Total War: ATTILA Achievements List#
Total War: ATTILA has 118 achievements on Steam: 89 from the base game and 29 across 7 DLC packs. This page records only verifiable achievement mechanics and route advice rather than listing every single entry; for the complete list, defer to what the Steam achievements page displays in real time.
The achievement structure is deeply tied to the campaign mode: the overwhelming majority of entries hang on faction victories and faction-specific mechanics across the three campaign maps, while battle and multiplayer entries make up a smaller share. The core of a full-completion plan is therefore not “hunting achievements” but “picking the right starting factions and scheduling the runs.”
Platform and Data Baseline#
First, clear up a common misreading: this is a Steam game, so achievements record only “unlocked / not unlocked” — there is no points concept. The G-score (Gamerscore) is an Xbox-platform notion; Steam achievements carry no score. The third-party tracker SteamHunters logs global players’ unlock rates, and the rarity data quoted on this page comes from there.
| Data point | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Total achievements | 118 | As shown live on the Steam achievements page |
| Base-game achievements | 89 | Shipped with the base game in February 2015 |
| DLC achievements | 29 | From 7 DLC packs, concentrated in the two campaign expansions |
| Rarest achievement | Tribute | Unlocked by roughly 0.5% of players worldwide |
| Most common achievement | Hammer & Anvil | Unlocked by roughly 89% of players worldwide |
| Temporarily unobtainable | 5 | Flagged by SteamHunters due to multiplayer server issues |
How the Campaign Achievements Are Built#
Campaign achievements form the bulk of the full-completion run, built around the three campaign maps and faction victories. Mechanically they split into four lines:
- Grand Campaign completion line: the main map starting in 395 AD, with achievements covering the victory conditions of many factions. Restarting with a new faction is the basic way to clear this line, and it is also the most time-consuming part.
- The Last Roman campaign: a DLC campaign — an Eastern Roman expedition line set in 533 AD — that carries its own separate set of campaign achievements sharing no progress with the Grand Campaign’s.
- Age of Charlemagne: a DLC campaign starting in 768 AD whose timeline and mechanics differ markedly from the main map; its achievements revolve around that map’s unification objectives and faction victories.
- Campaign mechanics line: the mechanics unique to this game — nomadic migration, religious conversion, tribute diplomacy, and more — each carry their own achievements. Tribute, the rarest in the game, belongs to the tribute line rather than rewarding any completion.
On faction coverage: the major Grand Campaign powers — the Western Roman Empire, the Eastern Roman Empire, the Huns, Sasanian Persia, and the various barbarian migration factions — all have distinct victory conditions, and their corresponding achievements are independent of one another. That means the faction-completion line has no shortcut; you can only clear it one starting faction at a time. Fortunately, on lower difficulty most factions’ victory conditions are not harsh, and quick runs can be compressed very short.
That is the structure; for every achievement’s exact name and unlock condition, defer to what the Steam achievements page displays in real time.
Battle, Naval, and Multiplayer Achievements#
Battle achievements mostly bind to specific battlefield behaviors — clear-cut mechanics that require no campaign and can progress incidentally in any match:
- Hammer & Anvil — attack an enemy unit that is already engaged, from behind. It is the most unlocked achievement in the game (about 89%) and pops naturally once you have fought a few encounters and made rear attacks a habit.
- Watery Graves — sink 100 ships in total. The fastest way to push this naval entry is to pick a faction that fights often on rivers and near coasts, treating river interceptions and sea blockades as routine tactics.
- Raw Recruit and Veteran Scrapper — both belong to the multiplayer Quick Battle line: Veteran Scrapper asks for 25 multiplayer Quick Battle wins, while Raw Recruit is the line’s entry-level item; for its exact condition, defer to the Steam achievements page in real time.
One trap on the multiplayer line you must know in advance: SteamHunters flags 5 achievements as currently unobtainable in practice due to multiplayer server problems. That means a clean “118/118 collection” is not feasible right now — plan with those 5 excluded from your targets; meanwhile, handle the remaining multiplayer entries early rather than leaving them for last.
How to Plan the Quick Battle Line#
Quick Battle is a fast head-to-head mode that matches opponents directly, with no campaign map involved. The 25-win target itself is not hard; the hard part is that server conditions decide whether this line even flows right now:
- Verify first, invest second: from the multiplayer menu, play one or two Quick Battles to confirm matchmaking and settlement work before committing a whole block of time.
- Short matches, batch-farmed: a single Quick Battle takes at most a dozen-odd minutes — far shorter than a campaign — so treat it as a side dish done in batches between campaigns.
- If it doesn’t flow, skip it: if matchmaking keeps hanging or results fail to record, don’t grind on — this line’s uncertainty comes from the servers, not from your play.
