About This Guide#
eFootball 2026 is a free-to-play football simulation game developed by Konami. The series has been updated every year since Pro Evolution Soccer was rebranded as eFootball in 2022. It is built on Unreal Engine 4 and runs a free-to-play plus in-app purchase model, with core content centered on building a Dream Team, online ranked matches, co-op play, and Master League (a paid DLC).
For the 2026 World Cup year, eFootball 2026 shipped a large-scale World Cup themed update, adding national team licenses, a World Cup mode, and related events.
This guide covers the game’s modes in detail, control techniques, Dream Team building strategy, player data analysis, and a cross-platform play guide, so both free and paying players can get the most out of the game.

Advanced Techniques#
- Fake shot into a pass: press shoot, then immediately cancel into a pass — it drags defenders out of their stance.
- One-two play: L1 + short pass starts a wall pass, an effective way to break down packed defenses.
- Precise long switches: R2 + long ball plays a high-arcing, accurate switch of play, ideal for flipping the attack’s direction quickly.
- Manual keeper: when defending a corner, press R3 to switch to the keeper and position them to cut out crosses.
- Tactical presets: cycle preset tactics (possession, defensive, counter, and more) with up/down on the d-pad mid-match, no pause needed.
The 2026 World Cup Theme#
The World Cup is the most important content addition in eFootball 2026:
- Complete national team licenses: authentic kits, crests, and player data for the 32 World Cup finals teams
- World Cup mode: the full tournament experience from the group stage to the final, playable offline and online
- Live updates: player form and squad adjustments synced with the real tournament
- World Cup player cards: limited-edition World Cup themed cards with stat bonuses
- Prediction events: predict real match results to win in-game rewards

- Attacking style: possession play suits technical sides; quick counters suit teams with fast strikers.
- Defensive style: front-line pressure demands high-stamina midfielders, while all-out defense suits protecting a lead.
- Build-up method: short passing suits teams with strong midfields; long balls suit sides whose strikers win physical duels.
- Advanced instructions: False Full-back (full-backs tuck inside on the counter) and Flank Flip (the two wingers swap sides) effectively scramble an opponent’s defensive setup.
