Operations Bosses and Contracts#

Operations Bosses and Contracts

High-end income in Operations concentrates in two sources: boss drops and contract rewards. Each of the five main maps has an exclusive boss, paired with benchmark contracts and random events that create each map’s “highlight moments”. This page provides a quick reference for the five bosses’ spawn points and mechanics, a complete contract table per map, and how to handle random events.

Boss Overview Table#

Map Boss Spawn Location Signature Mechanic
Zero Dam Guard Commander · Sayed Admin Building May carry an M250 / QJB201 in night raids
Longbow Valley Hell Shark · Reis Radar Station or Queen Hotel Lethal melee in one hit
Space Base Security Director · Demoulin Inside the base Operates two autonomous combat vehicles in tandem
Tidal Prison Fallen Prince · Raven Inside the prison .357 revolver, leads Asara death-row guards, melee hits execute outright
Brakkish Blue Eagle HAVVK-64 helicopter Airborne across the map Enemy vehicle-type boss; must be focus-fired down

Boss-by-Boss Breakdown#

Sayed (Zero Dam): the Guard Commander, spawning fixed in the Admin Building — also the most valuable building zone on the dam. On night-raid difficulty he may carry an M250 or QJB201, which changes suppressive fire completely; prepare for a “heavy-firepower boss” before queuing night Zero Dam.

Reis (Longbow Valley): the Hell Shark, spawning at either the Radar Station or the Queen Hotel. His danger is not his aim but his proximity — lethal in one melee hit. The counterplay is to keep distance and use cover to cut off his gap-closing paths.

Demoulin (Space Base): the Security Director, bringing two autonomous combat vehicles — the strongest “AI synergy” boss in the game. The vehicles threaten open areas; prioritize using interiors and cover to split the vehicles from the boss himself. Season S11 also opened the “Play as Demoulin” boss mode (see Arena and Casual Modes).

Raven (Tidal Prison): the Fallen Prince, a .357 revolver backed by Asara death-row guards. The revolver is extremely dangerous per shot, and his melee hits execute outright — in the prison’s indoor terrain, keeping mid-range is the only rational choice.

Blue Eagle helicopter (Brakkish): Brakkish’s “boss” is a HAVVK-64 helicopter with no fixed ground spawn, existing as an airborne threat. The “Broken Wing” contract directly requires destroying it (see the table below).

Four Preparations Before a Boss Fight#

Boss fights are usually decided before contact. Based on Operations’ underlying rules, get four things done before engaging:

  1. Confirm squad size: Operations allows up to 3 players. Boss-room engagement angles are usually stretched out by guards; soloing a boss means tanking “melee execution”, “autonomous vehicles”, and “heavy suppressive fire” all by yourself — fill your squad whenever possible.
  2. Plan for per-limb damage: the 100-point health model with seven damageable body parts (see Operations Core Mechanics) means “can I still run” is sometimes more critical than “how much HP is left” — against melee-lethal bosses like Reis and Raven, a broken leg that ends sprinting bankrupts the distance game, so keep your surgical kit somewhere handy.
  3. Check ammo and armor quality: gear comes in six tiers — white, green, blue, purple, gold, and red. Boss fights last far longer and burn far more ammo than regular encounters; chewing through a boss with low-tier ammo only adds time pressure to yourself.
  4. Don’t skimp on stims: in-raid stims cover carry capacity, hearing, stamina, and more; topping up buffs before the boss room is a fixed routine — stims are in-raid consumables you cannot carry out anyway, so leaving them in the bag is meaningless.

Benchmark Contracts by Map#

Contracts are Operations’ “official quest lines”; completing them yields rich rewards, and many are tied to special extraction methods:

Map Contract Flow Essentials
Zero Dam Wall Breaker Missile-blast the door + drill open the vault
Zero Dam Hard Currency (new in S9) Power the vault via the backup flood-relief valve; toxic gas 30 seconds after the vault opens — you must extract within the time limit
Longbow Valley Iron Dome Hack the air-defense facility; blow up the depot
Space Base Ascension Hack the rocket; extract during the launch window
Space Base Fireworks Destroy the rocket with a missile
Brakkish Broken Wing Shoot down the Blue Eagle helicopter
Brakkish Guardian Escort the doctor; unlock the helipad extraction

Three execution reminders:

  1. The “Hard Currency” gas mechanic is the harshest time pressure of all contracts: gas drops 30 seconds after the vault opens, so every step after opening (bagging loot, choosing a route) must be planned by the second.
  2. “Guardian” is Brakkish’s most reliable high-value extraction route: escorting the doctor carries risk, but it buys access to the helipad extraction point — “risk upfront, exit guaranteed”.
  3. “Ascension” is tied to the launch window, meaning your extraction time is dictated by the rocket launch schedule — a completely different rhythm from the regular countdowns described in Extraction Point Mechanics.

