Achievements#
Shift At Midnight has 10 Steam achievements worth 1,000 points total: 7 with visible descriptions and 3 hidden achievements, one per ending. This list matches the entries tracked on trueachievements.com.

| 10 | Empty Home | Hidden: reach the Empty Home ending | Hidden |
2. Story Achievements: The Three Endings Are Mutually Exclusive#
Achievements 7, 9, and 10 map to the three endings, and a single save can earn only one:
| Achievement | Contact Clyde after shift 12? | Personal Funds |
|---|---|---|
| True Ending | No contact | At least $250 |
| Grave Decision | Contact | Not required |
| Empty Home | No contact | Under $250 |
To collect all three, community guides (allthings.how) offer two routes: back up the save before the shift-12 choice and play each branch separately, or fully replay three times. The guides also warn: reloading the shift-12 save is not reliably safe on every platform — three independent playthroughs are the safest approach.
3. Never Kill Clyde by Mistake#
This is the heaviest trap on the achievement line: killing the real Clyde Dawson voids all three ending achievements (shiftatmidnightguide.wiki) — he can never receive the post-shift-12 call, so none of the three ending lines can trigger.
- Clyde visits the shop as a customer across multiple shifts, and a doppelganger version of him exists;
- Run the same verification routine on him: pull the file, compare, ask questions — confirm he’s human before letting him through;
- When unsure, let him go — the cost is one winnable Hunt; killing the wrong one costs three hidden achievements.
4. Locked And Loaded: Mind the Chainsaw#
The condition is buying every melee weapon and filling your armory. Note the change from the 2026-09-01 patch: purchasing the Chainsaw is required to complete this achievement (per shiftatmidnight.co and shiftatmidnight.wiki changelogs). Under the post-patch weapon list, melee comprises the Brick, Baseball Bat, Sledgehammer, and Chainsaw; ranged comprises the Gun/Pistol (free starter), Second Pistol (added 7-29), Shotgun, SMG, and Flamethrower.
Weapons are bought with shop funds (see Wages and Saving) and never touch your personal funds; but whether you buy weapons before saving for the surgery depends on which ending you want in which run. For purchase pacing, defer to the in-game store.
5. Relentless: The Only Strict Time Trial#
Requires ending a Hunt within 30 seconds of it starting. A preparation timer runs before the Hunt begins, and you can place traps during it — so the reliable approach is preparing early:
- Weapons must be purchased in advance on the computer to enter your Hunt arsenal (dtgre.com) — don’t discover at Hunt start that you only have the starter pistol;
- Lay traps (Bear Traps, Land Mines) on the entity’s inevitable path and let it step on them;
- Board up doors and windows to squeeze the entity’s approach into your kill zone.
The shift-13 final Hunt target is The Dentist — a scripted sequence of shooting followed by a chase section closed out by a cutscene (see The Dentist Showdown) — not suitable for farming this achievement.
6. Freed and Last Performance: Mechanics Achievements#
Freed (kill a Demented): the Demented’s gaze-freeze is not fully reliable (shiftatmidnightguide.wiki), and a head-on brawl is a bad idea; the community’s best counter is the Bear Trap and Land Mine. Seeding its path with traps beats trying to control it with line of sight.
Last Performance (kill a Marionette): the safe routine is winding the Jack-in-the-Box before the third playthrough of the tune, preventing the puppet from appearing at all — but this achievement requires you to deliberately let the music box finish, release the puppet, then kill it. Two verified mechanics matter: each musical passage runs roughly 10 to 15 seconds, and damaging it makes it speed up (shiftatmidnightguide.wiki), so commit decisively. The 7-23 patch already lowered its HP.
Silenced (kill a Shrieking Doll): Shrieking Dolls crawl along the ground and fall to any melee weapon (shiftatmidnightguide.wiki) — this comes naturally in normal play.
7. Unlock Rates (time-sensitive)#
The rates below were sampled by theshiftatmidnight.com on 2026-08-08, for reference only — they shift with the player base and patches:
| Achievement | Unlock Rate (2026-08-08 sample) |
|---|---|
| First Blood | 96.5% |
| Still Breathing | 93.4% |
| Silenced | 89.3% |
| Freed | 79.1% |
| Relentless | 44.8% |
| Last Performance | 40.7% |
The three hidden ending achievements and Locked And Loaded were not in that sample; among all ten, the rarest is Empty Home. The distribution shows the game’s design: front-loaded and casual early, deliberate planning required late.
8. Recommended Collection Order#
- Play story mode through normally once. You’ll naturally pick up First Blood, Still Breathing, Silenced, plus one ending achievement (per your choice).
- Grab Freed during a Hunt. Buy a Bear Trap or Land Mine in advance and seed the Demented’s path.
- Do a dedicated Last Performance run. On a night when the Marionette can appear (community reports: around shift 9 onward), deliberately let the tune finish, then kill it.
- Attempt Relentless only when prepared. The post-clear Endless Mode is a repeatable sandbox for triggering Hunts.
- Finish the other two ending achievements last. Back up saves or replay, heeding the save-reload reliability warning.
- Close out Locked And Loaded. After the 9-1 patch, remember the Chainsaw.
9. A First Blood Trivia#
First Blood’s condition is merely “kill your first customer” — the target does not have to be a doppelganger. Shooting a real customer unlocks it too (gamerant.com, dq7reimagined.com). That is not license to shoot wildly: the cost of a wrongful kill is forfeiting the sale and its income (gamerblurb.com), and the achievement’s own logic shows the game doesn’t reward indiscriminate fire. It pops naturally the first time you eliminate a real doppelganger.
10. Notes#
- This site has no official documentation of each achievement’s exact unlock logic; conditions above follow the trueachievements.com entries and official patch notes — the in-game list is the final authority.
- For the three ending achievements in detail, see The Three Endings.
- Future updates may adjust achievement conditions (Locked And Loaded already changed once) — follow the official changelog.
