Campaign Walkthrough#

This page is a flow guide for the Forsaken Kingdom expansion of Warcraft III: Reforged. First, its boundaries: Blizzard has not published a mission-by-mission list for the expansion, and we will not invent mission names, bosses, or reward numbers. What you get here is a progression plan and general tactics organized around the verified structure — for anything more specific, defer to what the game actually shows you. Key points for the base game’s seven campaigns are attached at the end.

Campaign Structure at a Glance#

Segment Structure Expected Share
Prologue: The Last Days of Lordaeron 4 linear missions from a capital guard’s perspective Transitional content, fairly short
Main campaign, 3 chapters Semi-open RPG: evolving Undercity hub + side quests + talent and gear progression The body of a roughly 30-hour run

Progression notes: the main campaign’s level cap is 20, with a talent system and equipment slots running through the whole ride; the prologue has no progression elements — just play through it normally.

Prologue Flow (4 Missions)#

The prologue is a traditional linear set of four locations taken in sequence. The broad strokes of each (details in-game):

  1. The capital of Lordaeron: an opening from a guard’s perspective that teaches controls and quest interaction; this stretch is story and positioning, with low combat pressure.
  2. The sewers: cramped underground passages where route choice and encounter handling matter; this is the future Undercity, and its foreshadowing value outweighs its combat difficulty.
  3. Andorhal: a plague-stricken town where objectives lean toward exploration and survival; advance carefully and you’ll be fine.
  4. The purged Stratholme: the prologue’s closing stretch, where atmosphere and combat intensity rise together. Finish it and the main campaign begins.

General advice: the prologue is a narrative segment with gentle difficulty. Don’t chase efficiency here — understanding how each location connects to the main campaign (the sewers especially) pays off directly once the hub gameplay opens up.

The Main Campaign’s Progression Framework#

The main campaign is a semi-open single-player RPG modeled on the Rexxar bonus campaign from The Frozen Throne, and it plays nothing like traditional missions:

1. Hub-First Principle#

The Undercity is an evolving hub map that unlocks new areas and functions as the story advances. Every time you return, run a fixed checklist:

  • Newly unlocked districts and shops (the core value of an evolving hub).
  • Side quests available for pickup (the main source of gear and resources).
  • Your unspent talent points and room to swap current equipment slots.

2. Balancing Side Quests Against the Main Line#

In a semi-open structure, the difficulty curve is driven by how deep your build is: pushing only the main line lets character strength fall behind the curve, and late chapters turn miserable fast. The rule of thumb: before advancing the story, clear every side quest you can currently reach and convert those resources into a round of talent and gear upgrades first.

3. Splitting Resources Between Two Protagonists#

Garek Bandarion and Anya are both controllable characters with their own progression lines, and the level cap of 20 is a hard boundary shared between them. Allocation advice:

  • Decide your main character’s talent direction first and keep the second at a switchable minimum depth.
  • Gear drops go to your primary fighter first; spreading them evenly leaves neither character coherent.
  • Before a section that wants the other character, check whether their gear and talents keep pace with the current chapter.

4. Choosing Between Talents and Gear#

  • Talents: a level cap of 20 means talent points are finite. Lock in your mid-game shape early and stop second-guessing it later.
  • Gear: equipment slots appreciate in value chapter by chapter. Swap in exploration drops promptly — don’t sentimentalize old pieces.
  • Blizzard has not detailed exact effect numbers for either system; trust what the game shows.

5. Handling a Two-Front Enemy Situation#

The Scarlet Crusade and the Scourge are the main campaign’s two hostile factions, each with its own territory and power curve. General principles:

  • Plan routes to avoid ping-ponging between the two factions’ turf; clearing one region at a time beats guerrilla raiding.
  • When you meet enemies beyond your current build depth, returning to the hub to gear up costs less time than brute-forcing it.

Base Game Campaign Essentials#

The base game packs 7 single-player campaigns (officially advertised as 60+ missions; the community count is 62 proper missions). The universal principles:

Principle Notes
Difficulty onboarding Reforged campaigns have three difficulty tiers, including a newcomer-friendly Story mode; unsure of your level? Start below the middle tier
Mission objectives Read the full objective briefing at the start of every mission — some have multi-stage goals, and misreading direction is the top cause of getting stuck
Hero leveling Creep camps are the main source of hero experience in campaign missions; your leveling rhythm sets your margin for error
Save discipline Manual-save at key moments; Hard mode disables cheat codes, so reloading and adjusting strategy beats grinding headfirst into a wall
Orc bonus campaign “The Founding of Durotar” is the semi-open structure that the expansion’s main campaign is patterned on — play it first as a point of comparison

As for mission-by-mission walkthrough text: no verifiable official mission documents exist, so we won’t fabricate per-mission routes. In-mission objectives, enemy setups, and rewards are whatever the game serves you.

Beyond the Flow: Numbers Worth Knowing#

  • Base game length: about 29.5 hours for the main line, about 54 hours for completion (HowLongToBeat figures).
  • Expansion length: prologue plus main campaign totals roughly 30 hours, including nearly an hour of in-engine cutscenes.
  • Combined expectation: base main line plus expansion lands around 60 hours; base completionists add another 25 or so.
  • Critical reference: the expansion scored 7/10 from IGN (2026-09-24) and 7/10 from VGChartz — reviewers broadly credit its scale and structural reinvention; see each outlet’s own text for the full verdict.

FAQ#

Stuck on a main-campaign chapter? Nine times out of ten, a wall in a semi-open structure is an under-leveled build: go back to the hub, clear side quests, patch up talents and gear, then retry. Still failing? Check whether your difficulty needs a step down — all three tiers are adjustable at any time, and Story mode locks nothing (the game has no achievement system to lock in the first place).

The mission names here don’t match what I see online? Trust what the game displays. This page invents no mission names, and any online mission list floating around is untrustworthy until Blizzard publishes an official one.

Do I need to beat the base game first? No — the expansion is playable standalone. But finishing the undead campaign of The Frozen Throne first makes the narrative land far better.
