Weapons Guide#
The weapon system of The First Berserker: Khazan is built on three types: Dual Wield, Greatsword and Spear. The three weapons’ stat scaling never overlaps: Dual Wield scales with Willpower and Strength, Greatsword with Strength and Proficiency, Spear with Proficiency and Willpower — understand which two stats your main weapon eats before you talk builds and stat allocation; that’s the starting point of any build in this game. This page breaks the weapon system down in the order of “stat scaling → how to obtain → rarity upgrades → blacksmith crafting → set system → choice guide”, with all set bonuses listed at their raw values.
Three Weapon Types and Stat Scaling#
| Weapon | Stat scaling | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Dual Wield | Willpower + Strength | First stat Willpower is the primary scaling, Strength is secondary |
| Greatsword | Strength + Proficiency | First stat Strength is the primary scaling, Proficiency is secondary |
| Spear | Proficiency + Willpower | First stat Proficiency is the primary scaling, Willpower is secondary |
Three allocation principles follow directly from the table:
- Pick the weapon first, then allocate: each weapon scales around exactly two stats, with the first stat as primary scaling — push the primary stat up first for maximum returns, then round out the secondary.
- Switching archetypes = switching allocation: a Spear main builds Proficiency plus Willpower; moving to Greatsword means pivoting to Strength plus Proficiency. The two directions don’t overlap at all — think it through before switching.
- Three independent skill trees: Dual Wield, Greatsword and Spear each have their own skill tree, so switching archetypes costs not just stat points but an entire tree’s worth of re-investment.
Dual Wield: Willpower + Strength#
Dual Wield’s primary scaling stat is Willpower, with Strength secondary. Fast swings and dense combos are its natural identity, with low pressure on mistakes — ideal as your first weapon for learning enemy rhythms in the early game. Once your hands settle, decide whether to go deep on Dual Wield or switch archetypes. On the gear side, Dual Wield lacks a dedicated combat set like the Fallen Nobility set, so its builds lean more on scattered-item affixes and Phantom passives; during your Lacrima farming grind, the Bard set can subsidize your resources.
Greatsword: Strength + Proficiency#
Greatsword’s primary scaling stat is Strength, with Proficiency secondary — it’s the “heaviest” weapon: single-hit power and stagger pressure are the best of the three, at the cost of slow swings and stricter stamina budgeting. It suits players who like the “hit and run” rhythm — catch the enemy staggered, land a heavy, disengage. Blacksmith crafting and boss drops both reliably produce Greatsword parts, and the Chronicle Greatsword from the anniversary gifts belongs to this family too.
Spear: Proficiency + Willpower#
The Spear’s primary scaling stat is Proficiency, with Willpower secondary. It’s widely considered the highest-ceiling weapon in the current version: its dedicated set, the Fallen Nobility set, is designed for Spear play, with the 5-piece and 6-piece bonuses tied directly to boosting the Full Moon skill family and Spiral Thrust; the Spear’s Moonlight stance build is also the strongest answer in the current meta. If you’re chasing meta strength, Spear plus the Fallen Nobility set is the highest-priority build route.
How to Obtain Weapons#
The weapons and their parts come through four channels, covering everything from early game to endgame:
| Channel | Details |
|---|---|
| Normal and elite enemies | Random weapon drops — a stable source while mapping, with better quality from elites |
| Chests | Fixed yields from map exploration; clear the guards before looting |
| Boss drops | The main source of set pieces and boss-exclusive materials — farm the matching boss repeatedly to complete a set |
| Blacksmith crafting | Craft gear at the blacksmith with materials; the quality cap unlocks as you progress |
The Rarity Upgrade Chain: From Battered to Sturdy#
Gear enhancement here isn’t a “+1, +2” level stack — at the blacksmith Qazumaka you spend materials and gold to raise an item’s rarity directly along the upgrade chain. The weapon chain has four tiers:
| Stage | Weapon rarity |
|---|---|
| First tier | Battered Blade |
| Second tier | Treated Blade |
| Third tier | Keen Blade |
| Fourth tier | Sturdy Blade |
Upgrade materials split into three material families matching the item types, tiered one-to-one with the chain above:
| Item type | Upgrade materials |
|---|---|
| Weapons | Blade materials: Battered Blade → Treated Blade → Keen Blade → Sturdy Blade |
| Accessories | Gem materials, covering the same four tiers |
| Armor | Shard materials, covering the same four tiers |
On upgrade costs, one directional rule suffices: gold and material costs keep rising with rarity — the deeper into the chain, the more each upgrade costs — so your material and Lacrima farming priority should climb together with your gear tier.
Blacksmith Crafting and Quality#
Blacksmith crafting is the fourth source of gear and the only one that can “produce on demand”. Three mechanics matter:
- Crafted quality depends on your current level: within the same stretch of progress, the higher your character level, the better the gear the blacksmith can produce — investment and output are directly linked.
