Sekiro Achievements & Trophies#
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has 34 achievements on Steam. It’s a purely single-player game with no official difficulty selection, so all of the difficulty comes from the combat and collection themselves.
This page compiles the key achievement info we’ve verified, maps out how the four ending achievements correspond to routes, and lays out a platinum plan; anything we couldn’t verify is clearly flagged as such rather than invented.
Achievement Count and Playing Environment#
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Total achievements | 34 (Steam platform count) |
| Game mode | Purely single-player — no multiplayer mode, no official difficulty selection |
| Impact on achievements | No difficulty-tiered achievements; the pain points are boss fights, full collection, and multi-playthrough ending planning |
The Four Ending Achievements#
Each of the four endings corresponds to one achievement, listed with their official English names:
| Achievement (official English name) | Ending | Route essentials |
|---|---|---|
| Shura | Shura | When you speak with your foster father Owl at the Ashina Castle watchtower, choose “Obey the Iron Code, Forsake Kuro”, then defeat Emma, the Gentle Blade, followed by (elderly) Isshin Ashina; this route requires feeding no items |
| Immortal Severance | Immortal Severance | Choose “Break the Iron Code, Stay Loyal to Kuro” at the watchtower and defeat Owl, then play through normally, feeding only the Dragon’s Tears at the end |
| Purification | Purification | “Break the Iron Code” route: complete the Emma eavesdropping steps, obtain the Father’s Bell Charm, enter the three-years-ago Hirata Estate memory and defeat Owl (Father) to get the Everblossom, then feed the Dragon’s Tears and the Everblossom at the end |
| Dragon’s Homecoming | Dragon’s Homecoming | “Break the Iron Code” route: complete the long Divine Child of Rejuvenation questline at Senpou Temple to obtain the Frozen Tears, then feed the Dragon’s Tears and the Frozen Tears at the end |
Direction Choice Warning#
This is the easiest thing to get backwards in the entire achievement plan:
- “Shura” requires choosing “Obey the Iron Code, Forsake Kuro” — betraying the Divine Heir and siding with your foster father Owl;
- The other three endings (Immortal Severance, Purification, and Dragon’s Homecoming) all require choosing “Break the Iron Code, Stay Loyal to Kuro”.
The watchtower conversation is a strict either-or branch, and picking the wrong direction means waiting for a later playthrough to fix it. On top of that, the Shura route locks you out of Fountainhead Palace and other late-game areas, which cuts off part of that playthrough’s collection.
Verified Key Achievements (Non-Ending)#
| Achievement | Requirement | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| All Prosthetic Tools | Collect all 10 prosthetic tool types | The grappling hook is a function of the prosthetic arm itself and doesn’t count as a tool; Lapis Lazuli (dropped by the optional hidden boss Demon of Hatred) is used for the prosthetic’s final upgrades |
| Man Without Equal | Defeat every boss | One of the most time-consuming achievements in the game — it covers main-story, branching, and optional bosses |
| Height of Technique | Acquire every skill | The game’s other major time sink; there is no verifiable authoritative figure for the total skill points, so we make no specific claim about the count |
What We Haven’t Verified#
The full 34-achievement list — per-achievement names, trophy grades, and unlock conditions — hasn’t been recorded item by item in our fact sheet. To avoid misquoting, this page doesn’t list the names and conditions of the remaining achievements; treat the Steam achievements page or the in-game achievement list as the source of truth. If achievement names circulating in common guides (loose renderings like “Dragon Returns Home” or “the Good Ending”) don’t match the official English names listed here, the in-game text is what counts.
Platinum Route Plan#
| Stage | Goal | Rationale |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Clear the first playthrough aiming for Immortal Severance, collecting Prayer Beads and Gourd Seeds along the way | Immortal Severance needs only one fed item, the Dragon’s Tears, so it carries the lightest route burden |
| 2 | Collect all 40 Prayer Beads and 9 Gourd Seeds | With full collection, max health rises by 200% and the Healing Gourd can be used 10 times; 2 of the seeds have to be bought from merchants |
| 3 | Collect all 10 prosthetic tools and finish their final upgrades | The achievement requires all 10 tools; the Lapis Lazuli comes from the optional boss Demon of Hatred |
| 4 | Mop up the other three endings | “Obey the Iron Code” vs “Break the Iron Code” is an either-or branch, and Shura has to be run on its own route; Purification and Dragon’s Homecoming depend on the Everblossom and Frozen Tears respectively |
| 5 | Defeat every boss and acquire every skill | These correspond to the two most time-consuming achievements; wrap them up in the later stages of additional playthroughs |
Playthrough Planning Notes#
- The watchtower “Obey the Iron Code / Break the Iron Code” choice can only be made once per playthrough, so the Shura achievement can never be earned in the same run as any other ending achievement — all achievements take at least two playthroughs: at least one run on “Obey the Iron Code” for Shura, with the remaining endings planned from another run onward;
- The three “Break the Iron Code” ending lines each hinge on a different item chain (Dragon’s Tears / Everblossom / Frozen Tears), with Purification and Dragon’s Homecoming tied to fully finishing the Emma questline and the Divine Child of Rejuvenation questline respectively;
- How many playthroughs you budget and in what order you unlock the four endings comes down to your own route planning — we make no claims about a fixed formula.
Collection and NPC Reminders#
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Dragonrot | A true death can randomly infect NPCs with Dragonrot: the infected won’t die, but their questlines stall; the cure item (Dragon’s Blood Droplet in the English version) heals all current Dragonrot at any Sculptor’s Idol. Keep a supply of the cure before chasing any NPC-related goals |
| Prayer Bead sources | Elite enemies are the main source of Prayer Beads (roughly 30–37 elites), so don’t route around elites while clearing the map |
| Merchant stock | 2 Gourd Seeds must be bought: 1000 sen from the Battlefield Memorial Mob, 2000 sen from Fujioka the Info Broker |
FAQ#
Q: How many achievements are there in total?
A: 34 on Steam.
Q: What should I pick for the Shura achievement?
A: When you talk to your foster father Owl at the Ashina Castle watchtower, choose “Obey the Iron Code, Forsake Kuro”. It runs opposite to most ending routes, which is exactly why it’s the easiest branch to get backwards.
Q: Does beating the Demon of Hatred have anything to do with the ending achievements?
A: No direct link. The Demon of Hatred is an optional hidden boss that appears on the Ashina Outskirts after the Interior Ministry invasion, and the Lapis Lazuli it drops goes toward the prosthetic’s final upgrades; collecting all 10 prosthetic tools itself satisfies the corresponding achievement’s collection requirement.
Q: How many skill points do all skills take?
A: There is no verifiable authoritative figure for the total skill points — go by what the in-game skill tree actually costs, and we won’t invent a number.
Q: Do the Gauntlet and Reflection modes award achievements?
A: Our fact sheet doesn’t cover achievements tied to these two modes, so we make no assertion either way; Gauntlets reward outfits, while Reflection is practice combat with no reward output.
