Enemy Compendium#
The enemies in 007 First Light are not “a pile of health bars” but an opponent system with tiers, perception, and a chain of reactions. Most of what you face are trained security and agents, not mindless chargers — which is exactly why the game rewards “observe first, act second”.
Note: this game’s enemies are built on “humans + tiers + perception” rather than a flashy bestiary of monsters. This page groups them by functional tier instead of inventing specific names.
1. Enemy Tiers#
| Tier | Traits | Perception | How to Handle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinary guards | The most numerous; patrol fixed routes | Normal vision, easy to distract and pull away | Dart Phone diversion, rear takedowns, environmental kills |
| Elite guards | Better equipped, more alert | Sensitive to noise and unusual behavior | Silence them first, or route around |
| Officers / senior personnel | Few in number, usually holding key areas | Can see through basic disguises | Don’t count on a costume change — use a higher-tier identity or another route |
| Armored units | Shrug off ordinary firearms | No special perception, but hard to suppress | Missile Pen, Impact Camera, environmental explosives, leg shots |
| Bosses | Appear in specific chapter duels | Driven by the plot | See the boss guide page |
2. Disguises and Detection#
The game has a “disguise” system: putting on the right uniform grants access to some restricted areas. But it is not a universal pass:
- Ordinary guards may grow suspicious of a “colleague they don’t recognize”;
- Officers and senior staff can see straight through low-tier disguises;
- Acting suspiciously while in disguise (lockpicking, climbing, fighting) exposes you instantly.
Practical principle: a disguise gets you “through the door”, but what really keeps you safe is knowing who is watching and who is in charge.
3. Awareness and Alert Escalation#
Enemy reactions come in stages, which gives you windows to recover:
| State | Behavior | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Unaware | Patrolling normally | Move freely |
| Suspicious | Comes over to check and question | Bluff your way out, exit, or act first |
| Spotted / alarm | Group searches, calls for support | Smoke grenade exit, or a forced firefight |
Key insight: between “suspicious” and “alarm” there is usually one more chance to fix things. Spending Instinct on a bluff here is far cheaper than getting physical.
4. Counter Quick Reference#
| Tool | Works On | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Q-Scope marking | Everyone | Know where the enemies are before deciding whether to fight |
| Dart Phone | Ordinary/elite guards | Pull the target off post, creating windows for takedowns |
| Smoke grenades | Everyone (for escapes) | Cut line of sight and go invisible again |
| Impact Camera | Groups and armor | Knockback and armor shattering |
| Flash grenades | Patrols | A placed trap that blinds on approach |
| Missile Pen | Armored units and groups | High power — save it for the hardest targets |
| Environmental objects | Everyone | Fire extinguishers, chandeliers, electrified floors, oil drums |
5. Melee Handling by Enemy Type#
- Isolated ordinary guards: a rear takedown is cleanest — hide the body afterward;
- Patrolling elites: use the Dart Phone or noise to pull them away before you move in;
- Officers: they see through disguises — avoid meeting them at all and route around;
- Armored units: don’t grind them down with an ordinary pistol — prioritize explosives or leg shots to bring them down.
6. Enemy Behavior in Firefights#
Once a firefight starts, enemies will:
- Advance using cover;
- Attempt flanking maneuvers (more pronounced on higher difficulties);
- Call for support and trigger area alarms.
So your first choice in any firefight is always “reposition”, not “trade shots”. Fall back to a spot with cover and an escape route, then decide whether to keep fighting or break contact with smoke.
7. Common Mistakes#
| Mistake | Consequence | Correct Approach |
|---|---|---|
| Wearing a low-tier disguise into officer areas | Seen through on the spot | Change routes, or find a higher-tier identity |
| Not hiding bodies after takedowns | A patrol finds them and raises the alarm | Hide bodies nearby or clear the area before pushing on |
| Getting physical the moment you’re made | The situation escalates into a firefight | Try bluffing your way out first |
| Shooting pistols at armored units | Losing both ammo and time | Use explosives or leg shots |
| Trading shots in the open | Pincered from several sides | Move to a covered position |
8. Enemy Composition by Stage#
| Stage | Enemy Mix | Handling Tendency |
|---|---|---|
| Prologue (Iceland) | A few armed men | Tutorial-flavored, low perception — practice the basics first |
| Training (Malta) | Mostly training scenarios | Get familiar with the systems and the assembly loop |
| Large sandbox (Slovakia) | Multi-tier guards + elites | Complex routes and tiers — scout first |
| Black market (Mauritania) | Mixed crowds and security | Social stealth carries a lot of weight |
| Dinner party (London) | Plainclothes mixed with security | Disguises and detection are the focus |
| Corporate / research facilities | Elites and armored units increase | Silence first; bring explosives |
| Finale (MI6) | Grouped enemies | Defend, reposition, control the field |
9. Noise, Line of Sight, and Body Hiding#
- Line of sight: enemy vision cones are affected by lighting and cover — the Q-Scope marks them in advance. Don’t linger in light or open ground;
- Noise: running, opening doors, and gunfire all draw attention. Throwables and the Dart Phone can “aim” noise in a direction, pulling people where you want them;
- Body hiding: if a patrol finds a body you left behind, the alarm sounds immediately — never treat “cleaning up” as optional.
10. Enemies and Challenges#
Many challenges revolve around “never being spotted”, “only taking out specific targets”, and “using specific gadgets on specific enemies”. These challenges are in fact the best textbook for understanding enemy tiers — finish them and you will build a solid intuition for “who can see what, and who gets moved by what”, after which similar levels become trivial.
