Boss Guide#
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s base game holds roughly 30 bosses: 21 mandatory main-line bosses plus 9 side-quest bosses (some counts land on 31). No verifiable total exists for the three DLC packs combined, so we won’t write estimates like “40+.”
Every boss fight shares one core loop: deflect to chip Spirit → break the enemy’s Spirit → finish with a Fatal Strike. This page lists only verified boss information; anything unverified — weaknesses, moves, drops — is marked as such. No speculation.
The Verified Opening Order (First 5 Bosses)#
| # | Boss | Battlefield (official CN) | Verified Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Zhang Liang | Village of Calamity | First boss; Morale 10; weak to Fire, Metal, Wood; resists Earth, Water; two phases, demonized in the second |
| 2 | Zhuyan | Two Chivalrous Heroes | Mission assignment verified; weaknesses and other details pending |
| 3 | Fengxi | Two Chivalrous Heroes | Giant boar demon; weak to Fire; the second and final boss of “Two Chivalrous Heroes” |
| 4 | Zhang Bao | The Valley of the Crying Wraiths | Assignment verified; weaknesses and details pending |
| 5 | Zhang Jiao | The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven | Assignment verified; weaknesses and details pending |
Clarification: many older guides list Fengxi as the boss of “The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven” — that’s Zhang Jiao’s battlefield. Fengxi belongs to “Two Chivalrous Heroes,” and Zhang Bao holds “The Valley of the Crying Wraiths.”
Zhang Liang: The First Wall#
| Info | Notes |
|---|---|
| Battlefield | End of the chapter 1 main battlefield “Village of Calamity” |
| Morale | 10 |
| Weaknesses | Fire, Metal, Wood |
| Resistances | Earth, Water |
| Phases | Two phases; demonized in the second |
Fight framework (built on verified universal mechanics):
- Plant flags first: light every Battle Flag and Marking Flag in Village of Calamity to raise your Unwavering Rank. Zhang Liang sits at Morale 10 — the higher your actual morale, the smaller the stat gap.
- Bring a counter element: he’s weak to Fire, Metal, and Wood — carry one of the three as a weapon element or wizardry, and avoid Earth and Water.
- Deflect-first: meet his attacks with the just-before-contact deflect, then follow up to chip his Spirit.
- Handle phase two: the demonized phase changes his attack rhythm — watch for new wind-ups instead of reusing phase-one timing.
- Fatal Strike finish: the moment his Spirit breaks, press △ (PS) / Y (Xbox) / Shift + left click (PC).
Zhang Liang is widely regarded as the game’s deflect tutor; we haven’t documented a move-by-move breakdown. Mastering the “deflect → punish → Fatal Strike” loop is more transferable than memorizing any move list.
Two Chivalrous Heroes: Zhuyan and Fengxi#
“Two Chivalrous Heroes” is the second main battlefield and fields two bosses in one mission:
- Zhuyan: the opening opponent. Only its name and battlefield are verified so far; weaknesses and move breakdowns are pending.
- Fengxi: a giant boar demon and the second — final — boss of the mission, weak to Fire. Against a huge body, keep repositioning, punish after its swings whiff, and land the Fatal Strike once its Spirit breaks.
Zhang Bao and Zhang Jiao: The Yellow Turban Pair#
| Boss | Battlefield | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Zhang Bao | The Valley of the Crying Wraiths | Assignment verified; weaknesses, moves pending |
| Zhang Jiao | The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven | Assignment verified; weaknesses, moves pending |
These two anchor the Yellow Turban storyline. Details circulating in old guides — “Zhang Bao is weak to Earth” or “Zhang Jiao summons clones” — have no verifiable source and are not carried here.
Verified Battlefield Mapping#
A quick lookup table for the first five bosses against your mission list:
| Battlefield (official CN) | Verified Boss Assignment |
|---|---|
| Village of Calamity | Zhang Liang — first boss, Morale 10, weak Fire/Metal/Wood |
| Two Chivalrous Heroes | Zhuyan, Fengxi — Fengxi is the finale, weak Fire |
| The Valley of the Crying Wraiths | Zhang Bao |
| The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven | Zhang Jiao |
One more official mission name, “Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch,” is verified to exist; its boss assignment is unverified, so it’s not listed here yet.
Universal Boss Framework#
All of the following rest on verified universal mechanics and apply to any boss:
| Principle | Notes |
|---|---|
| Morale first | Plant flags before the fight: Battle Flags ≈ +2 Unwavering, Marking Flags ≈ +1 plus a full heal; a full flag set can push Unwavering to 20 |
| Read the overhead color | Yellow = 1–4 ranks above you, red = 5+; on red, go farm flags and grunts instead |
| Elemental counters | The cycle is Wood > Earth > Water > Fire > Metal > Wood; pick weapon element and wizardry for the boss’s weakness |
| Deflect loop | Press ○/B the instant before contact (PC: Tab/F/B group), then follow up; holding L1/LB early is just a block fallback |
| Fatal Strike timing | Trigger with △/Y/Shift + left click when enemy Spirit is broken or they’re unaware |
| Wizardry costs Spirit | Spells spend your own Spirit (default R2 + △/○/✕/□ / RT + Y/B/A/X) — don’t cast yourself into the red |
| Divine Beast support | Summon with △+○ (PS) / Y+B (Xbox); Resonance with □+✕ (PS) / X+A (Xbox) |
Pre-Boss Checklist#
| Check | Standard |
|---|---|
| Flags | All Battle Flags and Marking Flags in the battlefield lit, Unwavering pushed up |
| Morale gap | Enemy overhead showing yellow, not red |
| Element | Weapon element or wizardry matched to the boss’s weakness |
| Binds | Deflect and Fatal Strike keys comfortable (default Layout A, remappable) |
| Supplies | Fully stocked before leaving the last Battle Flag |
What This Page Doesn’t Cover#
No verifiable source exists yet for:
- The full roster, weaknesses, and move breakdowns of the remaining main-line and side bosses
- Per-boss equipment and Martial Arts drops
- The total boss count including all three DLC packs
- Official per-battlefield “recommended morale” values
Each will be added as it’s verified; until then, trust the game’s own behavior. For mechanics, start with Combat System and Beginner’s Guide; the main-line mission names behind the opening order can be cross-checked against the base-game info on Version Updates.
