Advanced Strategy#
Once you’ve mastered the scoring and economy fundamentals, this chapter covers how to turn “winning occasionally” into “winning consistently”: build archetypes, deck sculpting, Boss counterplay and Endless thinking
Interest and Economic Tempo#
At the end of each round you earn $1 of interest per $5 saved (cap $5, $10 after Seed Money). Sitting on $25 means a free $5 every round — steadier than the economy effect of most transitional Jokers
| Ante | Economy strategy |
|---|---|
| 1-3 | Hold $25 for full interest — don’t buy Jokers you won’t use |
| 4-5 | Start investing in the build — but don’t let savings drop below $10-15 |
| 6-8 | Spend everything worth spending — build strength beats interest |
| Endless | Money is only for rerolling the shop to find pieces |
Build Archetypes and Core Jokers (Real Joker Names)#
| Archetype | Core hand | Key Jokers | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Baron/Steel build | High Card | Baron (Kings in hand ×1.5), Steel Joker, Blueprint, Brainstorm | Kings and Steel cards held in hand are the engine — play one High Card to clear |
| Flush build | Flush | Four Fingers (Flush/Straight with 4 cards), Smeared Joker (merges suits), Flower Pot (+Mult for all four suits) | Use Tarot to thin the deck and raise Flush density |
| Face card build | Pair / High Card | Photograph (first face card ×2), Smiley Face (face cards +5), Headline | Simple triggers, comes online fast |
| Bloodstone Flush build | Flush | Bloodstone (1/3 chance on Hearts ×2), Oops All 6s (doubles probabilities) | An RNG build with an extremely high ceiling |
| High Card build | High Card | Steel Joker, Matador, Emerald Totem-type Jokers | Play as few cards as possible — keep Steel cards in hand |
| Full House build | Full House | Triboulet (see Legendary Jokers for Triboulet-class effects) | K/Q ×2 scoring pairs naturally with Full House |
Community consensus on priorities: late game ×Mult > Chips > +Mult — a single ×2 Joker is worth more late than any +4-style additive Joker
Mult Stacking Principles#
Score = (base Chips + scoring Chips) × (base Mult + additive Mult) × (multiplicative Mult chain)
Add first, then multiply: +Mult resolves before ×Mult — so multiplicative Jokers feed on the total Mult that additions stacked up. Positioning: +Mult Jokers on the left, ×Mult on the right (scoring runs left to right)
| Combo | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Baron + 5 Kings (with Steel + Red Seal) | ×1.5 stacked as repeated powers | Exponential |
| Baron + Blueprint + Brainstorm | Copy effects multiply together | Same effect ×3 |
Deck Sculpting (Official Tarot Effects)#
| Action | Method | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Raise rank | Strength | Selected card’s rank +1 (2→3…K→A) |
| Copy card | Death | Select 2 — the left card becomes a copy of the right one (Enhancement retained) |
| Destroy | Hanged Man | Destroy 2 selected cards — the core deck-thinning tool |
| Make Steel | Chariot | Selected card becomes a Steel Card |
| Make Gold | King / Devil Tarot | Selected card becomes a Gold Card ($3 per round while held in hand) |
| Make Glass | Justice | Selected card becomes a Glass Card (×2 Mult, 1/4 chance to shatter) |
| Suit change | Smeared Joker | There is no official Tarot that changes suits — suit merging relies on Jokers |
Sculpting timing: don’t over-sculpt in the first 3 Antes — protect the build first. From Ante 5 on, thin in bulk; target 30-40 cards
Boss Blind Counterplay#
| Boss effect | Counterplay |
|---|---|
| Bans a hand type (e.g. Flush) | Prepare a second hand type 1-2 Antes ahead — or switch archetypes |
| Bans a suit | Reduce suit dependence with Four Fingers / Smeared, or pivot to Pairs |
| Discards disabled | Rely less on redraws — keep a stable hand type that doesn’t need discards |
| Fewer hands (e.g. only 1) | Stack maximum score into a single hand — upgrade Planet cards early |
| Cards destroyed / debuffed on entering the shop | Steel and Gold cards only work while held in hand — preserve them |
| Score requirement doubled (The Wall) | Check your build’s headroom — don’t clear by a hair |
Decision Framework for Skipping Blinds#
Skipping a Small or Big Blind grants a Tag — but skipping means giving up the cash reward, interest and one shop visit. Of the 24 official Tags, only a few cases are worth skipping:
| Situation | Decision |
|---|---|
| Investment Tag at Ante 1-2 | Worth skipping — $25 fills the interest line right away |
| Double Tag in the pile | Wait for the next high-value Tag and consume both together |
| Negative Tag (Ante 2+) | High value — a Negative Joker costs no slot |
| You need to reroll the Boss | The Boss Tag is a “reroll”, not a “skip the Boss” — mind the wording |
| Build not online yet | Don’t skip — the shop is worth more than most Tags |
| You’re holding Throwback | Throwback gains +×0.25 per Blind skipped — a dedicated tool for skip builds |
Three Layers of the Retrigger System#
| Layer | Component | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Card-native | Red Seal | One card triggers twice — standard for Steel cards and Kings |
| Joker-added | Sock and Buskin / Hack / Dusk | Extra triggers for specific cards or timings |
| Position optimization | Scoring order | Let Enhancement / Edition cards resolve at the right moment |
Stack all three: a King in hand with a Red Seal + Sock and Buskin = Baron triggers 3 times — ×1.5 cubed
Endless Mode Thinking#
| Ante | Score requirement (official) | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| 8 | 50,000 | The clear line |
| 12 | 300 million (3e8) | Needs 2 or more stable ×Mult sources |
| 16 | about 8.6e20 | Home turf of the Baron/Steel build |
| 20 | about 4.3e43 | All-Steel deck + a complete copy chain |
| 39 | about 4.8e309 → naneinf | The float limit — the theoretical end |
The Endless iron rule: Steel cards and Kings held in hand are the engine — play only one High Card per round; Blueprint / Brainstorm copy Baron; Red Seals make Steel cards trigger twice. Scores are an exponential game — any +Mult Joker can be cut after Ante 12