Code-Container Quick Reference#

Many benchmark contracts end at a high-value container that must be cracked; random events like “the main gate is blown open” merely save you the door-opening step — the safe itself still gets cracked by the rules. The two code-locked container types and their fixed distributions:

Container Cracking Rule Fixed Distribution
Large Safe Five-digit code lock cracking 2 fixed spawns on Zero Dam; 5 fixed on Space Base, plus 2 more on Top Secret
Hacker PC Three-digit code; dots on the input panel mean 1–5, dashes mean 6–0 2 fixed spawns on Zero Dam; 4 fixed on Space Base

Two practical corollaries:

  1. The drill in “Wall Breaker” and the backup flood-relief valve in “Hard Currency” only solve the “door” problem — the large safes and hacker PCs behind the doors still get cracked one by one per the table above. Budget contract time as “door time + cracking time”, which is part of why the gas arriving 30 seconds after “Hard Currency” opens the vault is so lethal.
  2. Space Base has the highest cracking density in the game: 5 fixed large safes (7 on Top Secret) plus 4 hacker PCs — the value foundation justifying its Top Secret, high-threshold design, and the reason the Demoulin-plus-two-vehicles area is worth contesting.

Random Events#

Each map can also trigger random events that change the terrain and resource distribution of that raid:

Map Event Effect
Zero Dam Main gate blown open Vault door stands open, but the safe still requires contract cracking
Longbow Valley Plane crash Drops a high-value wreckage zone (a wildfire event was added in S6 and later removed)
Space Base Rocket crash Broken bridge reroutes + return capsule drop + gun-skin protocol case spawn

Random events mean memorizing guides solves only half the problem — the same map distributes high-value loot differently in every raid. The rule when an event fires: first confirm which routes the event changed, then decide whether to detour for event loot. Terrain changes like broken bridges and crashed planes often affect extraction routes more than the drops themselves.

Also realize the event pool is not static: Longbow Valley’s wildfire event was added in S6 and later removed, showing officials rotate random events by season. S11 “Stars” added random switch points to Space Base and adjusted extraction mechanics (see Extraction Points and the Loot-Fight-Extract Flow) — beyond memorizing event tables, re-check the mechanics changelog every season.

The Value Logic of Bosses and Contracts#

From an economy perspective, bosses and contracts are the two high-yield “AI-side” outlets of Operations:

  • Boss drops: high kill risk (melee execution, autonomous vehicles, heavy firepower), but a clear probability edge toward gold/red quality drops.
  • Contract rewards: long flows tied to specific extractions (helipad, rocket window) — trading execution time for guaranteed income.
  • Random events: free resource redistribution; lower priority than the first two, but excellent value when “on the way”.

Recommended priority: contracts > bosses > events — contracts offer not just rewards but exclusive extraction exits, which in Top Secret raids are often priceless.

Synergies with Other Systems#

  • Which map and difficulty a boss or contract sits on directly shapes that map’s gear-threshold-to-return ratio (e.g., Space Base Top Secret’s 600,000 threshold against expected Demoulin drops).
  • Raven in Tidal Prison is the only “indoor-type” boss on this page; his melee-execution mechanic stacked with prison terrain creates hard Operator preferences for that map — see Operator Unlocks and Team Comps.
  • S9’s “Hard Currency” shows officials are still injecting new contracts into older maps; boss guides are a long-term updating section.

Boss Fights and Operator Choices#

The five boss fights stress different Operator needs. Judging by official Operator skills, three skill types are most valuable in boss fights:

  • Recon: Luna’s recon arrows expose targets through walls and leave tracking sensors; Silverwing’s falcon bionic drone marks enemies in view every second — when searching the Admin Building for Sayed or mapping Raven’s guard layout in prison corridors, this “see first” skill set directly decides who strikes first.
  • Support: Stinger’s hormone gun tracks and heals multiple targets; Butterfly’s butterfly rescue drone auto-revives teammates within 55 meters and intercepts one explosive — under boss-and-guard crossfire, a Support Operator is the key that downgrades a “team wipe” to a “knockdown”.
  • Suppression: Shepherd’s sonic shock suppresses enemies within a 30-meter radius and lowers their fire rate — clearly useful against death-row guard point-blank charges and for splitting the autonomous vehicles from Demoulin himself.

For class roles and squad-building ideas, see Operator Unlocks and Team Comps.

Gear Thresholds vs. Boss Returns#

Boss drop expectations should be weighed against each map’s gear threshold; the “entry cost — boss return” structure differs greatly across maps:

Map Gear Threshold Boss and Benchmark Contracts
Zero Dam Confidential 112,500 Havoc coins Sayed; Wall Breaker, Hard Currency
Longbow Valley Confidential 112,500 Havoc coins Reis; Iron Dome
Brakkish Confidential 187,500 / Top Secret 550,000 Havoc coins Blue Eagle helicopter; Broken Wing, Guardian
Space Base Top Secret entry gear no lower than 600,000 Havoc coins Demoulin; Ascension, Fireworks
Tidal Prison Follow in-game values Raven

Two observations:

  • Zero Dam and Longbow Valley are the entry tickets for “low-cost boss-fight practice”: the 112,500 Confidential threshold matches Sayed and Reis, two mechanic-driven bosses — practice melee spacing and night-raid planning on low-threshold maps before moving up, for the lowest trial-and-error cost.
  • Space Base’s 600,000 threshold and Demoulin’s strength are two sides of one coin: the map’s highest cracking density plus a dual-vehicle boss make it the final exam of Top Secret raids; treating Space Base as “Zero Dam advanced” is the most common way to fail at this threshold.

Threshold values above follow in-game values.
