The Nine Launch Maps at a Glance#
Battlefield 6 launched with 9 maps. This page is the style-positioning overview for all of them; map-by-map city tactics are in the City Maps Guide, and open-map vehicle warfare is in the Open Maps Guide.
The Nine Launch Maps#

| Empire State | Empire State | New York, USA | Metropolitan street fighting, high-rises |
| Operation Firestorm | Operation Firestorm | Desert industrial zone | Battlefield 3 classic remastered, vehicle warfare |
| Saints Quarter | Saints Quarter | Urban block | Infantry-focused compact combat |

Picking a Map by What You Want to Practice#
| What You Want to Train | Maps to Pick |
|---|---|
| Infantry gunplay and breaching | Saints Quarter, Manhattan Bridge (compact corridors, dense combat) |
| Vertical movement and wall breaching | Siege of Cairo, Empire State (lots of tall structures) |
| Tanks and anti-tank | Operation Firestorm, Mirak Valley (open plus full vehicle lineup) |
| Helicopters and jets | Mirak Valley, Liberation Peak (big airspace) |
| Sniping and intelligence | Liberation Peak, Operation Firestorm (many long sightlines) |
| All-round entry point | Iberian Offensive, New Sobek City (neutral tempo) |
The Season 5 Map Landscape#
With Season 5 (live October 13, 2026) the map pool enters its “Siege of Vegas” phase, on a three-phase roadmap:
| Phase | Timing | Map Content |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 2026-10-13 | New map Vegas Strip (casinos, fountains, hotel towers, rooftop ziplines, storm drains) and Area 51 (desert military base, underground tunnels, jets/helicopters/tanks, collapsible control tower) |
| Phase 2 | 2026-11-10 | New map European Casino — the “20th map” referenced by the Game of the Year listing |
| Phase 3 | 2026-12 | Reworks of existing maps New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields |
Per the Steam listing: 19 maps are live, with the 20th planned for November 10 — matching Season 5 Phase 2’s European Casino. Add the REDSEC battle-royale-exclusive map Fort Lyndon (the largest BR map in series history) and the game’s map pool now spans the full spectrum from casinos to desert bases.
Map and Mode Fit#
The eight launch modes feel very different across map types:
| Mode | Best Map Types | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Conquest | All types, especially large maps | Multiple flags to contest plus a full vehicle loop |
| Breakthrough | Maps with clear attack/defense structure | One-directional push rhythm |
| Rush | Maps with distinct objective structures | Demolition play demands clear target points |
| Team Deathmatch / Squad Deathmatch | Compact urban maps | Engagement density decides the experience |
| King of the Hill / Zone Control | Compact maps | Repeated fighting over one area |
| Escalation | Mid-to-large maps | The escalating-objective mechanic needs room |
| Class Lock mode | Balanced maps | Class division of labor shows its value best in the open |
Map Reading Method (Universal in This Game)#
The following principles serve this game’s two signature systems; per-map applications are in the city and open map guides:
1. Treat Destruction as Map Vocabulary#
- On spawn, first locate the “blowable load-bearing structures” — buildings that collapse, floors you can punch through, walls you can open
- Attacker view: everything you blast open is a new path; defender view: everything that falls is an old position
- Within a single match the map keeps “opening up” — the second wave’s routes will be completely different from the first wave’s
2. Fold Verticality Into Your Routes#
- The kinesthetic combat system’s high-fall roll makes “jumping off a building” a low-cost action
- Rooftops, ziplines (Vegas Strip’s rooftop ziplines), and storm drains (the same map’s tunnels) are all officially designed vertical routes
- Vertical advantage equals vision advantage equals the core resource of the intelligence seat
Destruction and Verticality Quick Reference#
The two core variables for reading a map in this game are “what can be blown up” and “how many levels there are”:
| Map | Destruction Potential | Vertical Structure | Vehicle Density |
|---|---|---|---|
| Siege of Cairo | High — dense collapsible buildings | Low-to-mid-rise clusters | Low |
| Iberian Offensive | Medium — orderly block structure | Medium | Medium |
| Liberation Peak | Medium — mountain installations | Ridges and high ground | Medium-high (air-friendly) |
| Empire State | High — towers you can breach and drop | Very high (three stacked levels) | Low |
| Operation Firestorm | Medium-high — remaster rewrites the cover | Low (flat industrial zone) | Very high |
| Saints Quarter | Medium — compact blocks | Low | Low |
| New Sobek City | High — waterfront building clusters | Medium (bridge and waterfront levels) | Medium |
| Mirak Valley | Medium — mostly open terrain | Valley depth | Full vehicle lineup |
| Manhattan Bridge | Medium — bridge-deck structure | Medium (under and on the deck) | Low |
High destruction potential plus lots of vertical structure (Cairo, Empire State) makes an infantry map; high vehicle density (Firestorm, Mirak Valley) makes a vehicle map. Check yourself against this table before choosing a server.
Servers and Map Selection#
From the December Phase 3 onward, the server browser supports self-hosted persistent servers (always running, with configurable map rotations and other rules). Until then the browser mainly supports Portal mode — to lock in a few specific maps, look for matching custom experiences in Portal, or use in-game matchmaking and rotate with the map pool.
