Boss Guide Part Three - Hollow Halls and Albaneve Summits#

Enshrouded boss guide part three: Hollow Halls and Albaneve Summits

This is the closing entry of the Enshrouded boss guide. Community sources (PinDrop figures) record 11 bosses in the full game; the Springlands-to-Kindlewastes entries were covered in the first two parts, and this part handles the last stretch of the progression chain: the Hollow Cyclops of the Hollow Halls dungeon, the Cyclops family of the Albaneve Summits, and the Fell Dragon Youngling at Howling Peak, the highest point of Embervale. These four fights line up with the sprint phase of the Flame Altar upgrade chain - the Fell Cyclops head leads to the sixth Flame level, and the dragon head is the upgrade material for the eighth and final Flame level. Clear this part and the Flame Altar progression is maxed out.

Boss Overview for This Part#

Boss Location Role and Background
Hollow Cyclops Final floor of the Hollow Halls dungeon The guardian of the dungeon’s deepest level, a product of the curse left over from King Gormander’s era
Cyclops (regular strain) Five cave lairs in the Albaneve Summits Lair-dwelling powerhouse of the high mountain region, weak to fire and shroud
Fell Cyclops Beside the frozen Elixir Well in the Albaneve Summits Fell faction variant, weak to fire and shroud, resistant to ice and blunt damage; its head is the material for the sixth Flame Altar upgrade
Fell Dragon Youngling Howling Peak, the highest point of Embervale Target of the main quest ‘Slaying The Corrupted Beast’; its head is the material for the eighth (final) Flame Altar upgrade

Three of the four entries sit in the Albaneve Summits, and together with the Hollow Halls dungeon they form the two endgame routes of the game’s second half. Below we break them down one by one in recommended challenge order.

Hollow Cyclops: The Sediment of a King’s Curse#

Location and Background#

The Hollow Cyclops guards the deepest floor of the Hollow Halls dungeon. This dungeon is one of the most important pieces of background lore in the game’s world: a curse from King Gormander’s era drove a group of residents into the dungeon, where they eventually degenerated into Hollow-like beings, and the one standing at the very bottom is a Cyclops fully consumed by that curse. In other words, taking it down is not just farming a head for progression - it is turning the heaviest page of Embervale’s fall with your own hands.

The dungeon is a deep-delve instance, and the run from the entrance to the final floor is a war of attrition in itself. Before entering, check every item on this preparation list:

Check Criteria
Fast travel points Confirm the nearest Flame Altar or Ancient Spire so a defeat does not mean re-running the whole route
Shroud allowance If the deeper floors fall inside the Shroud, watch the Shroud activity countdown and do not let timer damage push you back at the final door
Food buffs Keep at least 3 different food buffs active before entering the final floor - both healing and buffs are required
Skill points Respec is available at the Flame Altar; max out your build’s core skills before entering the dungeon

An Honest Note on Resistances and Strategy#

As of this writing, the Hollow Cyclops’ specific weaknesses and resistance data are not documented in community sources, and this guide does not invent numbers - they will be verified and filled in against the actual 1.0 patch notes after the full release. In practice, follow this rule: open with your usual high-damage tools, watch the color and feedback of the damage numbers, then decide whether to switch to fire or lightning weapons and spells.

Another variable to keep in mind is the 1.0 release: every hostile faction has gained new variants, some of them heavy or elite tier. The Hollow faction is very likely among them; when re-running the dungeon, if you meet a Hollow enemy with clearly abnormal size or health, keep your distance and confirm its behavior pattern before engaging.

Albaneve Summits: The Cyclops Lair Map#

The Albaneve Summits is Embervale’s high mountain region, home at the same time to five Cyclops lairs, a frozen Elixir Well, and Howling Peak, the highest point on the continent. For the Cyclops entry, the five lair reference points recorded by community sources (PinDrop figures) are:

Lair reference point Notes
Around Everfrore Keep The caves around the keep are one reference point for lair distribution
Around Howling Peak Clear the lairs on the way up to the dragon - one mountain route, two rewards
Around Wildwater Basin When searching the caves around the basin, watch for patrolling packs at lair entrances
Around Lake Luma The caves around the lake are the reference area for the fifth lair

The five lairs are scattered in caves around the four areas above; exact cave entrances should be confirmed through in-game exploration. Clearing lairs yields more than character growth: boss-tier targets drop essence fragments, boss cores with legendary runes, and affix materials, and boss cores feed both Flame level upgrades and rune crafting.

Regular Strain Weaknesses and Loadouts#

The regular Cyclops is weak to fire and shroud damage - a weakness that fits the Summits’ overall environment design, since fire tools have clear room to pay off here. The 1.0 loadout options are:

Build How to exploit the weakness
Mage Pillar of Flames handles area damage over time, with the Fire Totem as a placed turret for extra damage (both are new 1.0 spells)
Archer Eternal Fire arrows can be upgraded and rolled for affixes - raise them into a dedicated weakness-breaking ammo line (new 1.0 ammo line)

Melee builds have no verified fire-imbue option on record; the sensible approach is high-damage melee weapons supplemented by a teammate’s fire spells to cover the weakness damage, subject to the actual 1.0 patch.

