| 11 | Lethal Company | Zeekerss | 2023 | 85/100 | A unique horror co-op niche, superb voice-chat atmosphere, randomly generated monsters keep runs fresh, active mod community | Small content volume, you must find your own teammates, slow update cadence |
| 12 | Borderlands 2 | Gearbox Software | 2012 | 90/100 | The looter-shooter co-op ceiling, rich character skill trees, mountains of guns,满分 humorous story | Noticeable power creep, heavy late-game grind, divisive art style |
| 13 | Cuphead | Studio MDHR | 2017 | 89/100 | Impeccable hand-drawn art, brilliant boss design, co-op lowers difficulty while adding fun, top-tier jazz soundtrack | Brutally difficult, short campaign, boss-rush only, no levels |
| 14 | Deep Rock Galactic | Ghost Ship Games | 2020 | 86/100 | Perfect four-class synergy, unique mining-plus-combat gameplay, procedurally generated maps, an extremely friendly community | Limited mission types, strong late-game repetition, visually dark |
| 15 | Two Point Campus | Two Point Studios | 2022 | 82/100 | Delightful management-sim co-op, comedic and relaxed style, varied level objectives | Co-op is just shared management, lacks true co-op mechanics, repetitive late-game |

| 18 | Sons of the Forest | Endnight Games | 2024 | 84/100 | Immersive survival-horror co-op, practical AI companion division of labor (Kelvin/Virginia), deep building systems | PC (Steam) only, a rushed story conclusion, some bugs |
6. Overcooked 2#
If one game can test the strength of a relationship, it’s Overcooked 2. In this kitchen simulation, 1-4 players must cook together in increasingly absurd environments — from moving trucks to erupting volcanoes, from space stations to icy pursuits. Chaos is the game’s byword: stoves catch fire, plates shatter, ingredients hit the floor, teammates dump soup on your head — all made frantic by the timer. Yet it is precisely this carefully designed chaos that creates co-op gaming’s most joyful moments. Worth pondering: if you can stay calm and communicate effectively in this game, your relationship can withstand anything.
7. Minecraft#
Minecraft is the freest presence in co-op gaming. No mandatory quests, no prescribed goals — all you and your friends can do is create. Someone builds the base, someone mines resources, someone explores the map, someone fights monsters. This spontaneous division of labor gives every server its own story. The game supports cross-play, so PC, console, and mobile players can all play together. Co-op Minecraft is not just a game but a virtual social space — countless real friendships have been built in this blocky world.
15. The Two Point Series#
Two Point Studios’ Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus bring management-sim fun into co-op gaming. Without a traditional co-op campaign, the shared management experience lets players plan and build together and make decisions as a team. The relaxed, humorous style suits casual players who don’t want much pressure. But the co-op depth is genuinely limited — it’s essentially shared management authority, lacking mechanics that require close two-player cooperation. Recommended for management-sim fans seeking a relaxed experience.
18. Sons of the Forest#
At number 18 is Sons of the Forest: Endnight Games’ 1.0 full release launched February 22, 2024, currently on PC (Steam) only, with no console versions. Its predecessor The Forest released in 2018; they are different games. Sons of the Forest’s most viral design is its AI companions — Kelvin and Virginia: the former takes commands to chop wood, haul materials, and build camp, while the latter patrols the camp perimeter alone. This “AI teammates handle the chores” co-op form is rare in survival games, and it’s why it made this list.
