Balatro Achievements Guide#
Balatro has 31 achievements (32 on PlayStation, which adds the Platinum trophy). Achievements come with no in-game rewards — they are purely a record of honor. Note that achievements often only pop after you finish or win a new run; meeting the condition does not always unlock them on the spot
Key Mechanics#
| Mechanic | Details |
|---|---|
| Any difficulty/deck | Unless stated otherwise, achievements unlock on any stake difficulty and with any deck |
| Challenge mode excluded | Runs on Challenge decks do not count toward achievements — the exceptions are Rule Bender and Rule Breaker themselves |
| Shared unlocks | Many achievements share their conditions with Joker/deck unlocks — grinding achievements also fills out your collection |
| Delayed popups | Achievements are often only settled after you win the run, so do not rush to close the game |

Key Achievement Strategies#
Speedrunner: Clear a Run in 12 Rounds#
A standard 8-Ante run has at least 24 Blinds — finishing in 12 rounds is simply impossible without skipping Blinds. The right play is skipping Blinds for Tags: skip at least 12 Blinds across the run. Pick routes with high-value Tags such as Charm Tag and the economy Tags, and once your Jokers come online, skip the Big Blinds and leave the Bosses to beat head-on
ROI: Buy 5 Vouchers Before Ante 4#
Vouchers cost $10 each — scraping together $50 for 5 vouchers before Ante 4 demands a very aggressive economy strategy. Two shortcuts: take Hieroglyph (at -1 Ante the voucher counts toward the total and also shortens the schedule), or use Coupon Tags from skipped Blinds to grab vouchers for free. Note that the three vouchers the Zodiac Deck starts with do not count — they must be purchased from the shop
Flushed: A Flush of 5 Wild Cards#
Mass-produce Wild Cards with The Lovers tarot — stock up on 5 selected cards and convert them one at a time with The Lovers. Trivia: with Four Fingers, 4 Wild Cards can also get it done; Flush House and Flush Five, however, do not count
Tiny Hands / Big Hands: Both Extremes of Deck Size#
For Tiny Hands, destroy cards with Death/Trance tarots and use Charm Tags to multiply the destruction chances — clearing the run at 20 cards or fewer is still the hurdle, and compressing to 22 and winning from there is enough. Big Hands is the reverse — buy cards nonstop and lean on copy-style cards to duplicate them; 80 cards is a burden on play itself, so farm it on a low stake
You Get What You Get: Never Reroll the Shop#
Shop rerolls are the main tool for hunting core pieces — with them disabled, every shop page has to be made do with as-is. A Checkered Deck with a Flush build is recommended (it leans least on random offers), and the Hone voucher, which raises the appearance rate of edition cards, also helps
The Collection Chain: Astronomy → Cartomancy → Clairvoyance → Extreme Couponer → Completionist#
The five collection achievements build on one another — full collection progress rides on the “discovery” mechanic: a card only counts as discovered once you have seen it. Open lots of packs, buy lots of shop cards, and use Observatory and Crystal Ball to raise the variety of pack contents. Legendary Jokers can only come from the Spectral card The Soul — Legendary is the luck-based bottleneck of the full-collection road
Completionist+ and Completionist++: The Endgame Twin Towers#
Completionist+ requires taking all 15 decks through Gold Stake one by one — each deck is its own separate 8-tier progression line: a heavy workload but a clear path. Completionist++ goes further: all 150 Jokers must each win a Gold Stake run — batch them with a “low-value Jokers first, core Jokers riding along” plan. Known bug: the run in which you grab the final Gold sticker will not pop the achievement — win any other run afterward to trigger it
FAQ#
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How many achievements are there? | 31; PlayStation also has the Platinum trophy, for 32 in total |
| Can achievements be earned in Challenge mode? | No — except for the two challenge-exclusive achievements, Rule Bender/Rule Breaker |
| Do progression achievements accumulate across runs? | Card Player and Card Discarder do (across all runs); score and economy achievements only look at a single run |
| When does Nest Egg’s $400 need to be held? | At any moment — once you have it, it is locked in; spending it later changes nothing |
| Does High Stakes have to be Gold Stake? | Yes — the run must be cleared on Gold Stake; Red through Orange do not count |
| How do you run into Legendary Jokers? | Only the Spectral card The Soul generates Legendary Jokers — Spectral Packs plus Crystal Ball improve the odds |
| What if an achievement never pops? | Common when the condition is met mid-run — it is granted once you win the run or start a new one |