- The blacksmith levels up: the blacksmith’s own level rises with progress, and the crafting cap rises with it.
- Epic tier is late-game only: the top Epic tier can only be crafted in the later game; don’t agonize over top gear early — stabilize your upgrade chain first.
One prerequisite: the blacksmith function itself unlocks after the “Blacksmith’s Legacy” side quest — do it as early as you can, since it also gates consumable crafting and set crafting.
The Set System: Scattered Items Versus Full Sets#
Sets are the core of the gear system, and the rules are crisp:
- Only same-name items count as a set: only same-name equipment assembled together forms a set; scattered items grant no set bonus no matter their quality.
- Random drops have no set bonus: same-name pieces from kills and chests are just “raw material for a set” — wearing them individually does nothing.
- Sets only work when crafted with set scrolls: at blacksmith Qazumaka, choosing “Craft Set” and spending that set’s set scroll is what activates the set bonus.
- Scrolls drop across the whole map: set scrolls come from pickups, elite drops and boss drops. Once you’ve picked a target set, farm scrolls with intent — far more efficient than aimless wandering.
Set Bonuses Overview#
The Fallen Nobility Set: The Spear Combat Set#
The Fallen Nobility set is the graduation set for Spear builds this patch, with every piece bonus designed around the Spear’s damage loop:
| Pieces | Effect |
|---|---|
| 2 pieces | Charged damage +10% |
| 3 pieces | Stamina recovery after edge dodge +25% |
| 4 pieces | Damage against exhausted state +10% |
| 5 pieces | Full Moon skill family damage +15% |
| 6 pieces | Spiral Thrust damage +15% |
Before you complete six pieces, the 2-piece charged damage and 3-piece dodge stamina recovery benefit any Spear build, so use them as you collect; when a boss enters the exhausted state, the 4-piece bonus is your execute window.
The Bard Set: The Non-Combat Farming Set#
The Bard set doesn’t serve combat — it exists purely to accelerate resource accumulation:
| Pieces | Effect |
|---|---|
| 2 pieces | 80% stamina recovery |
| 3 pieces | High-tier drops +20% |
| 4 pieces | Weapon drops +15% |
| 5 pieces | Lacrima gain +25% |
The usage is straightforward: switch in while farming gold and materials, dodge everything while mapping, and swap back to your combat set before entering a boss room. It’s the economic engine that lays the groundwork for combat sets like the Fallen Nobility set.
Other Known Sets#
| Set | Role and source |
|---|---|
| Deep Shadow set | Known for the highest defense — the tanking direction |
| Frozen Mountain set | Drops from Yetuga |
| Soul Devourer set | Drops from the Blade Phantom |
| Drowned Witch set | Drops from Trokka |
| Immortal Tragedy set | Drops from Princess Irina |
| Faded Memory set | Drops from Reese |
Every source above is that boss’s exclusive drop — to complete a set, farm the matching boss repeatedly. Bosses can be re-fought, and set pieces plus exclusive materials keep accumulating with every kill.
Phantoms, Stat Rerolls and Transmog#
- Phantoms are not weapons: Phantoms slot into Blade Nexus nodes and provide passive boosts — an independent build dimension that runs parallel to, not against, the weapon system.
- Blacksmith stat changes: the blacksmith offers stat alteration, adjusting an item’s affixes — when farming refuses to drop your ideal affixes, this is the only correction tool. Armor affix additions and rerolls also happen at the blacksmith.
- Transmog unlocks in NG+: the Transmog function only unlocks after entering NG+, separating looks from stats so your build no longer has to bow to fashion.
Anniversary Gifts: The Immortal Wrath Set#
The anniversary gifts are the Immortal Wrath set — three weapons covering every weapon category: the Chronicle Greatsword, the Immortal Adamant Dual Blades and the Crimson Vanguard Spear. The three weapons scale on different stats, making them perfect “trial kits” for the three archetypes — use whichever matches your allocation direction.
Weapon Choice Guide#
| Your situation | Suggested direction |
|---|---|
| New player | Start Dual Wield, settle on an archetype once enemy rhythms feel familiar |
| Chasing meta strength | Spear plus the Fallen Nobility set, built around the Full Moon family and Spiral Thrust |
| Love heavy hits | Greatsword, main Strength, built around charged attacks and stagger |
| Short on Lacrima and materials | Swap to the Bard set and farm dedicated, then switch back |
| Tanking playstyle | Deep Shadow set, stacking defense for a steady grind |
| Stuck on a boss | First check whether your set was crafted with a scroll — scattered pieces have no set bonus |
One final pass through the whole loop: pick your weapon direction → allocate with the primary stat first → farm the matching bosses for set scrolls and pieces → “Craft Set” at the blacksmith → raise rarity along the upgrade chain → verify output at the training area before heading out. Once this cycle flows, the weapon system stops being a pile of drops and becomes a clear power route.
