Boss Guide#

Stellar Blade’s boss fights are the game’s centerpiece — each boss has a distinct attack pattern and phase transitions. This guide breaks down every boss’s mechanics and counters, from tutorial boss to final boss.

Universal Boss Tips#

Stellar Blade’s combat revolves around parries (perfect blocks) and dodges (perfect dodges) — mastering both is the foundation of every boss fight.

Tip Notes
Learn the tells Every boss attack has a visible windup animation — memorize which are blockable and which must be dodged. Blue-glow attacks can be parried; red-glow attacks must be dodged
Prioritize the perfect parry A perfect parry not only negates the attack but opens counter windows and charges burst energy. Follow a perfect parry with a light attack to trigger a pursuit skill — damage plus posture break
Use Timestall The Timestall burst skill works against nearly every boss — it buys huge damage windows. Use it as your first burst skill after the fight starts — roughly 30% extra HP gone early
Bank Beta energy Keep at least one Beta bar for emergencies — some bosses have fast combos that need interrupting with Beta skills. Beta skills grant hyper armor, letting you fight back mid-combo
Use terrain Some boss attacks can be blocked with pillars or terrain — Abyss’s screen-wide acid rain can be avoided behind a pillar
Drone pressure Continuous drone attacks in boss fights maintain posture damage and speed up staggering. Drone attacks also charge Beta energy efficiently
Don’t get greedy Stellar Blade’s boss rhythm is “defend → punish → defend” — greed is the number one cause of sudden death. After one safe combo, immediately reset to defense

Chapter 1 Boss: Brute#

Attribute Value
Difficulty ★★☆☆☆ (Introductory)
Type Heavy humanoid
Weakness Long recovery animations; big punish windows after dodges

Brute is the tutorial boss — designed to teach perfect parries and dodges. His attacks are slow with clear windups, perfect for practice.

Phase 1 (100%-50%)

Attack Type Response
Giant fist sweep Parryable Perfect parry → punish
Stomp Parryable Dodge to the side
Dash charge Unblockable (red) Sidestep
Double fist slam Parryable Parry the first hit → dodge the AOE

Phase 2 (50%-0%): adds a triple ground slam (parry ×3 → punish) and a screen-wide shockwave (red — jump over it).

Detailed attack analysis:

Attack Trigger Damage Punish timing
Giant fist sweep Player at close-mid range Medium After a perfect parry — ~2 second window
Double fist slam Player directly in front High Parry the first fist, dodge the AOE → 1.5 second window
Dash charge Player at range High (red) / high After a sidestep — ~1 second window
Screen shockwave (P2) Always on phase transition Medium Jump timing: the instant the ground ripple spreads

NG+ changes:

  • P1 adds a double dash charge (red ×2 → chained dodges)
  • P2 shockwaves speed up — jump timing gets stricter
  • A quick slam follows the screen shockwave

Chapter 2 Boss: Stalker#

Attribute Value
Difficulty ★★★☆☆ (Medium)
Type Agile humanoid
Weakness Brief stagger after attacks — windows are short

Stalker is the first real test — fast and relentless, it stresses your reactions.

Phase 1 (100%-50%): rapid triple slash (chain perfect parries → punish), blink stab (red — dodge on audio cue), thrown blades (parryable, reflectable), backstep shot (parry or dodge in).

Phase 2 (50%-0%): clone attacks (find the real body — watch for animation differences), shadow barrage (red — chain dodges), finisher combo (parry everything for a big stagger).

Detailed attack analysis:

Attack Type Phase Punish window
Rapid triple slash All parryable P1 After 3 perfect parries — ~3 second window
Blink stab Red — must dodge P1 ~1 second after the dodge — little follow-up
Thrown blades Parryable, reflectable P1 Stagger after a reflect — ~2 seconds at mid range
Clone attack Special mechanic P2 After the real body attacks — ~1.5 seconds. Judge the real one by animation smoothness
Shadow barrage Red ×5 chained P2 After 5 chained perfect dodges — ~3 second window
Finisher combo Parry ×4 + red finisher P2 Parry the first 4 → dodge the red → ~4 second window

NG+ changes:

  • The blink stab becomes a high-speed chain — dodge red ×3
  • Clone attacks now field 3 clones (previously 2)
  • P2 adds a shadow zone — black patches on the ground that drain HP

Chapter 3 Boss: Abyss#

Attribute Value
Difficulty ★★★☆☆ (Medium)
Type Large Naytiba
Weakness Slow-moving, but each hit hits like a truck

A giant boss — slow, but every landed attack is devastating. The key is never getting touched.

