Boss Guide#

Boss fights in Hades II close out every region — each boss has unique attack patterns and phase changes. Mastering these fights is the key to escaping the Underworld.

Region 1 Boss#

Hecate#

Attribute Detail
Region Erebus
Phases 2 phases
Main attack types Magick barrages + staff melee + clone summons
Difficulty Moderate — the first wall for new players

Phase 1 attack patterns:

Attack Telegraph Counter
Magick orbs Raises her staff to gather energy — fires 3 homing orbs Dash through the orbs — don’t run backward. Dash sideways or toward the boss
Staff sweep The staff glows — a 180-degree sweep Jump-dodge it — the sweep is wide but the space above is safe
Ground shockwave Staff slams the floor — a circular shockwave expands Jump over it before it arrives — or dash behind the boss
Clone summon Backs off — summons 2 clones to attack together Clones have 1 HP — clear them fast. Don’t get pinched between clones and the real body

Phase 2 (HP ≤ 50%):

Change Detail
Denser barrages Magick orbs double in speed and increase to 5 orbs
Spinning attack Spins her staff continuously — a 360-degree attack lasting 3 seconds
Enhanced clones Clones now use magick orb attacks, not just melee

Recommended build: a ranged weapon (Umbral Flames or Argent Skull) + dash boons (such as Poseidon’s dash knockaway)

Region 2 Boss#

Scylla and the Sirens#

Attribute Detail
Region Oceanus
Phases 3 phases — each siren fights in sequence
Order Random — differs every run

The three sirens explained:

Siren Attack pattern Weakness
Heavy siren Slow + high damage — ground shockwaves + spinning saw blades. Big attack range Slow movement — open up distance and hit from range
Speed siren Fast + multi-hit — dash combos + diving attacks. Fast but low damage Use area attacks — she pauses briefly after dashing
Magick siren Ranged barrages + summons + teleport. The most annoying one Pressure her up close — her direction is fixed after teleporting

Recommended build: any weapon + wide-area AoE boons (such as Zeus lightning + Poseidon flood)

Region 3 Boss#

Chronos#

Attribute Detail
Region Tartarus
Phases 3 phases — attack patterns change drastically each phase
Difficulty Extreme — the hardest boss in the game right now

Phase 1 (HP 100%–66%):

Attack Counter
Time blades Summons delayed slashes — red warning zones appear on the ground; the slash lands 1.5 seconds later Dodge after seeing the red circle — don’t stand on it. Don’t dodge too early because the slash tracks your position
Time stop Chronos freezes time — everything stops except you. Then he attacks your position Move to a safe spot during the freeze — then dash away from the attack
Clock hands Clock-hand-shaped projectiles fan out from the boss, rotating slowly Move along the hands’ rotation — don’t get surrounded

Phase 2 (HP 66%–33%):

New attack Detail
Time rifts Time rifts appear on the field — standing on one deals continuous damage + slows you Keep moving — never stand still for more than 2 seconds
Accelerated combos Chronos gains attack speed — melee combo speed doubles Rely more on dashing — trading melee blows head-on always loses
Hourglass barrage Calls hourglasses down from the sky — yellow warning circles on the ground Watch the yellow circles — don’t stand in them. The hourglasses explode on landing, leaving area damage

Phase 3 (HP ≤ 33%):

Change Detail
Full-screen barrage Clock hands + hourglasses + rifts all at once — hazard zones everywhere
Time frenzy Chronos enters a frenzy — all attack speeds +50%
Revival disabled Death Defiance revives don’t trigger in this phase — zero mistakes allowed

Recommended build: a high-burst weapon (Sister Blades or Moonstone Axe) + defensive boons (Athena dash deflect + Aphrodite damage reduction)

Optional Bosses#

Charybdis the Devouring#

Attribute Detail
Location A hidden door in the Rift of Thessaly — you can pass it by without ever fighting
Reward No specific drops — the fight itself is the prize
Difficulty Moderate — easier than Chronos
Attack pattern Massive swallowing attacks + area hazards. Fight from the flanks, never head-on

Infernal Cerberus#

Attribute Detail
Location The Fields of Mourning — a full region Guardian on the underworld route
Reward Tears (region reward)
Difficulty Very high — comparable to Chronos
Attack pattern Three heads attacking independently — fire head (ranged fireballs), frost head (slowing zones), lightning head (fast shocks)

