Balatro Endgame Guide#
Beating Ante 8 is only the beginning — Endless Mode, Gold Stake, and Challenge mode are where Balatro’s depth lives
What Awaits After the Win#
| Content | Details |
|---|---|
| Endless Mode | Continue playing past the Ante 8 Boss — score requirements grow super-exponentially |
| Stakes | An 8-tier difficulty ladder per deck, unlocked tier by tier |
| Challenge mode | Unlocks after winning runs with 5 different decks — 20 fixed-rule special runs |
The Stakes System (Official 8 Tiers)#
Each tier stacks all previous modifiers, and each deck’s Stake progress is independent:
| Stake | Official effect |
|---|---|
| White | Base difficulty |
| Red | Small Blinds give no reward money |
| Green | Blind score requirements scale faster |
| Black | Jokers can carry the “Eternal” sticker (cannot be sold) |
| Blue | -1 discard per round |
| Purple | Score requirements scale even faster |
| Orange | Jokers can carry the “Perishable” sticker (debuffed after 5 rounds) |
| Gold | Highest difficulty — Jokers can carry the “Rental” sticker ($1 to buy, $3 per round), all modifiers stacked |
Score requirements rise with Stakes: from Green Stake on, the Ante 8 requirement climbs from 50,000 to 100,000, and to 200,000 on Purple and above
Endless Mode Score Curve (Official Data)#
| Ante | Required score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | 110,000 | Endless starting point |
| 10 | 560,000 | |
| 11 | 7,200,000 | |
| 12 | 300,000,000 | The first watershed |
| 13 | ~4.7e10 | |
| 14 | ~2.9e13 | |
| 16 | ~8.6e20 | Showdown Blinds |
| 24 | ~1.6e77 | |
| 32 | ~2.7e179 | |
| 39 | ~4.8e309 → naneinf | Double-precision float overflow — the theoretical highest Ante |
Ante 39’s requirement exceeds the float cap and displays as naneinf — hit naneinf at Ante 39 and Endless is considered cleared
Endgame Build 1: Baron + Steel (The Endless Favorite)#
| Component | Role |
|---|---|
| Baron | Each King held in hand gives ×1.5 Mult |
| Steel Cards | Each Steel card held in hand gives ×1.5 Mult |
| Red Seal | Double-triggers Steel cards/Kings — the fuel of the Baron build |
| Blueprint/Brainstorm | Copy Baron’s effect |
| DNA | After each played hand, if it contains a single card, copy it to your hand — stockpile Kings |
| The Chariot/Deja Vu | Mass-produce Steel cards and Red Seals |
Play pattern: play exactly one High Card per round — keep every Steel King held in hand. Score scales exponentially with the Steel card count
Endgame Build 2: Bloodstone Flush Burst#
| Component | Role |
|---|---|
| Bloodstone | Heart cards have a 1 in 3 chance of ×2 Mult when scored |
| Oops! All 6s | Doubles all listed probabilities (1 in 3 → 2 in 3) |
| Four Fingers/Smeared | Eases Flush assembly |
| Red Seal + retriggers | Fire Bloodstone multiple times |
Trait: a single play can burst to the tune of ×2 raised ten times over — but it rides RNG and is less stable than the Baron build
Challenge Mode#
Unlocks after winning runs with 5 different decks. Twenty fixed-rule runs, playable only on White Stake, with no achievements inside challenges. Completing a challenge unlocks its Challenge Deck and deck skin
Priority targets:
- Jokerless: no Joker slots at all — hand levels, enhancements, and consumables do all the scoring
- Fragile: an all-Glass setup — strike fast before the shatters pile up
- Golden Needle: only one play per round — resource management is everything
- 15 Minute City: re-plan your hand distribution under the Ride the Bus + Shortcut rules
Score Milestones#
| Target | Recommended route |
|---|---|
| 100,000 points | Any developed build — a normal clear gets you there |
| 1,000,000 points | Main hand at level 10 + one ×Mult |
| 100,000,000 points | Baron or Bloodstone build to start |
| 1 trillion points | A full Baron-Steel copy chain |
| naneinf | Baron build pushed to Ante 39 — the endpoint of community runs |
Endgame FAQ#
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Suddenly can’t clear Ante 12? | Scores grow super-exponentially — you need two or more ×Mult sources; +Mult is obsolete by then |
| What does the Baron build fear? | Play-limit Bosses hurt least — it plays a single card; watch hand-type bans like The Eye |
| Is there a score cap? | Display caps at about 1.8e308 (double-precision float) — beyond that, naneinf |
| Should I skip Blinds in Endless? | Not recommended — each round’s shop and Steel card accumulation matter more |
