UFL Guide#

About This Guide#

UFL (Ultimate Football League) is a free-to-play football game from Cyprus-based Strikerz Inc. Development started in 2016, and the studio spent roughly eight years bringing the game to market. Its core pitch is “fair-to-play”: skill first, zero pay-to-win, with an official promise not to sell power that distorts competitive balance. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and made in partnership with FIFPRO, the global professional footballers’ union, carrying more than 5,000 licensed real players.

The release cadence is worth pinning down: consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) came first on December 5, 2024; the PC (Steam) full release followed on December 5, 2025 (Early Access from November 7, 2025); and mobile (Android, iOS) reached global open release on May 22, 2026. A lot of Chinese media shorthand this as “a 2025 launch on three platforms at once,” which is the wrong reading — launch platforms were consoles only, with PC and mobile landing later in sequence.

This hub is built on online-verified information as of October 2026, covering the game’s fundamentals, its currency system, signing and progression mechanics, every online and offline mode, and the complete update timeline from the open betas to Season 26/27. Anything without verifiable sourcing is marked as such rather than guessed at.

SP Star Points Unlocking reward tiers on the Team Pass

Ambassadors and Licensed Clubs#

The face of UFL is Cristiano Ronaldo — both lead ambassador and investor. Two figures circulate for his investment: English Wikipedia records the investment group he joined in 2023 putting in about £32 million, while Chinese tech-media reporting says Ronaldo invested $40 million in December 2023. Both versions stand, and this site does not rule between them. The early ambassador lineup also included Kevin De Bruyne, Roberto Firmino, Romelu Lukaku, and Oleksandr Zinchenko; in September 2025 the studio announced Federico Valverde and Raphinha as new ambassadors.

On club partnerships, the studio has announced tie-ups with West Ham United, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Celtic, Rangers, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting CP, Monaco, and Besiktas, among others. One easy-to-miss detail: the real-club licensing covers squad content in online modes, while offline you face 29 fictional in-game teams, not real-club squads.

Media and Player Reception#

Metacritic’s PS5 page currently shows no final critic score yet (3 reviews listed, two of them scored 70); the user score sits at 3.6/10 based on 64 ratings, 63% of them negative. No verifiable aggregate for the Steam review score could be found, so none is quoted here. How the game holds up long term depends on the content cadence of the seasons ahead.

  • EA Sports FC 26 — EA’s annual football release with the fullest mode lineup; its Ultimate Team loop is the natural comparison for UFL’s signing system
  • eFootball 2026 — Konami’s free-to-play football game, the closest structural match to UFL’s free-with-purchases model
  • Football Manager 2026 — a deep football management simulation that covers the club-running experience UFL does not offer

How UFL Differs from EA FC and eFootball#

  • Monetization structure: UFL is entirely free, with CP/LP top-ups and the Team Pass / Elite Pass as the paid layer and no boxed version; EA FC is premium-plus-purchases, eFootball is free-plus-purchases.
  • Squad synergy naming: UFL’s mechanic is “Connection” — players who share a playstyle, nationality, or league link up and lift team performance. “Chemistry” is EA FC’s mechanic name and has nothing to do with this game.
  • Signing logic: UFL signs players with a CP bid plus an RP gate, and the RP cap is tied to your ranked division; that gate design is what separates it from a pure pack-opening route.
  • Mode emphasis: at launch UFL has no career mode and no club-management mode; the lineup is Online Ranked, Casual, Tournaments, and offline play. Players who want single-player management and a career experience need to pick a different title.
