never dying”. With high Defense, normal attacks stop being scary, and what’s left to learn is perfect-parry timing. Every Valkyrie and troll attack can be blocked or dodged — read the wind-up and you win.
Build 4: Dodge Time-Slow#
Core Idea#
Built around the “last-second dodge triggers time slow” mechanic, using dodges instead of blocks as the main defense — extremely forgiving, perfect for new players and cautious play.
Core Talisman#
Amulet of Kvasir: a last-second dodge triggers Realm Shift, briefly slowing nearby enemies; upgrades extend the duration. At max upgrade you can also trade for the “Perfect Kvasir” enchantment.
Talisman of the Realms: actively releases a Realm Shift to slow enemies — same family as Kvasir; pick one based on your slot needs.
Play Advice#
The key skill here is timing the “last-second dodge” — sidestep the instant an attack is about to connect, then damage freely while time is slowed. Dodge play doesn’t need Defense investment, so resources flow into Strength or Runics instead.
Build 5: Endgame Exploration#
Core Idea#
Tuned for the Niflheim maze’s “Cursed Mist”: inside the mist your health constantly drains and your stay is time-limited. Here, mist-related gear and talisman effects outrank offensive stats.
Key Points#
| Item | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Armor | Ivaldi’s Mist set (forged in Niflheim, with built-in mist-endurance boosts) |
| Talisman | Hvergelmir Stone — summons a healing mist and extends your time inside the Cursed Mist |
| Goal | Trade maze Mist Echoes for higher-tier gear and snowball |
Play Advice#
Niflheim is a “enter — collect — exit” loop. Plan your room route before every run and leave when the mist bar passes half — never get greedy for the last chest. Once your gear matures, maze returns climb steadily.
Build 6: NG+ All-Rounder#
Core Idea#
In New Game+, fully upgraded talismans open 3 enchantment slots and gear freedom expands while enemy strength climbs across the board. No single build covers everything — swap talismans and gear per scenario.
| Scenario | Recommended swap |
|---|---|
| Clearing trash | Runic cooldown build + Cyclone of Chaos / Breath of Thamur |
| Valkyries and bosses | Defense survival or dodge time-slow |
| Maze runs | Endgame exploration build |
| Seamless skill coverage | Talisman of Unbound Potential + max Cooldown |
