Build Guide#

This guide breaks down the four mainstream builds in Stellar Blade — their pairing logic and field techniques — so you can pick the optimal setup for each combat scenario.

Build Profile Rating Best for
All-Rounder Balanced output and survival ★★☆☆☆ Story exploration
Burst Extreme instant damage ★★★★☆ Timed challenges
Tank Maximum mitigation and aggro control ★☆☆☆☆ Team dungeons
Dodge High-speed mobility and counters ★★★★★ No-hit challenges

I. The All-Rounder Build#

Suited to most combat scenarios, balancing damage, survival, and mobility — the most recommended general config for beginners and veterans alike.

Damage Loop#

  1. Gap close — dash attack → close the distance
  2. Core — horizontal slash ×3 → main damage
  3. Finisher — charged slash → stagger into execution
  4. Loop — light attacks to fill → wait for cooldowns
  5. Emergency — tactical retreat → disengage

Strengths and Weaknesses#

II. The Burst Build#

Designed for short-window burst damage; excels in boss fights and timed challenges. High risk, high reward.

Damage Loop#

  1. Mark — Death Mark → apply the damage-amplifying debuff
  2. Stance — Berserker stance → all buffs on
  3. Core — Shadow Assault → massive backstab damage
  4. Chase — horizontal slash ×2 → fill the crit chain
  5. Finisher — Blade of Ending → execute at low HP
  6. Reset — kills trigger Bloodlust
  7. Cooldown — wait for the next skill window or repeat

Strengths and Weaknesses#

III. The Tank Build#

Built around absorbing damage and holding aggro — the team’s rock. Essential for difficult expeditions and team dungeons.

Damage Loop#

  1. Pull — taunting roar → establish initial aggro
  2. Stance — Iron Wall stance → enter the defensive state
  3. Parry — read enemy patterns → precise parries
  4. Counter — Revenge counter → strike immediately after a parry
  5. Maintain — light attacks + skills loop → hold aggro

Strengths and Weaknesses#

IV. The Dodge Build#

Centered on high-speed dodging and counters, chasing flawless fights. Ceiling is enormous, but there is zero margin for error.

Damage Loop#

  1. Bait — hold mid-range → lure the attack out
  2. Dodge — perfect dodge → triggers the afterimage step
  3. Counter — Wind Slash → guaranteed crit pursuit
  4. Stack — chained perfect dodges → stack combat rhythm
  5. Burst — release the finisher at 5 stacks
  6. Reset — Mirror Afterimage → disengage and reset the board

VI. Which Build Should You Choose?#

VII. Exospine Selection Deep Dive#

Exospines are the skeleton of every build — the same spine’s value swings wildly by stage. Choose the right spine and the build is half done.

Early-Game Exospines#

Exospine Effect Fits Where to find
Life Exospine Raises max HP; potions restore more All builds Hidden cave in the Wasteland
Defense Exospine Raises defense; incoming damage reduced Tank Eidos 7 side quest
Speed Exospine Raises attack speed; longer dodge distance Dodge Wasteland story

Early damage gaps are small — secure survival first. Life and Defense Exospines massively lower the new-run failure rate; keep one equipped into the mid-game before considering swaps.

Mid-Game Exospines#

Exospine Effect Fits Where to find
Beta Exospine Boosts Beta energy gain; reduces burst gain Beta skill builds Hidden wall in the Great Desert
Burst Exospine Boosts burst energy gain; reduces Beta gain Burst skill builds Eidos 9
Power Exospine Raises attack; lowers defense Burst build Great Desert story

Skill points grow abundant mid-game — now is the time to choose Beta or Burst routing. Pick one; dual-wielding both doesn’t work — each drags the other’s energy gain down until neither shines.

Endgame Exospines#

Exospine Effect Fits Where to find
Assault Exospine Big attack boost, defense lowered Extreme damage Hidden chest in the Wasteland story
Drone Exospine Boosts drone damage Ranged builds Trade in collected cans
Speed Exospine Raises movement speed; extends the perfect-dodge window Advanced players Eidos 7 side quest

Late game, stats are plentiful and the spine depends on the scenario: bring a defensive spine into boss challenges; prioritize offensive ones for daily speed-farming.

VIII. Advanced Builds for All Four Archetypes#

On top of the base templates, combining Exospines, body cores, and skill points pushes every archetype far beyond its stock template.

