Battle Pass#
The battle pass is the most cost-effective way to get cosmetic content in Marvel Rivals. This page explains its structure, the token mechanics, and purchase advice.
Pass Structure#
Each season has one themed battle pass tied to the season storyline. The pass consists of a free track and a premium track, with content focused on costumes, sprays, emotes, nameplates, and avatars.
| Item | Free | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| How to get it | Automatic | Purchased with Lattice |
| Content volume | A small number of rewards, including one epic costume | Five costumes with matching cosmetics |
| Content value | Relatively low | Officially stated to be worth about 8,000 Units |
| Requires payment | No | Yes |
Price#
The premium pass for Season 0 was priced at 490 Lattice, about half the standard price of later seasons, because that season ran for a shorter period. Subsequent seasons are sold at the standard price.
The Pass Never Expires#
This is the biggest difference between Marvel Rivals and most similar games: after purchasing the premium pass, you can keep redeeming its items in later seasons even if you did not finish during the current season.
In other words, there is no need to rush to “clear the pass.” You can redeem at your own pace.
Note that the page unlock order of the pass is still determined by Chrono Tokens, so reaching later content still requires accumulating Chrono Tokens.
Chrono Tokens#
Chrono Tokens are pass-exclusive tokens used to unlock rewards in the pass pages.
| Source | Notes |
|---|---|
| Daily missions | Refresh daily, a stable source |
| Weekly missions | Refresh weekly, larger payouts per mission |
| Event missions | Extra output during limited-time events |
| Lattice purchase | You can buy additional Chrono Tokens directly |
Chrono Token spending is tied to pass page progression: unlocking a page requires a certain number of Chrono Tokens, and only after unlocking can you redeem the specific rewards on that page.
What happens at the end of a season:
- Unused Chrono Tokens are converted when the season ends
- Redeemed items are kept permanently
- Unredeemed content can still be redeemed in later seasons
Mission System#
| Mission type | Refresh cycle | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Daily missions | Daily | Easy conditions, the main source of Chrono Tokens |
| Weekly missions | Weekly | Larger rewards, require more matches |
| Season missions | Per season | Tied to the season theme |
| Event missions | During events | Limited time, rewards usually include exclusive cosmetics |
Season Themes#
The pass theme matches the season storyline, for example:
| Season | Theme |
|---|---|
| Season 6 | Night at the Museum |
| Season 7 | The Hunt Begins |
| Season 8 | The Sin of Arkomax |
| Season 9 | Riddle of Thebes |
| Season 10 | The Desecration of the God Slayer |
The costume styles in each pass echo that season’s story background; for example, the Season 10 pass revolves around the theme of gods and symbiotes.
Purchase Advice#
| Situation | Advice |
|---|---|
| Long-term play | The premium version is worth it; best content-to-price ratio |
| Just trying the game | Start with the free track and watch your playtime |
| Want one specific costume | Check whether it can be bought separately in the store; bundles are often the better deal |
| Irregular playtime | This game’s pass never expires, so progression pressure is low |
| Limited budget | Buy the pass first, then consider store bundles |
FAQ#
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How much does the pass cost | 490 Lattice for S0; later seasons at the standard price |
| Does the pass expire | No; purchased content can still be redeemed in later seasons |
| Does the free pass include content | Yes, a small number of rewards plus one epic costume |
| How do you earn Chrono Tokens | Daily and weekly missions, event missions, or purchase with Lattice |
| Can pass content be refunded | Unlocked and redeemed content cannot be refunded |
| Do pass costumes have stats | No, purely cosmetic |
Pass Progression Pace#
Estimating a few matches per week, most players can finish the main content of the premium pass within a season. If your time is limited, prioritize like this:
| Priority | Content | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| High | The epic costume on the free track | Obtainable without paying |
| High | The legendary costumes on the premium track | Highest per-item value |
| Medium | Sprays, emotes, nameplates | Numerous, unlock naturally with progress |
| Low | Small repeat-type cosmetics | Take or leave as you like |
How the Pass Relates to Other Systems#
| Relationship | Notes |
|---|---|
| With achievements | Achievement points can be exchanged for Units, which can buy bundles; the two systems complement each other |
| With ranked | Ranked season rewards do not overlap with pass content; you can pursue both at once |
| With events | Event missions often grant Chrono Tokens too, so doing events doubles as pass progression |
| With proficiency | Proficiency does not produce pass resources, but it helps you finish match-based missions faster |
