Limited-Time Events#

Limited-Time Events

Events in Marvel Rivals fall into three categories: seasonal events, holiday events, and crossover events. They usually come with separate mission chains and exclusive rewards.

Event Types#

Type Traits Common Rewards
Seasonal events Tied to the current season’s theme Costumes, sprays, Chrono Tokens
Holiday events Launched around real-world holidays Holiday-themed cosmetics, avatars
Crossover events Tie-ins with Marvel films or other works Crossover costumes, name cards
Gameplay events Modes with special rules Exclusive rewards and limited costumes

Seasonal Events#

Seasonal events revolve around the story of the current season. Players advance by completing event missions and unlock cosmetics that match the season’s theme.

Completion usually means playing a set number of matches in designated modes or maps, or hitting specific combat objectives. Event missions have more specific requirements than daily missions, but pay out more.

Holiday Events#

Holiday events launch on a real-world calendar; common themes include:

  • Winter Celebration: Ice, snow, and holiday decorations, with special gameplay maps
  • Lunar New Year event: Zodiac themes, often with lion dance elements
  • Halloween event: Horror and costumes as the theme

Holiday event rewards are mostly limited skins and sprays, and never provide any stat benefits.

Gameplay Events#

Some events open modes with modified rules, such as changed team sizes, restricted hero pools, or special victory conditions. These modes are usually only available during the event and go offline once it ends.

The value of joining these events: the rewards usually cannot be obtained anywhere else.

Event Tokens#

Some events hand out exclusive tokens that can be exchanged for rewards in the event shop.

Key Point Details
Earning Complete event missions
Usage Can only be redeemed in the corresponding event shop
Deadline Expire once the event ends; spend them within the event window
Redeeming Prioritize limited cosmetics first, then sprays and avatars

Event tokens do not carry over, which sets them apart from the battle pass.

Past Event Recap#

Since launch, Marvel Rivals has run many themed events, most echoing the season or holiday of the moment, such as the winter ice-themed gameplay or the lion dance holiday theme. The maps and rules from these events may reappear later through rotation or reruns.

Participation Strategy#

  1. Check the rewards before committing time: Only spend time for limited cosmetics; spray-only rewards can be skipped
  2. Clear event missions alongside your dailies: Many event missions overlap with daily mission requirements
  3. Watch the event deadline: Event tokens expire with no exceptions
  4. No need to collect everything: Event rewards are mostly limited-time cosmetics and usually reappear in later events or the store

FAQ#

Question Answer
Do events get reruns Some do, especially holiday themes
Do event rewards affect stats No, everything is cosmetic
Can I still get limited cosmetics after missing an event Some return through reruns or store rotation
Can event tokens be saved for the next event No, they expire once the event ends

Event Pacing Within a Season#

A single season usually sees several events go live. A sensible order of operations:

Step Action Notes
1 Read the event reward list First decide which rewards you actually want
2 Check the event mission requirements Confirm whether specific modes or heroes are needed
3 Combine with daily missions Most event missions overlap with daily requirements
4 Spend event tokens before the deadline Tokens expire with no exceptions
5 Redeem limited cosmetics first in the final stretch Regular items can be picked up anytime

Events and the Season Cycle#

Season Phase Event Traits
Early season Opening events tied to the season theme
Mid season New hero-themed events alongside the X.5 update
Late season Mostly holiday-themed or rerun events

The Real Value of Joining Events#

Event rewards are almost purely cosmetic and provide no stat advantage whatsoever. There is only one criterion for whether an event is worth your time: does it contain a cosmetic you genuinely want.

If the rewards are all low-value items like sprays and avatars, save your time for Ranked or the battle pass. Event tokens expire and become void, and that is something you should confirm before committing.
