Boss Guide#
Wuthering Waves organizes bosses into three systems: Overlord-class world bosses in the open world, weekly-capped Tacet Discord bosses, and Holographic solo timed challenges. This page lists verified boss rosters, location clues, and fight notes.
The Boss Tier System#
The game tags high-tier enemies on two levels:
| Tier | English | Bosses | Echo Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overlord | Overlord | World bosses | 4-cost echoes |
| Tsunami | Calamity | Weekly bosses | Calamity-class echoes |
World Bosses (1.0 Overlord Class)#
Version 1.0 ships nine Overlord-class world bosses, with their habitats:
| Boss | Habitat Clue |
|---|---|
| Crownless | — |
| Feilian Beringal | Dim Forest |
| Impermanence Heron | — |
| Inferno Rider | — |
| Lampylumen Myriad | Tiger’s Maw |
| Mech Abomination | — |
| Mourning Aix | Whining Aix’s Mire |
| Tempest Mephis | — |
| Thundering Mephis | — |
Blank habitat cells mean no verifiable location was documented — we won’t invent coordinates. The in-game map’s tracking pins every boss’s spawn; trust it over any list.
Two corrections to widely-circulated errors: some old guides name two Overlord bosses that don’t exist in the game at all, and one frequently-misspelled entry refers to Lampylumen Myriad with a wrong character in its CN name. Double-check any boss list against the in-game tracker before planning routes.
Fight Notes#
- World bosses are open-world content, challengeable anytime, costing no Waveplates.
- Overlord-class bosses drop 4-cost echoes — the core source for your main builds and the highest-value farm.
- Adjust the team per boss element: avoid a main DPS sharing the boss’s element (the resistance rule is on the Combat System page).
Signature Materials#
World bosses drop ascension materials for their matching characters. Only one drop is explicitly verified — Dreamless drops its signature feather, the ascension material for the characters that need it; the other bosses’ material names haven’t been verified one by one, so we don’t list a materials table. The in-game drop preview is the authority.
World Level and Echo Budget#
Two things to check before farming world bosses:
- World level: open-world difficulty is governed by SOL3 Phase, advancing roughly every 10 Union Levels, with promotion quests at Union 20, 40, and 60. Compare boss strength at your current phase against your team’s investment before charging in; the full phase system is on the World Exploration page.
- Echo budget: the 4-cost echoes from Overlords occupy the single largest slot in your echo budget — which starts at 8 and only reaches the full 12 (standard 4+3+3+1+1) at Data Bank level 9. At budget 8, one team fits at most two 4-cost echoes, so concentrate early farming on your main character’s core echoes instead of spreading across the whole team; the budget growth track is on the Echo System page.
- Alternate source: world bosses aren’t the only 4-cost channel — the echo-clearing activity unlocked at Union Level 19 (60 Waveplates per run) also produces echoes. World bosses win on being free and repeatable; the activity wins on being targeted. They complement each other when you’re short; the full domain cost/requirement comparison is on the Material Domains page.
Weekly Bosses (Tacet Discord)#
Six weekly bosses, unlocked at Union Level 15, with 3 reward counts per week at 60 Waveplates each:
| Boss |
|---|
| Scar |
| Bell-Borne Geochelone |
| Dreamless |
| Jué |
| Hecate |
| Threnodian: Leviathan |
Locations: the Bell-Borne Geochelone haunts the Bell-Borne Ravine area of the Gorges of Spirits near Jinzhou; Dreamless waits at the heart of the Crownless Colossus in the Beiluo Wilds.
Warning: some old guides list a weekly boss called “Gladiator” — no such boss exists. Don’t plan your weekly counts around a bogus roster.
Dreamless Spotlight#
Dreamless is a major story boss and one of the earliest weekly entries:
- Location: the heart of the Crownless Colossus in the Beiluo Wilds.
- Drops: the Dreamless feather (ascension material for matching characters) plus Calamity-class (4-cost) echoes.
- Mechanics note: as a Tsunami-class boss, its echo is high-cost — a prime collection target while building teams.
- Where the echo goes: the Dreamless echo is a 4-cost Calamity echo; once obtained it usually equips your core damage-dealer first. Loadout thinking is on the Team Comps & Builds page.
Detailed per-boss mechanics belong to in-game testing; we won’t expand on each one. Attack patterns and resistances show on each challenge screen.
Weekly Bosses vs. Boss Rush#
The weekly “Tacet Discord” mode is often confused with another 60-Waveplate activity, the boss-rush challenge. They serve different purposes:
- Boss rush: unlocks at Union Level 10, always open, no weekly cap — farm as needed when Waveplates allow.
- Tacet Discord: unlocks at Union Level 15, costs 60 Waveplates per run, but only 3 reward counts per week; unused counts don’t carry over.
Planning principle: weekly counts are the scarcest resource — always spend all 3 each week first, then route leftover Waveplates into boss rush per your progression needs. Full costs and unlock comparisons are on the Material Domains page.
Holographic Project#
The Holographic Project is a solo timed challenge: pick a boss, climb difficulty levels.
- Each boss has 6 difficulty tiers; new bosses join with each version.
- Strictly solo — no teammates to lean on. It tests your parry and dodge-counter mastery.
- Reward differences between the 6 tiers follow the in-game display.
Preparation thinking: Holographics test parry and dodge-counter fluency — mechanics covered on the Combat System page. The cheapest practice field is the world bosses themselves: no Waveplate cost, always available. Drill a boss’s dodge and parry timings in the overworld first, then climb the Holographic tiers — far faster than face-planting into high difficulty cold.
Where Holographics sit in the endgame system is on the Endgame page.
Special Event Enemies#
Beyond the three permanent systems, version events introduce limited enemies — for example “Nightmare: Adam Smasher,” added with the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration. Event enemies and their rewards open and close with their versions; whether a permanent challenge entry remains follows the in-game state. The current event’s enemy list and drops are on the Events page.
Farming Plan#
| Goal | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 4-cost echoes | World bosses | Free (no Waveplates) |
| Advanced skill materials | Tacet Discord | 60 Waveplates × 3 per week |
| Ascension materials | World bosses / boss rush | See the Material Domains page |
Weekly counts don’t accumulate — prioritize them when short on skill materials; world bosses have no cap, so when echoes run dry, batch-farm by habitat.
Waveplate Budget Math#
Laying out the Waveplate costs makes planning concrete:
- Fixed weekly spend: Tacet Discord 3 × 60 = 180 Waveplates — the largest fixed weekly expense. Missing a week wastes the counts themselves, not just the plates.
- Regen rate: cap 240, +1 every 6 minutes, roughly 24 hours to refill. One daily dump of stamina covers the weekly spend, and since version 1.2 overflow converts into a storable crystallized resource, an occasionally forgotten day isn’t a total loss.
- Emergency refill: 1 Crystal Solvent restores 60 Waveplates — save it for weekly-count week or new-character leveling windows, not casual top-ups.
World bosses cost zero Waveplates — a free echo source. The priority line: short on echoes → farm bosses first; short on skill materials → route Waveplates into the weekly and material domains. That ordering saves hours of regen waiting. The full daily-stamina discipline checklist is on the Tips & Tricks page.
