007 First Light Stealth Tips

Stealth Tips#

What 007 First Light really inherits is the Hitman way of thinking: information matters more than aim, and preparation matters more than reflexes. A single level usually contains several genuinely different solutions, and “stealth” is simply the quietest one of them. This page covers the most broadly applicable approach.

1. Spycraft: Observation Is Its Own Reward#

The game turns “looking and listening” into a system with real output. Four actions run through almost the entire experience:

Technique What it does Payoff
Eavesdrop on key conversations Gather intel near your targets Opens new objectives, flags suspicious figures
Pickpocket key items Take keycards and documents off NPCs Opens restricted areas or advances the mission
Spot environmental clues Watch for physical evidence and traces in the scene Unlocks new entry routes
Use environmental interactions Switches, power, breakable structures Creates distractions or opens shortcuts

Core mindset: in this game, “taking one more lap” almost never costs you. Every minute you spend observing usually pays you back in the form of “one fewer hard fight”.

2. Social Stealth: Use the Door If You Can#

In many scenarios, the best solution is to walk through as a legitimate guest, not to crawl through a vent.

Technique Key point Risk
Disguise Put on the matching uniform to enter restricted areas Officers and senior guards can see through basic disguises
Bluff Spend Intuition to talk your way through an interrogation Intuition is limited; don’t treat it as a get-out-of-jail card
Blend into crowds Move naturally through clubs, dinners, resorts, and other social scenes Suspicious actions (lockpicking, climbing) expose you
Lure targets away Use the dart phone to send someone off-post to deal with a sudden illness Limited effect on elites fixed to their posts

The Kensington dinner in London and the resort in Vietnam are both levels built around social stealth as the main line. In these scenes, your behavior is your stealth meter.

3. Route Planning: Check the Challenges First#

Each mission segment’s challenge list is, in essence, the designers’ hint sheet for its solutions. For example, community guides have mapped out multiple named routes for the London “Uninvited Guest” level — roughly falling into four families: “enter from above”, “disguise as staff”, “slip in with the event flow”, and “go in loud”.

Recommended flow:

  1. Don’t rush in; sweep floors, guards, and interactables with the Q Lens first;
  2. Open the challenge list and see which “undetected” or “specific gadget” challenges exist;
  3. Pick a route that also covers side objectives and collectibles;
  4. Before setting out, return to the Q Lab and load out for that route.

4. The Q Lens: The Cheapest Reconnaissance Tool#

The Q Lens costs no resources and reveals enemies behind walls, pickups, and clues. The right way to use it is not “scan when nervous” but scan at the doorway of every new room:

  • Know in advance which corridors have patrols and which doors have someone behind them;
  • Mark collectibles and clues early so you never have to backtrack;
  • Discover optional routes early (vents, side doors, upper floors).

5. Cleanup: Don’t Let One Exposure Become Two#

Stealth usually fails not at “being spotted” but at “not cleaning up properly after being spotted”.

  1. Hide the bodies you drop: cabinets, dark corners, and water all work; a patrol finding one triggers an instant alarm;
  2. Tell “suspicious” from “alerted”: suspicion can still be resolved with a bluff or by leaving;
  3. Exit with smoke grenades and flash grenades: they exist precisely to “re-stealth after the cover is blown”;
  4. Don’t linger for a fight: once exposed, your first goal is “break line of sight”, not “drop everyone who saw you”.

6. Loadouts (Stealth-Oriented)#

Style Recommended gear Notes
Ghost Dart phone + smoke grenades + laser strap Never spotted from start to finish, non-lethal throughout
Balanced Q Watch + laser strap + dart phone Covers lockpicking, distraction, and non-lethal takedowns
Social infiltrator Dart phone + smoke grenades Manufactures controlled chaos in crowds and dinner scenes

Don’t forget to equip the laser strap: quite a few collectibles blocked by padlocks and vents can only be opened with it.

7. How Difficulty Affects Stealth#

  • Novice: enemies spot you later; the most forgiving;
  • Intended: enemies flank and cut you off, forcing you toward gadgets and routes instead of brute force;
  • Purist: enemies react fastest and almost never allow a “get spotted, then recover” save — stealth must be right the first time.

8. Pre-Mission Stealth Checklist#

Run through this in your head before moving out:

  • The Q Lens has swept the main areas; you know the guard tiers and positions;
  • The challenge list has been reviewed; you know this level’s “silent” conditions;
  • Loadout slots are set for this level’s route; the laser strap is on board;
  • Both charge meters are full;
  • You’ve already decided where to retreat to if spotted.

Hit these and the vast majority of levels end with “barely threw a punch” — which is exactly how Bond is supposed to operate.

9. Picking a Strategy by Scenario Type#

Scenario type Example level Recommended approach
Frozen wilderness Iceland prologue Lean on terrain and cover; scout before you move
Training facility Malta Learn the systems; drill the Q Lens and loadout loop
Social venues London club / Kensington dinner / Vietnam resort Disguise and bluff first; keep your hands off the trigger
Large sandbox Slovakia hotel Study challenges and routes before choosing how to get in
Underground black market Aleph, Mauritania Use crowds and noise for cover; time your pickpocketing
Corporate / research site Webb Industries / Antarctica Long infiltration runs with low tolerance; prioritize staying silent

10. Stealth and Challenges#

Many challenges reward “stay undetected”, “enter along a specific route”, or “non-lethal throughout”. They are both guidance and examination — clearing them means you have truly digested a level’s design. They can also be retried after the credits via chapter select or TacSim, so there is no need to force yourself to land every one of them on a single playthrough.
