Season Meta#

Season Meta

This page is based on Season 10 (which began on 2026-09-11). Meta strength shifts with every patch, so any judgment needs to factor in the current season’s balance adjustments.

Major Changes in Season 10#

Change Details
New hero Gorr the God Butcher (Duelist, the 54th hero)
Hero rework Scarlet Witch received a full rework with a new Curse mechanic
Balance scope Roughly seventy percent of heroes were adjusted (about 38)
Role-wide changes The ultimate charge rate of every Strategist was reduced
Other Some of Black Cat’s and Red Hood’s survival tools were nerfed

The defining feature of this balance pass is its sheer breadth: it is not a fine-tune aimed at a handful of heroes, but a change to more than half the roster at once. The across-the-board Strategist charge nerf directly reshaped the pacing of team fights.

Strong Heroes in Season 10#

Role Hero Notes
Duelist Gorr the God Butcher New hero; sustains through his Black Berserkers and entered the strong tier on release
Duelist Scarlet Witch Went from niche pick to viable after the rework, but the new mark-based playstyle takes practice
Strategist Mantis Healing efficiency was nerfed, yet she remains one of the highest-win-rate Strategists
Vanguard Peni Parker Consistent anti-dive value; a long-term frontline staple
Vanguard The Thing Reliable at soaking frontal pressure and breaking terrain
Duelist Wolverine High anti-tank value; a must-pick into heavy enemy frontlines
Duelist Magik Combines mobility with burst, well suited to dive compositions

The order above reflects “reliable value when picked in the current patch,” not an absolute power ranking. A hero’s actual performance depends heavily on team composition and player proficiency.

Trend Analysis#

Anti-Tank Heroes Are Rising in Value#

In the current patch, heroes who can pull a single tank out of the enemy formation (Wolverine, for example) are clearly more valuable. The reason is that double- and even triple-frontline compositions are common, and raw damage alone struggles to punch through healing.

Strategist Fight Openers Have Slowed Down#

After the ultimate charge rate of every Strategist was reduced, it became harder to brute-force through a burst of damage with a single mass-heal ultimate. Team fight windows are now shorter, and the side that engages first gains a bigger advantage.

High-Mobility Heroes Stay Strong#

Mobility has always been a scarce resource in Marvel Rivals. Maps have lots of verticality and objectives are far apart, so heroes who can reposition quickly are never weak in any meta.

The Adaptation Window for New Heroes#

New heroes are usually stronger right after launch than they are once things settle, because opponents do not know their kits yet. To judge whether a new hero is truly strong, wait two to three weeks of data rather than judging from launch week.

Trend Notes
Return of balanced ratios 2 Vanguards + 2 Duelists + 2 Strategists is still the mainstream
Situational triple frontline Extremely effective when the enemy lacks anti-tank tools
Team-up builds taken seriously Compositions that complete their team-up anchors have a clear edge at equal skill
More double-Strategist setups Into assassin-heavy lineups, two healers significantly raise the error margin

How to Handle Meta Shifts#

  1. Do not rely on tier lists alone: an unfamiliar strong hero loses to a mastered ordinary one
  2. Watch your own matches: if the same hero keeps dismantling you for several games in a row, it is time to prepare an answer
  3. Keep one all-purpose pick: a hero that is never weak no matter the meta, as your fallback
  4. Read the direction of changes, not the numbers: directional changes in patch notes such as “charge rate reduced” matter more than any single damage figure

Playstyle Advice#

What you want Suggestion
Climb steadily Use heroes that are meta-stable and do not depend on teammates
Raise your ceiling Master a high-mobility hero to expand your outplay room
Counter compositions Prepare one anti-tank hero and one backline diver
Adapt to a new patch fast Play dozens of Quick Match games first, then decide your main

FAQ#

Question Answer
Are there absolutely strongest heroes No. Strength shifts with the patch, and proficiency weighs heavier
Must I learn every new hero Not necessarily, but you should know their kits to avoid being caught off guard
How often does the meta update One big change per season, plus an X.5 update mid-season
How do I know the meta changed Follow the official patch notes, or watch which heroes get picked frequently in your games
Are tier lists trustworthy Useful as a reference, but different sample criteria and rank ranges produce different conclusions

Pick Advice by Role#

After reading the power trends, picking a hero still depends on your own role.

Your role Pick advice
Vanguard Prioritize heroes who can proactively start fights; if your team already has two frontliners, switch to an anti-dive type
Duelist Pick anti-tank heroes into heavy frontlines and assassin types into strong enemy healing
Strategist Prioritize kits with strong self-peel; if your team’s damage is sufficient, you do not have to force a damage-boosting pick
Deadpool Choose your form based on the team’s gaps; do not lock in a single playstyle from the start

The Observation Window for Meta Changes#

Judging the impact of a balance pass requires giving the patch enough time:

When What you can tell
Launch day Only whether the kit has obvious bugs
Week one Changes in the new hero’s ban and pick rates
Weeks two to three Win rate data stabilizes and composition trends start to form
End of season A complete verdict on the patch’s strong and weak

Over-relying on launch-day data leads to misjudgment. A new hero’s early strength usually comes from opponents not knowing the kit, not from overtuned numbers.