All-Rounder Advanced#

  • Exospine: Life Exospine for the transition; swap to Assault for damage late
  • Drone: level regular and charged shots first, covering both ranges
  • Body cores: HP cores first, then Beta cores
  • Skill focus: parry mastery, combo extension, counter pursuit, Beta Impact

The All-Rounder’s core idea is “no obvious weakness.” Probe with parries to read the enemy, then go on offense. Keep the rhythm of one combo, then back to defense, and most enemies fall.

Burst Advanced#

  • Exospine: Power or Assault Exospine for extreme damage
  • Drone: level missile fire to cover the melee downtime
  • Body cores: weapon cores first, then burst cores
  • Skill focus: burst charge, strong burst, finishing burst, crit mastery

Burst’s essence is “one hit, one kill.” Don’t flail constantly — wait for a stagger from a perfect parry or dodge, then dump your stored burst energy in one go. Peak damage per unit time; perfect for speed goals in boss challenges.

Tank Advanced#

  • Exospine: Defense first, Life as the alternative
  • Drone: shield generation and healing pulse first
  • Body cores: max every HP core
  • Skill focus: parry mastery, shield burst, vitality, healing pulse

The Tank is survival taken to extremes. With shield-generation skills, effective HP doubles. Note that the Tank lacks burst tools and plays slow — hold aggro in team dungeons and leave the damage to teammates.

Dodge Advanced#

  • Exospine: Speed Exospine for the extended perfect-dodge window
  • Drone: charged shots first, to chip from afar
  • Body cores: Beta cores first, feeding energy back through dodges
  • Skill focus: dodge mastery, dodge counter, Beta charge, Sky Splitter

The Dodge build’s ceiling depends on how well you know enemy animations. Perfect dodges not only open counters but restore large amounts of Beta energy. Practice against elite enemies on normal difficulty until every move’s rhythm is memorized, then take it to higher difficulties.

IX. Skill Chain Breakdowns#

Good chaining packs multiple damage instances into a single stagger window — the dividing line of damage efficiency.

Guard-Break Opener#

Step Action Notes
1 Charged heavy attack Breaks guard, big stagger
2 Beta Impact Damage inside the stagger window
3 Combo extension Follow with a heavy finisher
4 Burst slash Wrap up before the stagger ends

After a Perfect Parry#

Step Action Notes
1 Perfect parry Triggers the riposte stagger
2 Counter pursuit Strike back immediately
3 Beta Impact Second hit of the chain
4 Timestall Extends the damage window

After a Perfect Dodge#

Step Action Notes
1 Perfect dodge Triggers the blink counter
2 Dodge counter Close distance fast
3 Whirlwind AOE pressure or single-target burst
4 Disengage Wait for the next opening

Aerial Chain#

Step Action Notes
1 Rising slash Launches the enemy
2 Air combo Three-hit chase
3 Air heavy Slam finisher
4 Beta Impact Keep pressing on landing

X. Boss-Specific Loadout Advice#

Bosses differ enormously in attack patterns — one build for everything is not cost-effective. Per-boss loadout thinking:

Brute#

A tutorial boss with wide, open attacks and forgiving parry timing. Run the All-Rounder and focus on perfect-parry rhythm. The Defense Exospine is enough; counter pursuit alone wins this comfortably.

Stalker#

Stalker blinks and clones, playing tricks on your eyes. Run the Dodge build — Speed Exospine plus dodge counters; perfect-dodge the blink stab and punish. During clone phases don’t chase damage — identify the real body first.

Abyss#

Abyss is huge with enormous sweeps, but slow, with big stagger windows. Run the Burst build — parry out a stagger, then dump burst energy in one go. Mind your footing during acid rain; move to safe zones promptly.

Raven#

A fast swordswoman with dense combos and frequent red rushes. Run the Dodge build with dodge mastery maxed. Phase 3’s full-court assault demands alternating perfect parries and dodges — a comprehensive execution exam.

Democrawler#

The final fight runs extremely long and demands sustained performance. Run the All-Rounder with the Life Exospine for insurance. Circle the arena during homing orbs, hide behind pillars for screen lasers, and use Timestall to create safe damage windows.

Ancient Guardian#

Single hits take half your HP. Run the Tank build — Defense plus Life Exospine as a double safeguard, with shield-generation skills. Don’t chase a fast kill; grind it down steadily.

Final tips

  • Level core passives first (crit mastery, iron will, combat rhythm, etc.) — they outvalue active skills by far
  • Gear upgrade priority: weapon > chest > necklace > gloves > boots > helmet > ring
  • Keep a second outfit ready for different scenarios — swapping is far cheaper than rebuilding
