Performance Optimization Tips#
These tips can help you raise your frame rate without sacrificing too much visual quality:
1. Enable DLSS or FSR
DLSS (for NVIDIA RTX cards) and FSR (for AMD and most other cards) are the single most effective way to raise your frame rate. With upscaling enabled, the game renders at a lower resolution and then enlarges the image algorithmically — the visual loss is minimal while the frame rate gain is significant. Quality mode looks closest to native rendering, while Performance mode prioritizes smoothness.
2. Lower shadow quality
Shadows are one of the most expensive settings. Dropping from Very High to High yields a clear frame rate gain with very little visual difference.
3. Turn off ray tracing
Ray tracing has an enormous performance impact. If your frame rate is not satisfactory, turn it off first.
4. Adjust draw distance
Lowering the draw distance reduces long-range rendering workload and noticeably helps the frame rate.
5. Disable motion blur
Motion blur adds a cinematic feel, but disabling it slightly improves performance, and some players simply prefer a cleaner image.
Accessibility Options#
Black Myth: Wukong offers a range of accessibility settings so more players can enjoy the game:

Troubleshooting#
If you run into control or performance problems, try the following:
Problem: controller not recognized
- Fix: make sure the controller is connected via USB or paired over Bluetooth, then restart the game and try again
Problem: keyboard & mouse input lag
- Fix: disable V-Sync, or switch to borderless windowed mode
Problem: unstable frame rate
- Fix: cap the frame rate at 60, turn off dynamic resolution, and enable DLSS or FSR
Problem: screen tearing
- Fix: enable V-Sync, or use a G-Sync/FreeSync compatible monitor
Problem: unresponsive keys
- Fix: check for conflicts with other input devices, confirm whether the input mode is keyboard & mouse or controller, and restore default bindings if necessary
Problem: high CPU usage
- Fix: set the game process priority to High in Task Manager and close unrelated background programs that use CPU
Advanced Combat Controls#
Once you know the basic bindings, these techniques can noticeably improve your combat performance:
- Light and heavy attacks can be freely chained into combos of different lengths; during a heavy attack charge you can cancel the recovery animation with a dodge
- When dodge rolling, dodge sideways relative to the enemy’s movement direction rather than straight back — it makes counterattacks much easier to connect
- Switching stances mid-combo unlocks derived moves; flexibly using all three stances lets you handle different enemies
- After locking on, moving the camera will not drop the lock, which is ideal against fast-moving bosses
- Drinking from the Gourd has a brief recovery animation, so use it from a safe distance or while the enemy is staggered