Regular Strain vs Fell Strain: The Resistance Comparison#

The Fell Cyclops is the Fell faction variant of the regular strain, holed up beside the frozen Elixir Well in the Summits. The resistance difference between the two strains is this part’s easiest trap; the comparison is as follows:

Item Cyclops (regular strain) Fell Cyclops
Lair location Five cave lairs in the Albaneve Summits Beside the frozen Elixir Well in the Summits
Weakness Fire, shroud Fire, shroud
Resistance No clear record Ice, blunt damage
Head use No clear record Material for the sixth Flame Altar upgrade

The differences lead to three tactical conclusions:

  1. Ice tools are nullified against the Fell strain: the mage’s Blizzard, Ice Totem and ice arrows have near-zero value against the Fell Cyclops - swap them out of your main rotation before the fight and switch to fire and shroud lines.
  2. Blunt weapons need to be stowed too: the regular strain has no recorded blunt resistance, but the Fell strain resists it - players who like to hammer away with mace-type weapons must switch weapons for this fight, or a big chunk of their damage will be eaten by resistance.
  3. Fire and shroud are the universal answer for both strains: whether regular or Fell, fire and shroud are on the weakness list, so build your team’s damage core around these two elements - no need to prepare two separate loadouts for two entries.

One more reminder on the head mechanic: heads drop with a chance after a boss kill, not guaranteed; if the head does not drop, refight the boss - bosses respawn on server restart or world reload. The Fell Cyclops head corresponds to the sixth Flame Altar upgrade; if you are stuck on a Flame level, farm this chain directly.

The Fell Dragon Youngling: Full Move Breakdown at Howling Peak#

Combat Role#

The Fell Dragon Youngling nests at Howling Peak - the highest point of Embervale. This fight is set up by the main quest ‘Slaying The Corrupted Beast’ and is the last fight in the game’s boss progression chain; its head is used for the eighth and final Flame Altar upgrade. Put it down and the Flame upgrade chain comes to an end.

Four Move Types and How to Answer Them#

Move Behavior How to react
Meteor shower Rains meteors over the entire battle platform Meteors can be deflected back at the boss - a successful deflection both dodges damage and accelerates the stun bar, making it the core two-way interaction of the fight
Sweeping shroud breath Rears its head back, then exhales a sweeping cone of shroud breath The rearing wind-up is your telegraph - sprint to the opposite side of the platform immediately, the breath cannot sweep that position
Wing knockback Wing slaps create a wide-area knockback Keep mid-range damage output and be extra careful when standing near the arena edge - being shoved around costs a lot of damage time
Summoning adds Calls Fell Draconian Vultures into the fight Mages break up the adds with totem spells and summons; archers and melee keep the stun and damage rhythm on the boss itself

Ranked by threat among the four move types, the sweeping breath has the most obvious wind-up and is the most reliable damage window of the whole fight: dodge the breath, turn around, and land a full burst.

The Stun Bar: Your Ticket Into This Fight#

The core mechanic of this fight is the stun bar: while not stunned, it takes reduced damage - with the stun bar unfilled, your damage efficiency is pushed down hard by the mechanic. Three ways to build the stun bar:

  1. Stun arrows: the archer’s dedicated stun-building tool; fill the bar safely from range.
  2. Chain lightning spells: mages pump the stun bar with lightning spells while handling fire damage on the side.
  3. Deflected meteors: knock the meteor shower’s meteors back into the boss - a hit from a deflected meteor also accelerates the stun bar, effectively turning the boss’s own move into your charging tool.

Two Key 1.0 Changes#

The 1.0 release made real, tangible improvements to this fight: the dragon lands on the ground, so melee players can attack it directly without stunning it first - the early access gate of ‘fill the stun bar before melee gets a window’ is officially gone; the devs also fixed its full-heal and stuck-state bugs. In 1.0 the stun bar has gone from ’ticket’ to ‘accelerator’: you can grind it down without stunning, but stunning makes it much faster.

Post-Fight Rewards#

The rewards after killing the dragon, in priority order: the head is used for the eighth (final) Flame Altar upgrade, the last link in the game’s Flame upgrade chain; standard boss-tier drops include essence fragments, boss cores with legendary runes, and affix materials. No head? Refight the boss - bosses respawn on server restart or world reload, and once you know the Howling Peak climb by heart, re-running it is not costly.

Pre-Fight Checklist#

Item Criteria
Outpost altars Place outpost altars along the climbing route in the Summits so fast travel reaches the lairs and Howling Peak’s mid-slope, keeping commute time to a minimum
Food buffs Eat up at least 3 different food buffs before entering - long fights at altitude put real pressure on your recovery
Weapon check If the target is the Fell Cyclops, stow ice tools and blunt weapons and confirm your main damage is fire or shroud
Skill setup After the 1.0 full skill tree reset, put core damage and survival skills back before challenging (official wording: leaving base with no points spent ‘will be rough’); respec is available any time at the Flame Altar
Revival plan After a defeat, respawn at the nearest altar or spire and re-enter; confirm your fast travel chain in advance for both the dungeon and the Summits

Quick FAQ#

  • Why does the Fell Cyclops lose health so slowly? Check your weapon and spell elements first: ice and blunt tools are negated by its resistances; switching to fire or shroud damage shows results immediately.
  • Why won’t the dragon take damage after ages of fighting? On the early access version, check the stun bar first - unstunned, it takes reduced damage; after the 1.0 landing change, melee can hit directly. Confirm which version you are on before adjusting your approach.
  • What if the head does not drop? Heads are chance drops; just refight the boss. Bosses respawn on server restart or world reload.
  • What damage does the Hollow Cyclops take? Community sources have no clear record; this guide does not guess - wait for the actual 1.0 data.
  • Can the Summits targets be cleared in one route? Yes - the five Cyclops lairs, the frozen Elixir Well and Howling Peak are all in the Summits; string the lair reference points into one climbing route, clearing lairs on the way up before fighting the dragon at the summit.
  • What is left to fight after the dragon? This part closes out the 11-boss sequence; whether the new 1.0 biomes come with a new boss has not been announced by the devs - we will verify and fill it in after release.
