Street Fighter 6 Guide#

Street Fighter 6 is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Capcom, built on the RE Engine. It launched worldwide on June 2, 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam). It later arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, shipping alongside the new console. The arcade version, Street Fighter 6 Type Arcade, is distributed by Taito and went live in Japan in December 2023.

Game Overview#

The whole battle system is built around a six-bar Drive Gauge: Drive Impact, Drive Parry, Drive Rush, Drive Reversal and Overdrive Arts all draw from the same resource, so every offensive and defensive decision is a question of how to spend that gauge. Content is split across three modes: Fighting Ground carries the core versus play, World Tour is a single-player RPG led by a custom avatar, and Battle Hub is the online social lobby. Three control schemes are offered — Classic, Modern and Dynamic — and in Modern, specials and Super Arts executed through one-button inputs deal 20% reduced damage, lowering the entry barrier for newcomers.

Getting Started#

If this is your first Street Fighter, work through it in the order “controls — mechanics — solo — versus”. Start with Modern controls to get comfortable with movement, blocking and throws. Move on to Drive Gauge fundamentals and learn what each of the five Drive actions costs and how the gauge recovers. On the solo side, begin with the tutorial chapters of World Tour, then shift into Fighting Ground’s Training Mode to grind combos once the systems click. Finally, head into ranked matches to test your neutral game and punish game. The combat system and controls pages pair well with this page for mechanical detail.
