Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok Guide#
Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok is a Norse mythology-themed Roguelite survivors game: you fight to stay alive against tides of swarming monsters, unlocking weapons and skills as you fight, and grow each run into a complete build. Every page in this section is based on official information verified as of October 2026; anything outside that verified scope is marked “not covered” rather than filled in from memory.

Complete Edition Release Table#
| Platform | Region | Release date |
|---|---|---|
| Switch, PS5 | Worldwide | 2025-10-25 |
| Switch | Asia | 2025-12-19 |
| Switch | North America | 2025-12-19 |

Different channels record the launch regions slightly differently; the table above preserves every entry the verified sources give, and the store page for each platform is the authority when you actually buy. The complete edition also has a physical version (published by Numskull 360°) that comes with a printed game manual in the box.
The Five Game Modes#
The complete edition ships with five modes; their names are fixed officially, and we do not rename them:
| Mode | English name | Positioning |
|---|---|---|
| Adventure | Adventure | The standard progression mode |
| Ragnarok | Ragnarok | Named after the mythological final battle |
| Daily Challenge | Daily Challenge | A challenge mode that refreshes daily |
| Custom | Custom | Adjust the rules yourself |
| Nightmare | Nightmare | A high-intensity challenge mode |
The stage lengths, wave structures, and specific rule parameters inside each mode have not been published one by one in officially verifiable material, so we will not fill in a table from memory — trust the in-mode descriptions once you are in the game.
Progression Systems at a Glance#
Long-term progression in this game has three layers, all built around the survivors:
| System | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Constellations | Raise each survivor’s stats | A stat growth tree lit up character by character |
| Yggdrasil | The global progress tree | The core of meta progression, reinforcing every function |
| Character Masteries | Character investment cap | Take your favorite survivor all the way to max level |
Beyond those, there are two collection tracks: the 150+ relics can be strengthened further through Ascension, and the 10+ survivors have alternate skins, with a number of hidden secrets tucked into the game as well.
Inside a Run#
A single run asks you to handle three kinds of things at once:
- The swarming hordes — the game’s baseline source of pressure; kiting and positioning are the first lesson in survival.
- Elites and bosses — each follows its own independent behavior logic, and you cannot brute-force them the way you clear trash mobs.
- Reward Shrines — scattered across every realm; pick up quests or challenges while running the map and trade them for extra rewards.

Platforms and System Requirements#
The game runs on PC, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck, with Twitch integration. The Windows specifications published on the Steam store page:
| Item | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 7 | Windows 10 |
| CPU | AMD FX-6300 or an Intel 3rd/4th gen i3 | i5-6600 |
| Memory | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| GPU | GTX 660 Ti or HD 7870 | GTX 970 |
| Storage | 530 MB | Not listed separately; budget for the minimum |
Two notes: first, since January 1, 2024 the Steam client only supports Windows 10 and above, so machines still on Windows 7 can no longer install the current Steam client; second, a 530 MB footprint is extremely light by today’s standards, and both old laptops and the Steam Deck sit comfortably inside officially supported territory.
DLC Data#
| DLC | Release date | Verified contents |
|---|---|---|
| Tower-challenge DLC (official English name not verified) | 2024-04-30 | Face a series of challenges in each room and pick your route through doors offering different rewards to refine your build; the farther you go, the more the path corrupts |
| Twilight of Yggdrasil | 2025-05-11 | Set after conquering the Nine Realms: three brand-new realms open, an epic character joins, 3 new survivor skins are added, plus more relics and a brand-new soundtrack |
The two DLCs’ exact prices, stage details, and full lists of added content were not itemized in the verified sources — check the Steam store page before purchasing.
FAQ#
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Is this a “Vampire Survivors-like” game? | Yes. It belongs to the survivors-like genre: positioning dodges, auto-attacks, and in-run builds — not a bullet-hell roguelite shooter |
| How long does one run take? | Officially verified materials do not publish per-mode durations; go by the actual run |
| Does death lose progress? | This is a Roguelite: the Constellations, Yggdrasil, and Character Masteries form the long-term meta progression; exact retention rules are as the in-game systems define them |
| Are there Chinese subtitles? | Language support was outside the scope of this verification; check the language tab on the Steam store page before buying |
| What about controller support? | This verification only confirmed the PC, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck platforms plus Twitch integration; controller details are per the store page |
