This page only answers questions that our fact cards (official public information and verifiable sources) can back up. Anything we can’t verify gets answered with “no verifiable information found” or “defer to the game itself” — we never make answers up.

Release and Platforms#

Q: When does the game launch?

A: September 17, 2026, worldwide. The timeline: a teaser bundled with the previous game on September 16, 2025, the official announcement on December 18, 2025, the release date locked in on April 17, 2026, and the demo going live on August 20, 2026.

Q: Why do some sites list a September 16 release date?

A: The 9/16/2026 date shown by US data sites (Steambase, SteamDB) is a timezone artifact and shouldn’t be cited as the release date. This site consistently uses September 17, 2026.

Q: Which platforms is the game on?

A: Four platforms: Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam (Windows PC). That’s the same lineup as the previous remake, Trails in the Sky the 1st.

Q: How does this game relate to Trails in the Sky the 1st?

A: This game is a full remake of the 2006 original Trails in the Sky SC (Second Chapter), the second entry in the Trails series’ 20th-anniversary full-remake project. Trails in the Sky the 1st, the first entry, is a full remake of the 2004 Trails in the Sky FC and launched on September 19, 2025. The story picks up directly where it left off.

Buying and Editions#

Q: How much does each edition cost?

A: On Steam, the Standard Edition is $59.99 USD (10% launch discount brings it to $53.99); the Digital Deluxe Edition is $79.99 USD (9 items included); the Season Pass is $24.99 USD. Hong Kong/Taiwan pricing: Standard HK$468 / NT$1,880; Switch 2 Edition HK$478 / NT$1,911; Digital Deluxe HK$649 / NT$2,530; the Ouroboros BOX Limited Edition HK$698 / NT$2,840; Season Pass HK$266 / NT$950. Full details in the editions and platforms guide.

Q: What’s in the Digital Deluxe Edition?

A: The Steam Digital Deluxe Edition is the base game + 7 DLC packs (cheerleader outfits, Orbment Cover Set · 2nd, Pom headgear set, sports day set, festive effects set, Glasses Set A, radiant hair color set) + the Season Pass — 9 items in total. The circulating claims of a “68-track soundtrack” and a “120-page art book” have no source behind them; don’t trust them.

Q: Are there microtransactions or paid DLC?

A: Yes. The Steam store lists 14 DLC items, including the Season Pass, Battle Boost Pack, Orbment Cover Set, and several costume/effects packs. Claims of “no microtransactions, no paid content” don’t match the store page.

Q: What’s the preorder bonus? Does the Steam version include it?

A: The first-print/preorder bonus is a download code for the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC (with HD visuals, high-speed mode, and journal features; Japanese voice and subtitles only). The Steam version does not include this bonus.

Q: What’s inside the Ouroboros BOX Limited Edition?

A: The game + a Trails in the Sky memorial soundtrack + the DLC costume “Fluffy Monkey-Sheep Mascot Costume Set” + a Premium SteelBook case + the Japanese book “Liberl Kingdom Complete Character Book” (data on roughly 500 NPCs). The Japanese limited edition additionally bundles a Blu-ray of the OVA Trails in the Sky THE ANIMATION.

Saves and Carryover#

Q: Can I carry over save data from the previous game? What are the rewards?

A: Carrying over cleared data from Trails in the Sky the 1st grants bonus items (official wording: granted according to how you played, to make story progression easier), plus the linked costume “Classic Style SC [Estelle] [Joshua]”. No exact stat rewards have been published — if you see specific figures like “carry over 50% of levels”, ignore them outright.

Q: Do demo saves carry into the full game?

A: Yes. The demo (live August 20, 2026) covers the prologue through Chapter 1, offers 10+ hours of pure play, includes the fishing and casino minigames, and its saves carry into the full game.

Q: What carries into a second playthrough? How do you trigger the true ending?

A: We found no verifiable information this time on either the New Game+ carryover list or the true ending conditions — defer to the game itself. We won’t speculate.

Gameplay Systems#

Q: What’s the combat system like?

A: The framework of seamless switching between Quick Battle and Command Battle returns, and this game adds the linked attack “Brave Rush”, the Enforcer Boost system, and new Crafts, S-Crafts, and more orbment Arts. Details in the combat system deep dive.

Q: Which characters are playable? Can Renne join?

A: Falcom’s official site lists 8 Party Members: Estelle, Joshua, Scherazard, Olivier, Kloe, Agate, Tita, and Zin. Renne and Kevin are listed under Other Characters on the site, and their playability depends on the game itself; Leonhardt is a story boss/rival, and no source supports him being playable. See the full character guide.

Q: How many trophies are there?

A: The PS5 version has 49 (1 platinum, 3 gold, 7 silver, 38 bronze), 13 of them hidden. Confirmed trophies include Hell’s Crown for clearing the game on Nightmare and King of the Battlefield for defeating 1,500+ enemies — see difficulty, trophies, and achievements.

Q: How long is the main story?

A: IGN cites HowLongToBeat data putting the main story at roughly 59 hours.

Tech and Specs#

Q: What languages do voice and subtitles support?

A: Voice is Japanese (the Steam version also includes English voice); subtitles come in Simplified Chinese / Traditional Chinese / Korean, with the Steam version additionally offering Japanese/English/French/German/Spanish.

Q: Are the PC requirements demanding?

A: Official minimum specs are Windows 10/11, AMD Ryzen 5 1600, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050, DirectX 11, targeting 1080p/60FPS (Performance tier). Recommended specs haven’t been published — defer to the Steam store page.

Q: How have critics scored it?

A: On Metacritic, the PS5 version sits at 90 (22 outlets), PC at 92 (17), and Switch 2 at 88 (7); the user score is 8.8 (238 ratings). TheGamer called it “the highest-rated game of 2026 so far”.