Rare Achievements and Representative Entries#
The table below lists only verifiable representative entries rather than every item; for the complete list, defer to what the Steam achievements page displays in real time.
| Achievement | Unlock condition | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Hammer & Anvil | Attack an enemy unit that is already engaged, from behind | Unlocked by about 89% — the most common in the game |
| Raw Recruit | Entry-level item of the Quick Battle line | As shown live on the Steam achievements page |
| Veteran Scrapper | Win 25 multiplayer Quick Battles | The multiplayer line’s representative entry |
| Watery Graves | Sink 100 ships in total | As shown live on the Steam achievements page |
| This is Total War! | Declare war on every faction you meet and never make peace until victory | A high-difficulty challenge entry |
| Caesar Reborn | Complete a campaign on Legendary difficulty with all battles fought manually | The core gate of the full-completion route |
| Tribute | As the Hunnic faction, obtain 2,000 tribute from Rome | Unlocked by about 0.5% — the rarest in the game |
Tribute’s difficulty deserves its own note: it asks you to play the Huns and force Rome to pay tribute through diplomatic leverage — not a pure military steamroll, but pounding Rome into a state where it would rather pay, then stacking the extortion mechanic up to 2,000. This achievement visibly stretches a campaign’s rhythm; open a dedicated Hunnic campaign for it alone and keep it out of your other achievements’ planning.
Keep the other two high-barrier entries distinct as well: This is Total War! tests diplomacy management rather than battlefield play, its difficulty being the snowballing multi-front war that “never making peace” guarantees; Caesar Reborn tests sheer workload and patience — fighting every battle by hand on Legendary multiplies a single campaign’s real-time cost several times over. The two mechanics are mutually exclusive, so giving each its own run is the only sensible schedule.
Campaign Types and Their Achievement Focus#
| Campaign type | Achievement focus | Suggested difficulty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Campaign | Faction-completion line and mechanics line (migration, religion, tribute) | Any | The map with the most achievements |
| The Last Roman | Expedition-line campaign achievements | Moderate | DLC content, purchased separately |
| Age of Charlemagne | The DLC campaign’s completion and unification objectives | Moderate | Very different timeline and mechanics — allow time to relearn |
| Multiplayer Quick Battle | Multiplayer entries such as Veteran Scrapper | — | Affected by server issues; clear these early |
Feasibility of Full Completion#
With the 5 entries flagged as unobtainable removed, the remaining targets fall into three tiers; when planning, set your goal by the realistic ceiling:
| Target tier | Count covered | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Full collection | 118 | Theoretical; unattainable right now due to multiplayer server issues |
| Realistic full sweep | 113 | The obtainable ceiling after excluding the 5 flagged entries |
| Single-campaign sweep | As shown live on the Steam achievements page | What running a single campaign map alone can cover |
Working back from the realistic ceiling of 113, the bulk of the workload is “Grand Campaign faction-completion line + completions of both campaign DLCs + the campaign mechanics line + 25 Quick Battle wins,” capped off with a dedicated Hunnic tribute run and a permanent-war run. That total is on the heavy side for the Total War series; spreading it across several weeks is more realistic than binge-grinding in one stretch.
Route Recommendations#
Full collection is unrealistic given the 5 unobtainable entries, but “take everything you can” can be planned in this order:
- Run your main campaign on Legendary difficulty with every battle fought manually. Caesar Reborn demands Legendary difficulty and no auto-resolve — the hardest gate on the whole route. Merging it with one full faction completion into a single long run saves an entire campaign compared to clearing easy runs first and re-running on Legendary. The Legendary run also sweeps up most battle achievements along the way — battlefield-behavior entries like Hammer & Anvil pop naturally.
- Give This is Total War! its own run. Declaring war on sight and never making peace wrecks diplomacy beyond repair — never mix it into the Legendary main run; pick a low-difficulty faction in a relatively safe spot on the map and run this line in isolation.
- Farm faction-completion achievements with quick runs. The Grand Campaign victory achievements set no difficulty bar; clear them one by one with goal-oriented quick runs on moderate difficulty.
- Schedule one completion of each campaign DLC. The Last Roman and Age of Charlemagne achievements only unlock on those two maps; one run apiece covers them all.
- Close out multiplayer entries early. Given that server problems have already locked 5 achievements away, handle the remaining multiplayer entries (such as Veteran Scrapper’s 25 Quick Battle wins) in the first half of your schedule, before matchmaking thins out later.
- Save Tribute for a dedicated Hunnic run. Extorting tribute means suppressing Rome over the long haul while keeping diplomatic pressure up; a purpose-built Hunnic campaign avoids dragging down the pacing of every other run.
How to Track Progress#
- Steam client: right-click the game in your library and open the achievements page to see each achievement’s unlock state and global unlock rate.
- SteamHunters: the go-to third-party source for global unlock rates and “unobtainable” flags when judging rarity and feasibility.
- Names, unlock conditions, and totals can change at any time with updates — what the Steam achievements page displays in real time is the authority, and this page does not maintain a per-entry list.
