Main Story Chapter Walkthrough#
The Norway Prologue#
The story opens in a blizzard in Norway. Eivor’s father is killed for refusing to bow to Kjotve; the young Eivor escapes with her brother Sigurd and is taken in and raised by Styrbjorn. Years later, Eivor carries out missions across Norway and gradually comes to understand the combat talent inherited through her bloodline. The final goal of the prologue is to defeat Kjotve and avenge her father, while also touching, through her dreams, the mysterious prophecy concerning the Isu world.
First Arrival in England#
After Kjotve is defeated, Sigurd leads the clan across the sea to England. The group lands first in Leicestershire and founds the settlement of Ravensthorpe in the place where ravens roost. The story that follows revolves around the alliance journey: Eivor must visit the lords of each region of England one by one and win their support for the clan through force, diplomacy or negotiation. The alliance quest of each shire is a self-contained story unit, and the order in which you tackle them is up to you.

The Story Value of the Asgard Dreams#
The Asgard dreams are not pure side content — they are directly tied to the main story ending. Odin’s trials correspond to Eivor’s choices in the modern-day timeline, and understanding the mythological metaphors in the dreams helps you make the right call at critical moments. It is recommended to finish the Asgard-related quests around the mid-point of the main story, which makes the later plot far more immersive.
Story FAQ#
| Question |
Answer |
| Can you skip the Asgard dreams |
Yes, but you will miss key background information |
| Can the perfect ending be reached in one run |
You need to make the right choice at several choice points |
| Must every member of the Order of the Ancients be eliminated |
The main story only requires eliminating designated members; the rest are optional |
| What is Basim’s true identity |
He is the reincarnation of Loki and has been hiding at Eivor’s side all along |
| Does the modern-day story affect the main story |
The modern story is independent of the main story, but the endings echo each other |
Story Detail Supplements#
Foreshadowing Behind Key Lines#
Basim mentions an “old friend” several times early on; these seemingly casual lines are in fact laying the groundwork for the later reveal of his true identity. On a second playthrough, revisiting these lines feels completely different. Alfred’s conversation with Eivor in Winchester also hints in advance at the identity of the father of the Order of the Ancients, and is worth savoring more than once.
Historical Background#
The game recreates the Viking invasion of England in considerable detail. The conflicts between kingdoms such as Mercia and Wessex, and the interweaving of real monarchs with fictional characters, all make the story more immersive. Players who enjoy history can collect documents and legends in the game to piece together a complete picture of the era.
