Transport Fever 3 FAQ#
About This Page#
This page collects the most frequent questions asked around the launch of Transport Fever 3. Answers are based on officially announced information and fall into three groups: purchasing, platforms and requirements, and gameplay mechanics. Each answer aims to give you concrete criteria rather than vague advice, so you can match your own situation to it.
Buying and Editions#
Q: Standard, Deluxe, or Collector’s Edition — which one should I get?
It comes down to whether you want the legendary vehicles and physical collectibles. The Standard Edition is the base game only. The Deluxe Edition adds 6 legendary vehicles (the Concorde, a London double-decker bus, the Trans Europ Express, a Peterbilt 359 truck, a Hong Kong tram, and the Sikorsky S-76 Spirit helicopter), 2 building landmarks (the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal), 4 animal species, 3 handcrafted maps (Redrock Bends, Northern Gates, Emerald Shores), Tycoon Cars, 3 fun items, and the soundtracks of past games in the series. The Collector’s Edition ($119.99, limited to 10,000 copies initially) is the digital Deluxe Edition plus physical goods — a statue, a 200-page art book, cards, a music box, and more — making it the pick for series collectors.
Q: Do returning players get a discount?
Yes. Owners of Transport Fever 2 get a 10% loyalty discount on the Standard or Deluxe Edition when buying on the same platform, valid for 14 days after release. Mind the “same platform” condition — cross-platform purchases do not qualify.
Q: Can I still get the pre-order bonuses?
The pre-order bonuses contain three items: the legendary cruise ship TS Queen Mary, the Great Pyramid of Giza landmark, and the Asian elephant wild animal. Whether they can be bought separately after the pre-order period ends depends on each platform store’s actual listing.
Q: Where should I buy it?
On PC the game is available on Steam, Epic, and GOG (a series first for GOG); on console it is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The deciding criteria: which platform holds your saves and achievements, and whether you want to use the returning-player 10% same-platform discount.
Platforms and Requirements#
Q: Can my PC run it?
Run through a three-step self-check. First, does your CPU support the AVX2 instruction set (a hard requirement; the official minimum is a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600X)? Second, do you have 90GB of solid-state drive space (an SSD is officially mandatory)? Third, does your GPU reach GTX 1060 / RX 480 / Arc A380 level (4GB VRAM)? Pass all three and you can play at minimum settings; the recommended experience line is a Core i7-13700K or Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 3070 / RX 6800 / Arc A770 (8GB VRAM).
Q: Can I play on Mac?
Only Apple Silicon machines can run it: at minimum an M2 Pro with 16GB of RAM (macOS Sequoia 15.7 or later), recommended M4 Pro with 24GB of RAM. Intel Macs are not supported.
Q: Is Linux supported?
Yes, Ubuntu 24.04 and above, with hardware requirements matching the Windows tiers.
Q: When do the console versions come out?
They already launched alongside PC — the game released simultaneously on all platforms on September 29, 2026. The previous game’s “PC first, consoles three years later” situation does not exist this time.
Q: Is Chinese supported?
Yes. Voice acting is in English and German, and text supports both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Gameplay Mechanics#
Q: Which mode should a first-timer pick?
If you are new to the series, warm up in the campaign first (its missions are inspired by real historical events and force you through every system); for the full management experience go straight to Tycoon mode (highly adjustable difficulty, with town prosperity and company level as formal goals); if you just want to build, pick Sandbox. See Game Modes and Difficulty for details.
Q: What line should I build first?
A road connecting the nearest industry to the nearest town — prioritize the three criteria of short routes, two-way demand, and gentle terrain. The full opening routine is covered in Beginner’s Guide and Opening Strategy.
Q: Why is my fleet getting slower and slower?
The most common cause is lapsed maintenance — vehicles in this game maintain themselves automatically while operating within range of the appropriate facility, and a neglected fleet gradually slows down while producing more noise and pollution. Find the gaps in maintenance coverage and build the missing facilities to recover. See Vehicle Maintenance and Fleet Upkeep.
Q: My warehouse is overflowing — what do I do?
Warehouses only buffer, they never consume; an overflow means downstream capacity is short. Add vehicles to the downstream line or split the line — don’t expect the warehouse to clear its own stock. See Cargo Industry Chains and Factory Connections.
Q: How do I troubleshoot constant rail congestion?
Work through the sequence “congestion point → junction jam or segment jam → loading/unloading delays → vehicle maintenance → structural expansion”. Most congestion is not a signaling problem but a loading-chain or maintenance problem. See Railway Signaling.
Q: Town happiness keeps dropping — why?
Check in the order “noise overlay → traffic hotspots → delivery problems → governance investment”. The root cause is usually on the transport side (neglected vehicles, main lines through town, missing goods). See City Districts and Pollution Control.
Q: Can I install mods? Do they work on consoles too?
Yes. The game supports cross-platform mods and ships with an in-game mod browser (browse and install right from the main menu), and console players can use community content as well. For long-running tycoon saves, stick to verified mods — see Mods and the Workshop.
Q: Why does my game get more laggy the longer I play?
Simulation load grows with scale, and total vehicle count, city size, and data overlays are the three biggest load sources. The troubleshooting order and hardware upgrade priorities (CPU before GPU) are covered in Performance Optimization and Graphics Settings.
Q: Which vehicles unlock in which era, exactly?
The officials have not published the year boundaries of each era or a complete vehicle roster; for such details, rely on the in-game vehicle panel. Era transition strategy and investment pacing are covered in Era Progression and Vehicle Replacement.
Q: What is the most efficient way to use data overlays?
Follow the principle “fixed inspection order, turn off when done”: sweep the three overlays (traffic hotspots, delivery problems, noise pollution) in a fixed order, note the problem areas, close the visualization right away, then go handle them. Running multiple overlays at once is reserved for dedicated investigations. See UI and Basic Controls.
Q: What does the town experience from contracts do?
Town experience is part of the tycoon-mode goal chain — the rewards from the contract and subsidy system include reputation and town experience in addition to money, and the latter ties directly into town prosperity and company progress. When weighing contracts, look beyond the payout: progress currency is worth just as much. See Missions and Achievements.
Q: Can I terraform freely?
Technically yes (terrain sculpting, ground painting, vegetation placement), but weigh the cost — according to media reports, reshaping terrain affects resident satisfaction, and the budget for major works is nothing to sneeze at. Detours first, engineering second is the standing rule of terrain decisions. See Terrain Editing, Bridges and Tunnels.
