Dune: Awakening FAQ#
Platforms and Editions#
Which platforms is the game available on?#
PC (Steam) launched on June 10, 2025; PlayStation 5 / PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S launch on September 22, 2026, with a physical edition included.
Does the console version match the PC version?#
Yes. The console version bundles every update the PC version received over its first 15 months, plus the single-player mode and the Book One finale on launch day. It’s officially described as the most complete version of the game yet.
What graphics modes does the console version offer?#
Two modes are officially confirmed:
| Mode | Frame rate | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Performance (default) | 60fps | Dynamic 4K |
| Quality | 30fps | Dynamic 4K |
PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X run at higher native resolutions in both modes and add extra visual enhancements in Quality mode.
Game Pass and Platform Services#
Is the game on Game Pass?#
Yes. It joins Xbox Game Pass on the console launch date (2026-09-22) as a day one release, free for Ultimate members (console + cloud). Game Pass members also get 20% off the Deluxe and Ultimate editions.
Is Xbox Play Anywhere supported?#
Yes. The Xbox version and the Microsoft Store (Windows) version share progress and can be played interchangeably, with support for Xbox Cloud Gaming and ROG Xbox Ally. The Steam version and the Microsoft Store version are not interchangeable.
Is crossplay supported?#
At launch, no — PS5, Xbox, and Steam players can’t play together (only Xbox and Microsoft Store are connected, as part of Play Anywhere). Crossplay is confirmed for a later update, with no date announced yet.
Can I play on Steam Deck?#
Yes, the game is Steam Deck Verified, and GeForce Now is supported as well.
Buying and Pricing#
How much does each edition cost?#
| Edition | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $49.99 | Base game |
| Deluxe | $69.99 | Includes Lost Harvest and other DLC entitlements |
| Ultimate | $89.99 | Includes all DLC entitlements plus extras |
Console editions come with 5-day early access: Deluxe and Ultimate owners can start playing on 2026-09-17.
Are there launch event rewards?#
Log in and play any time from 2026-09-17 through 2026-10-22 to earn the Matron’s Decor reward; returning players who have been away for at least 28 days receive a welcome package scaled to their research progress.
What DLC is available?#
Paid: Lost Harvest (2025-09-10), Raiders of the Broken Lands (2026-02-03), The Water Wars (2026-05-19), Filmic Archive (2026-09-22, $9.99). Free: Gift of the Sands (2025-12-16) and the Polar Cap ice-sheet map (due sometime in 2026).
Gameplay Questions#
Is PvP mandatory?#
No. PvP is entirely optional: the Deep Desert has PvE instances (southern half), you can take part in the Landsraad on a pure PvE basis, and you can finish the whole game without fighting another player even once.
Can it be played fully solo?#
Yes. The 1.5 update on 2026-09-22 added a full single-player mode to every platform (PC included): no other players, adjustable difficulty depth, and a Deep Desert map that never resets. See our single-player walkthrough for details.
Do bases still get taxed?#
No longer. At launch, an advanced fief did owe taxes to the Emperor (falling behind meant losing your shield protection), but update 1.5 officially removed taxation. Ignore any older guide that still says bases must pay taxes.
What if I picked the wrong school?#
A school is only a starting point. The trainer system lets you learn other schools’ skill trees, and skills can be respecced and rebuilt — there is no irreversible choice here.
How harsh is the death penalty?#
The 1.x updates have reduced death penalties, and both vehicles and bases have recovery/save tools. Items and vehicles swallowed by a sandworm are gone for good — that’s one of the few hard losses you need to actively avoid.
Lore Questions#
Can I play without having watched Dune?#
Absolutely. The game comes with its own tutorial and story setup; having read the novels or seen the films adds extra Easter-egg fun (the alternate-timeline design means the story itself is a “new tale”).
When does Dune: Part Three come out?#
December 18, 2026. It’s officially confirmed that in-game movie tie-in cosmetics will arrive around the film’s release.
About the Information Here#
How the numbers on this site are sourced#
This section is compiled from official announcements, press releases, and Steam store pages covering the game as of the 1.5 version in September 2026. A few community-measured figures (such as roughly 2500 Solari per paid hub trip, and extension posts capped at about 5 in each direction) are flagged as community data and may change with patches. Game mechanics shift with updates, so treat what’s actually in the game as the final word.