Phase 1 (100%-60%): giant claw sweep (parry → punish), tentacle pierce (red — dodge off the ground marker), acid spray (sidestep or parry), tail swipe (jump or back-dodge).

Phase 2 (60%-0%): screen-wide acid rain (red — run to clean ground), berserk combo (parry all 4 → huge punish window), devour (mash to escape when grabbed).

Detailed attack analysis:

Attack Type Phase Tell Response
Giant claw sweep Parryable P1 Big windup on a wide swing Perfect parry → 2 seconds of damage
Tentacle pierce Red P1 Ground marker — red circle Dodge out of the circle
Acid spray Parryable P1 Head lowers to charge — frontal cone Sidestep or parry
Tail swipe Red — unblockable P1 Tail glows as it turns Jump or back-dodge
Screen acid rain Special P2 Roars skyward → rain everywhere Run to a clean zone — 3 fixed positions
Berserk combo Parry ×4 P2 4 chained claw strikes, accelerating Perfect parry ×4 → 5 second window
Devour Special P2 Charges mouth-first; grabbing drains massive HP Mash O to break free

NG+ changes:

  • Acid rain safe zones shrink from 3 to 2 — positioning gets stricter
  • Berserk combo goes from 4 hits to 6 — but the punish window extends to 7 seconds
  • New tentacle frenzy — indiscriminate attacks from multiple tentacles; keep dodging
  • Acid spray leaves lingering acid pools — ongoing damage

Chapter 4 Boss: Raven#

Attribute Value
Difficulty ★★★★☆ (Hard)
Type Humanoid boss
Weakness Fixed attack rhythm — predictable

Raven is one of the game’s hardest bosses — a three-phase fight with different patterns per phase. Prepare for repeated attempts.

Phase 1 (100%-60%): sword-wave slash (perfect parry → punish), blink combo (parry the first 2 → dodge the red), shadow rush (red — sidestep), knife throws (parry to reflect).

Phase 2 (60%-30%): clone sword array (track the shadow trails → dodge the final strike), rapid slashes + finisher (parry the first 3 → dodge the red finisher), dark field (red — leave the black patches).

Phase 3 (30%-0%): full assault (alternate parries and dodges → wait for your moment), ultimate slash (red — perfect dodge → big punish time), afterimage combo (perfect parry everything → execution-grade window).

Detailed attack analysis:

Attack Type Phase Tell Response
Sword-wave slash Parryable P1 Sword charges → horizontal wave Perfect parry → punish
Blink combo Parry ×2 → red P1 Vanishes → reappears → first 2 parryable, third red Parry → parry → dodge
Shadow rush Red P1 Becomes a fast dark streak Dodge the instant you hear the cue
Knife throws Parryable, reflectable P1 Backstep + 3 knives Perfect parry all three to damage Raven
Clone sword array Special P2 Clones surround → sword rain Track the shadow trails — dodge the final blade
Rapid slashes + finisher Parry ×3 → red P2 Fast triple → red finisher Parry 3 → dodge the finisher → 4 second window
Dark field Special P2 Black circles on the floor — damage over time Leave the black patches fast
Ultimate slash Red — perfect-dodge window P3 Locks on → giant sword wave falls Perfect dodge → ~5 second window — this fight’s biggest punish
Afterimage combo All perfect parry P3 Multiple afterimages strike in sequence Perfect parry everything → 7 second execution-grade window

NG+ changes:

  • P1 blink combo goes from 3 hits to 5 (parry ×3 → red ×2)
  • P2 sword array doubles — two consecutive sword rains
  • P3 ultimate slash chains into a quick horizontal slash — one more dodge after the perfect dodge
  • New P3.5 phase (around 15% HP) — screen-wide shadow burst; move around the shadow orbs
  • Enrage timer — past 8 minutes of fighting, attack frequency spikes

Final Boss: Democrawler#

Attribute Value
Difficulty ★★★★★ (Brutal)
Type Ultimate Naytiba
Weakness Some attacks have fixed rhythms you can punish

The game’s hardest fight — three phases plus extreme damage. Come in at max level with a full build.

