WARDOGS FAQ: Price, Platforms, Specs, and Early Access#

This page collects answers on purchasing, platforms, system requirements, and connectivity. Every answer follows the official store page and publicly released materials; anything the studio has not addressed is marked as “not officially announced.”

Buying and Pricing#

Q: How much does the game cost, and can I buy it now?#

Yes. The game entered Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026.

Edition Price
Standard Edition $39.99
Supporter Edition $49.99

Actual prices in each region follow what the Steam store displays.

Q: Is it free to play?#

No. It is a premium, buy-to-play Early Access title, and the studio has never announced any plan to make it free.

Q: Are there microtransactions, battle passes, or anything that sells a stat advantage?#

No. The studio stated repeatedly around launch that no in-game cash is sold during Early Access and unlockable skins are not sold directly. Gear advantages come only from in-match performance and economy management.

Q: What does the Supporter Edition add?#

The base game plus a purely cosmetic Supporter Pack containing: three faction-skin rifles (Valkyra A-91, Lonestar Bushmaster, Manticore KH-2002), a Littlebird “Taxi” helicopter skin, a hideable supporter scoreboard icon, and grenade and helmet charms (per the official announcement of August 11, 2026). It grants no stat advantages of any kind.

Platforms and Consoles#

Q: Which platforms are available now?#

Windows PC only, distributed through Steam.

Q: Are console versions coming?#

Yes. The official press release and launch trailer both confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox plans with a 2028 release window; the PS5/Xbox wishlists opened on September 10, 2026. Only the exact release date remains unannounced.

Q: Is cross-platform play supported?#

PC is currently the only platform, so crossplay does not apply yet. The studio has not announced any future crossplay plans.

Q: Can I play on Steam Deck or Linux?#

In a pinned discussion on September 4, 2026, the studio confirmed that Linux is not currently supported and that Proton compatibility work is ongoing with no timeline given; Steam Deck has no official support and playability is not guaranteed. The one alternative that does work is NVIDIA GeForce NOW streaming (officially confirmed), currently the only official option for players without a Windows gaming PC.

Q: Does a controller work?#

Controller support is relatively limited during Early Access; the game is built around PC keyboard and mouse first. If you prefer a controller, check its support status under the current patch before relying on it.

Languages and Anti-Cheat#

Item Status
Interface languages 14 supported, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese
Audio languages Full voice-over in English only
Subtitle support The store page’s subtitle column is not flagged; go by the in-game settings
Anti-cheat Kernel-level Elytra Anti-Cheat Framework (migrated from Easy Anti-Cheat on September 2, 2026; Anybrain added in August)
Streaming Playable via NVIDIA GeForce NOW
Terms of use Third-party license agreements must be accepted

A kernel-level anti-cheat runs with elevated system-level privileges. If your machine has security software or debugging tools installed that might conflict with it, sort that out before launching.

System Requirements#

Spec Minimum (official store page)
OS Windows 10 64-bit
CPU Intel Core i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3500
RAM 16 GB
GPU NVIDIA GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590
Network Broadband internet connection
Storage 50 GB available space
Note These specs target roughly 60 fps at 1080p on low settings (with resolution scaling on)

The studio also notes that this setup targets about 60 fps at 1080p low with upscaling — in other words, this is not a hardware-friendly game.

The official recommended configuration is:

Spec Recommended (official store page)
OS Windows 11
GPU NVIDIA RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT
Storage 50 GB available space
Note Targets 1440p medium at 70+ fps (native), or 4K medium at 60+ fps (upscaled)

The remaining items (CPU, RAM, and so on) are not listed separately in the official recommendations; go by what the Steam store page currently shows.

The Early Access Timeline#

Q: How long will it stay in Early Access?#

The studio estimates 1 to 2 years and is explicit that this is a development estimate, not a promised date for 1.0.

Q: What content is coming?#

The official line: during Early Access only 1 new map is planned (with an explicit warning not to expect regular content drops), while most development effort goes into the metagame and fixes. The Steam store page also lists expanding weapons and vehicles, plus clans and community features, as future directions.

Q: When does 1.0 launch, and will the price go up?#

Per the official dev logs: 1.0 is targeted about 24 months after Early Access launch (around September 2028); the price rises in steps during Early Access, with a 1.0 target price of $59.99. All of the above is a development estimate, not a promised date.

Q: Is there enough content right now?#

Item Count
Core mode 1 (three factions contesting control zones)
Maps 3, each with 3 variants
Weapons 37 per the official count
Vehicles 21 per the official count (the community counts 20 on the supplier tab)
Achievements 10 shown on Steam

The content list is not large, but its depth comes from the economy and the three-way standoff, not from a checklist.

Launch and Connection#

Q: I couldn’t get into the game at launch — is it broken?#

Launch day saw queues (at one point over 300,000 players) and connection issues; the studio shipped Launch Stability Hotfix #1 that night at 20:20 UTC, and from September 11 the reviews held at zero negatives around the clock. If you are still stuck in a queue or unable to get in, first make sure your client is updated to the latest version, then restart and try again.

Q: Why is matchmaking sometimes slow?#

Matches are 100-player, three-faction affairs, so the matchmaker has to fill all three factions at once, and wait times vary with region and time of day. Playing during hours when the population is active usually improves things noticeably.

Q: Can I team up with friends?#

Yes. Squads are optional; solo players queue normally and are never excluded for lacking a squad. Community reports say squad size is unrestricted within the 100-player cap; the studio has not published specific squad rules, so treat in-game behavior as authoritative.

Q: Does progress from the betas carry over?#

The studio has not said whether beta progress transfers to the release client. Treat your beta progress as possibly not carrying over.
