Weapon Compendium#

Weapons are the core of any Vampire Survivors build. This page covers only verified mechanics and pairings — per-weapon base damage, attack intervals, and other exact figures are not shown as a panel in-game, so this site lists no numbers; judge weapons by how fast they actually clear your run.

Weapon System Rules#

Rule Content
Slot cap Up to 6 weapons
Level cap Level 8 per weapon
Evolution requirement Weapon at 8 + holding the paired passive + opening a chest
Super weapon slots Evolved super weapons occupy no extra slot
Unlocking New weapons appear as level-up options; advanced weapons must be unlocked with gold

First, the totals, so old guides do not mislead you:

Figure Number
Exact base-game weapon total No single authoritative number found
Moonspell additions 13
Tides of the Foscari additions 13
Emergency Meeting additions 15
Operation Guns additions 22
Ode to Castlevania additions 126
Legacy of the Bloodmoon additions 16+

Older guides claiming “over 30 base and evolved weapons” are badly out of date — the Castlevania DLC alone carries 126.

The Verified Evolution Pairing Table#

All 14 pairings below are verified (per androidpolice.com and bluestacks.com) and form the backbone of the base-game evolution system:

Base weapon Required passive Evolved super weapon
Whip Hollow Heart Bloody Tear
Magic Wand Empty Tome Holy Wand
Knife Bracer Thousand Edge
Axe Candelabrador Death Spiral
Santa Water Attractorb La Borra
King Bible Spellbinder Unholy Vespers
Cross Clover Heaven Sword
Fire Wand Spinach Hellfire
Lightning Ring Duplicator Thunder Loop
Garlic Pummarola Soul Eater
Runetracer Armor NO FUTURE
Pentagram Crown Gorgeous Moon
Clock Lancet Silver Ring / Gold Ring Infinite Corridor
Laurel Metaglio Left / Metaglio Right Crimson Shroud

Old-Guide Errors You Must Unlearn#

  • “King Bible + Armor = Unholy Vespers” is wrong — the correct partner is Spellbinder; Armor pairs with Runetracer → NO FUTURE.
  • Runetracer’s super weapon is named NO FUTURE; older guides calling it “endless rune” are wrong.

Dual-Component Weapons#

The last two rows are special dual-component evolutions: Clock Lancet requires both the Silver Ring and the Gold Ring; Laurel requires Metaglio Left and Metaglio Right. The two routes produce Infinite Corridor and Crimson Shroud — the core combination against the 30:00 Death: the former’s percentage damage plus the latter’s protection form the baseline of the Death fight.

Mask of the Red Death (the hidden character unlocked by defeating Death) starts with the super weapon Death Spiral (the Axe + Candelabrador evolution); its stats are 255 HP, +100% move speed, +20% might.

Evolution in Practice#

Turn the pairing table into executable steps:

  1. Pick your target pairing at spawn: if this run is for Bloody Tear, build around Whip + Hollow Heart.
  2. Push the weapon to level 8: prioritize the target weapon and its passive in level-up choices.
  3. Confirm the passive is in hand: passives cap at level 5 and take one passive slot; dual-component weapons require both pieces.
  4. Open the chest to evolve: with the first two conditions met, open the corresponding chest to receive the super weapon.
  5. Fill remaining slots with secondary weapons: six slots need not be full — concentrating on two or three evolution lines comes together far more reliably than six parallel bets.

Exact super-weapon effects defer to the in-game descriptions; version-to-version differences defer to the game as well.

Advanced Weapons and the Gold Unlock#

Weapon acquisition runs on two tracks:

  • Level-up options: appear randomly during runs; picking one adds it to your collection.
  • Gold unlocks: advanced weapons must be unlocked with gold before they enter the level-up pool — with insufficient gold, some weapons simply never appear in your level-up list.

This gives gold a second spending lane: “buy weapons to widen the pool”. Before hoping a weapon appears in your level-up options, check whether it is already unlocked in your collection. Gold spending priorities (PowerUps, characters, weapons) are covered on the Unlocks and PowerUps pages.

Weapon Trade-offs in a Build#

These trade-offs are based on the verified system rules, for run-planning reference:

  1. Two or three weapons evolved beats six spread flat: evolution’s three conditions (level 8, the paired passive, the chest) all demand concentrated resources.
  2. Open around a verified pairing: the 14 pairings above cover the base game’s main weapon types — picking one that matches your character’s starting weapon saves many level-up decisions.
  3. Passive slots follow the pairing: evolution components outrank generic stat boosts — see the pairing cheat sheet on the Items page.
  4. Prepare for the Death fight separately: Infinite Corridor and Crimson Shroud are the core answer to the 30:00 Death, and the two dual-component routes must be planned into your 6 passive slots at stage-select time.

FAQ#

Why doesn’t a weapon show up in my level-up options?#

Two possibilities: it belongs to a DLC you have not purchased; or it is an advanced weapon not yet unlocked with gold. Advanced weapons enter the level-up pool only after unlocking.

Where is the per-weapon damage panel?#

There is no per-weapon damage panel in-game — which is exactly why this page lists no numbers. Compare weapons by their actual clear speed and coverage in your run, not by numbers from external tier lists.

How many weapons does the base game really have?#

No verifiable single authoritative total exists, and this site will not guess. What is verifiable: the DLC additions of 13 / 13 / 15 / 22 / 126 / 16+, meaning the full game far exceeds the 30 claimed by older guides. The complete list lives in the in-game collection menu.

My target super weapon never comes out of chests#

Chest evolutions check “level 8 + the correct passive”. First verify the pairing (the most common mistake is holding Armor for Unholy Vespers — the correct component is Spellbinder), then confirm the weapon actually reached level 8.

About the Data on This Page#

  • The 14 evolution pairings come from androidpolice.com and bluestacks.com verification.
  • DLC weapon counts and lists come from the vampire.survivors.wiki DLC pages, androidpolice.com, and escapistmagazine.com.
  • The advanced-weapon gold unlock mechanic follows rogueranker.com.
  • Per-weapon damage numbers are not collected (the game has no panel); unverified pairings are not listed. The in-game collection menu is authoritative, and this site does not speculate.