Phase 1 (100%-70%): light-sword combo (perfect parry ×4 → punish), energy wave (jump or parry), blink charge (red — dodge on audio cue), gravity field (back off and wait it out).

Phase 2 (70%-35%): wing slash (parry → punish — enormous range), homing orbs (red — circle the arena so they hit walls), screen laser (red — hide behind pillars), clone summons (clear clones → focus the body).

Phase 3 (35%-0%): continuous light-sword storm (parry/dodge alternately for ~15 seconds — pure endurance), doomsday blast (red — arena edges are safe), final execution (last stand — perfect parry everything to trigger the ending cinematic).

Detailed attack analysis:

Attack Type Tell Response
Light-sword combo Parryable ×4 4 even-speed sword swings Perfect parry ×4 → 3 second window
Energy wave Parryable Sword raised → ground shockwave spreads Jump or parry — jumping clears it overhead
Blink charge Red — unblockable Vanishes → charges from ahead with an audio cue Perfect dodge the instant the cue sounds
Gravity field Special Sword plants → purple gravity zone Retreat out of range and wait
Wing slash Parryable Light wings spread → massive horizontal slash Parry → 2 second window
Homing orbs Red — unblockable Releases multiple tracking orbs Circle the arena so they slam the walls
Screen laser Red — unblockable Wings glow → laser sweeps the arena Hide behind the pillars
Clone summons Special Summons 2 clones to assist Kill clones first — they’re frail
Light-sword storm Parry + dodge alternating ~15 seconds of alternating parries and red glows, accelerating Stay calm — judge each move independently. Dodge red, parry blue
Doomsday blast Red — edges safe Screen-wide blast; center hits hardest Run to the arena’s edge
Final execution Triggered by perfect parries

NG+ changes:

  • Boss attack speed up ~15% across all phases
  • P2 homing orbs double (4 → 8)
  • P3 adds a triple energy wave — chain three jumps or parries
  • Enrage mechanic — after the timer, every attack becomes an unblockable red glow
  • The final execution’s parry window shrinks — tighter timing required

Hidden Boss: Ancient Guardian#

Attribute Value
Difficulty ★★★★☆ (Hard)
Unlock condition Find and activate 3 ancient stone tablets in the Great Desert
Recommended level 35+

The Ancient Guardian fights differently from the story bosses — slower, but with far higher single-hit damage. Red-glow attacks have very short windups — fast reactions required. Defeating it drops one of the game’s strongest Exospines.

Detailed attack analysis:

Attack Type Tell Response
Hammer slam Parryable Raises the stone hammer → wide shockwave on impact Perfect parry the hammer → jump the shockwave
Spinning sweep Parryable — twice 360-degree hammer sweep ×2 Parry twice → ~2 second window
Rock throw Red — unblockable Rips a rock from the ground and hurls it Sidestep — the throw arcs
Earthquake Red — jumpable Double fist slam → screen shockwave; big windup but fast Jump the moment you see the slam
Hammer chase Parryable ×3 Three forward slams, each advancing Perfect parry ×3 → ~3 second window
Rage burst Red — special Below 30% HP — body glows → chained AOE bursts Back off and wait ~10 seconds for it to end

Key strategy: every attack is a big, open motion with a safe window after it. The difficulty isn’t combo length — it’s single-hit damage (one hit = half HP). Stay patient, don’t rush the kill — a 4-5 minute slow grind is the safe approach. Note: in NG+ this boss gains a third attack pattern — falling rocks — so keep moving.

NG+ changes:

  • HP doubled
  • New P2.5 phase (40% HP) — falling rocks + chained shockwaves
  • Earthquake becomes triple — three chained jumps required
  • Defeating it drops the Tyrant Exospine
