Civilization 7 Builds Guide#

City Layout#

Civilization 7’s city layouts keep the district system—but with major simplification. City Center + specialized Districts + unique Buildings form the core of your city

District Planning Principles#

Principle Notes
Adjacency Bonuses Districts placed together earn bigger bonuses than spread-out ones
Terrain Use Rivers/mountains/coast provide extra bonuses for specific Districts
Civ Traits Unique Buildings need specific adjacency conditions—plan ahead
Wonder Placement Wonders have terrain requirements (near coast, on flat land, etc.)
City Count 3-4 specialized cities + a handful of secondary cities is the optimum

Classic City Layout#

Example layout (T-shape):

       [Mountains](https://ntgame.com/civ7/world/)

Economy Builds#

Gold Flow#

Core buildings:

  1. Market + Bank
  2. Harbor + Lighthouse + Shipyard

Social Policies and Traditions:

  • Reserve slots for government traditions and civ-unique traditions that carry across Ages—when the Age transition wipes regular policies, this investment stays put
  • Pick regular social policies from the current Age’s Civics tree: for a Gold flow, prioritize Trade and Gold policies so trade routes and harbor output snowball
  • Crisis policies that appear at the end of an Age take up dedicated slots, separate from regular policies—an economic route doesn’t need to hold regular slots for them

Recommended civ: Portugal

Production Flow#

Core buildings:

  1. Workshop + Factory
  2. Aqueduct + Bath

Social Policies and Traditions:

  • Same priority on cross-Age government traditions and civ-unique traditions—Production is a long game, and cross-Age policy assets hold their value best
  • Pick regular social policies from the current Age’s Civics tree: for military, pair upkeep-cost and unit-output policies so expanding the army doesn’t wreck your finances
  • Crisis policies at the end of an Age only fill dedicated slots and never crowd out regular ones—your production setup proceeds as normal

Recommended civ: Germany

Food/Population Flow#

Core buildings:

  1. Aqueduct
  2. Bath
  3. Granary

Recommended civ: Egypt

Resource Management#

Iron Classical Swordsmen + siege engines
Niter Medieval Musketmen + Artillery
Coal Industrial Factory + Ironclad
Oil Modern Tanks + Aircraft + Battleships
Aluminum Atomic Aircraft + Spaceship
Uranium Atomic Nuclear weapons + Nuclear Plant

Resource Trading Strategy#

  1. Resources you have in surplus—sell them to the AI for Gold—don’t hoard
  2. If you lack a strategic resource—buy it from the AI first—don’t let your army go useless over a missing resource
  3. Diminishing returns on Luxury resources—a second copy of the same Luxury gives only half the yield

Civ-Specific Builds#

China’s Great Wall Build#

Core: Build Great Wall segments—each segment +4 Culture +2 Gold—linked segments earn extra bonuses

Strategy: Line the Great Wall up in a row along your borders—double payoff of defense plus Culture

Rome Expansion Build#

Core: The Bath + Aqueduct combo delivers huge Food and Production

Strategy: Build the Bath first—then spam cities—every automatically connected road pays Gold

British Naval Empire#

Core: Harbor + Shipyard + Factory—the trio doubles your Gold

Strategy: Build a Harbor in every coastal city—Factories give the city a Production bonus
