Weapon Builds, Attachments, and Ammo#

Weapon Builds, Attachments, and Ammo

The same gun is two different weapons in different hands — the difference is the build. This page covers gun-building in the Operations context: how to weigh attachments, how to pick ammo by map threshold, and how to spend gear value where it counts in the build. All exact values defer to what’s in game.

The Three Decision Dimensions of a Build#

Dimension The trade-off question The Operations lean
Fire rate / recoil Stable or fast Loot-fight-extract fights skew mid-to-long range; prioritize control
Range Close line or long hold Set by the map; sacrifice range for mobility on building maps
Magazine capacity Sustained fire vs reload windows Reload windows are dangerous in Confidential raids; bigger mags buy more margin

No dimension has an absolute answer, but there is a decision order: first set the ammo tier (a life-or-death question) → then set range (a map question) → finally tune the feel (a personal question). Reversing the order produces the classic faceplant of “a maxed build that can’t pen armor”.

The essence of the build system is “buying feel with Havoc coins”. Of your entry gear value (Confidential 112,500, Brakkish Confidential 187,500, Top Secret 550,000 / 600,000), weapons and attachments take a large share — your build plan directly decides your deployment cost and death loss.

Attachment Slots at a Glance#

Slot Function The Operations trade-off
Muzzle Suppressor / compensator Suppression is extremely valuable in loot-fight-extract (exposes your position less)
Barrel Range and precision Must be fully kitted on long-range maps
Grip Recoil control Priority if your spray control is average
Magazine Capacity and reloads Big mags for sustained fights
Optic Field of view and magnification Low zoom on building maps, mid-to-high on open maps
Other tactical slots Lasers, holds, and more Fine-tune to your engagement style

Ammo Choice: Tier Matchups Are the Core#

Ammo is the one link in the build system that most decides life or death. The six quality tiers apply to ammo too, and ammo tier stands in a matchup relationship with armor tier:

Scenario Ammo principle
Normal difficulty Low-threshold lobbies (capped at tier-4 armor, tier-3 ammo); high-tier ammo is wasted
Confidential difficulty Lobbies with the 112,500 gear threshold; opponents’ armor generally upgrades, so ammo tier must keep up
Top Secret difficulty Top lobbies with the 550,000 / 600,000 threshold; top-tier ammo is standard issue
Boss hunting Heavy-firepower bosses like Raven (.357 revolver) and Sayed (night-ops M250 / QJB201) — match their armor and firepower

The reverse logic matters just as much: high-tier ammo on low-tier armor is waste; low-tier ammo on high-tier armor is a freebie. The map difficulty tiers (see the gear threshold table in Beginner’s Guide) are your ammo shopping list.

Quality and the Build Economy#

The six quality tiers (white → green → blue → purple → gold → red) mean the following in a build context:

  1. Attachments have quality tiers too; purple-and-above attachments are a double win of gear value and real performance.
  2. Death drops your gear, so match the build budget to the difficulty tier you can afford to lose in — white/blue attachments in Normal lobbies, purple/gold in Confidential.
  3. Attachments cannot go into the Safe Box (the Safe Box ban list: weapon attachments, Mandel Bricks, Gehross Judgment Cards, in-match injectors); good attachments must be used, sold, or carried at drop risk.
  4. Weapon skins are a separate value line — collector orange skins from Mandel Bricks are worth the most, but skins affect only looks and asset value, never performance.

Build Codes: The Community’s Efficiency Revolution#

We mentioned earlier that build-code sharing is now a community standard; here is a usage workflow:

  1. Open the build-plans section of a community guide site (such as Delta Yituliu).
  2. Filter plans by gun + scenario (e.g., “M700 repeat-fire · Confidential Zero Dam”), and check the season version the plan is tagged with.
  3. Copy the build code and paste it into the in-game gunsmith screen.
  4. Fine-tune to your ammo budget — community plans are usually shown fully kitted; when trimming, keep the magazine and muzzle first.

This culture turns “building a gun” from a knowledge barrier into a lookup action. But two things cannot be replaced by a code: subjective feel for range and version judgment on ammo tiers — the latter shifts with each season’s armor environment. Copying codes feels great today, but re-validate after every version update.

Build Template Ideas by Difficulty Tier#

Tier Weapon baseline Attachment strategy Ammo strategy
Normal lobbies White/green/blue weapons Minimal or no attachments; save gear value Lowest ammo within the cap
Confidential lobbies Blue/purple weapons, fully built Suppressor first, control first Mid-to-high-tier ammo
Top Secret lobbies Purple/gold weapons, fully kitted Full kit + tactical attachments (thermal by map) Top-tier ammo

The one-line principle behind the table: the build budget always follows the entry threshold and follows “what you can afford to lose”. Maxing a Top Secret build presumes you can already extract profit consistently; in a lobby where the cost of dying exceeds what you can bear, even the best attachments are debt.

On the build environment for S11’s new weapons, two more reminders: for bolt-action snipers like the 98K, the attachment core is “one-shot precision” — concentrate the budget on barrel and optic; full-auto shotguns like the AA-12 are the opposite, prioritizing capacity and choke — the two new guns’ build philosophies are nearly opposite, so don’t mix up their build codes.

Build Direction by Gun Class: Quick Reference#

Class Build priorities Why
Assault rifles Suppressed muzzle + recoil grip All-range generalists; suppression protects your position
SMGs Extended mags + close-quarters attachments Indoor encounters make reload windows lethal
Bolt-action sniper (98K) Barrel range + high-zoom optic One shot decides it; precision first
Repeat-fire sniper (M700 kit) Barrel + mid-zoom optic Repeat fire buys margin; mid-range suppression
Machine guns (M250 / QJB201 / QJB Windfury kit) Ammo feed and recoil damping Sustained firepower; pair with damping attachments
Full-auto shotgun (AA-12) Capacity + choke attachments Control for full-auto spray
Pistol (93R kit) Three-round-burst form switch Sharpening a backup weapon

Common Build Mistakes#

  • Mistake 1: mindless max builds. A maxed weapon carries a pile of Havoc coins into the raid, wiped out on death — tiering your build to difficulty is the economical play.
  • Mistake 2: attachments without ammo. A maxed weapon on low-tier ammo still can’t pen armor — a freebie either way.
  • Mistake 3: skins as performance. The Mandel Brick’s collector orange is an asset, not firepower; don’t run a prized skin gun naked into a Top Secret lobby just to look good.