Weapon Ratings for Boss Fights#

Weapon Hecate Sirens Chronos Overall
Umbral Flames B (can kite at range but low damage) A (tracking Special works well) B (needs sustained output — Flames lack burst) B — balanced but unremarkable
Sister Blades A (high charged burst — fast kills) B (blades are slow against the speed siren) S (huge burst — Chronos’s windows are short but blade hits land hard) A — high burst, high risk
Moonstone Axe B (average — similar to Flames but slower) A (wide sweeps hit all three sirens) A (safe mid-range output + coverage) A — the most balanced strong weapon
Argent Skull A (safe at range — easy kiting) C (slow projectiles — hard to hit moving targets) B (ranged but demands precision) B — strong against specific bosses
Sister Blades (aggression) S (attack speed so fast Hecate gets locked down) A (fast target switching — agile among the sirens) C (fast but low damage — Chronos’s short windows yield little) B — a mob-clearing machine, average vs. bosses
Black Coat A (mid-long range + missile pods) B (pod retrieval is mediocre against groups) B (keeps a safe distance but average damage) B — safe but unremarkable damage

Universal Boss-Fight Tips#

Tip Detail
Dash direction In most cases, dashing toward the boss is safer than dashing away. Backward dashes often land inside a chase attack’s range
Boon priority Before a boss, make sure your build has come together. Dash boons > Cast boons > Attack boons > Special boons. Dashes get the most use
Keepsake strategy Region 1: run an offensive keepsake (the Artemis keepsake) to grab boons faster → switch to defensive (Athena’s keepsake) before region 2 → burst-oriented (Ares’ keepsake) for region 3
Death Defiance management If only one Death Defiance remains, consider returning to camp to refill before the boss. Never enter a boss fight on empty health
Use the arena Every boss arena has pillars/obstacles at the edges — use them to block barrages and trap boss movement

FAQ#

Question Answer
Which boss is hardest? Chronos — a multi-phase fight with time reversal and space-warping mechanics, and almost no error margin
How do I find boss weaknesses? Watch the boss’s element — shadow fears light, ice fears fire, fire fears water — then pick boons accordingly
Best boss order? Hecate (practice) → Scylla and the Sirens → Infernal Cerberus → Charybdis (optional) → Chronos (final)
Are optional bosses worth it? Yes — Cerberus pays out Tears for progression, and Charybdis is a great skill check
Are Calls useful in boss fights? Extremely — save your Call for Chronos’s second phase and interrupt him during time reversal

Boss Fight Essentials#

Boss Boons to bring Key dodge Recommended weapon
Hecate Dash + healing Watch the shadow clones — the real body has longer recovery Sister Blades
Scylla and the Sirens Area damage Pick them off one at a time — kill the healer first Moonstone Axe
Chronos High burst + Calls Block instantly during time stop — unload damage during reversal Umbral Flames
Charybdis Control boons Keep moving — its swallowing attacks come fast Umbral Flames
Infernal Cerberus Ice + fire resistance The three heads attack in rotation — pick them apart Moonstone Axe

FAQ#

Question Answer
General boss tips? Watch the attack patterns first and don’t get greedy — every boss has recovery windows where you can safely deal damage
Best boons for bosses? Ares crits + Demeter chill — slowed movement + high burst. Athena’s deflect blocks many abilities outright
Boss HP estimates? Hecate roughly 10,000 HP, the sirens about 15,000, Chronos about 30,000 (all phases combined)
When should I use my Call in boss fights? When the boss winds up a big move or right as phase two begins — that maximizes the payoff
Which boss should I challenge first? Hecate → sirens → optional bosses → Chronos — scale the difficulty gradually
How do I beat Chronos phase 2? Burst him down during time reversal to interrupt — during space warps keep moving and never stop

Speed-Killing Hecate#

All of Hecate’s moves have long windups — the key is pulling the fight into mid range. When she summons shadow clones, clear the clones first; the real body’s recovery window is longer. Save your dash for her wide-range charged attacks, not for ordinary melee.

Dealing With the Sirens in Order#

The three sirens share the arena but each has her own mechanics. Focus down the controlling one first, then the healer, then the damage dealer. The healer periodically restores her sisters’ health — leave her up and the whole fight drags. Area damage boons are worth the most in this fight.

Chronos Phase Two Rhythm#

The time-reversal mechanic inverts your inputs — don’t chase damage there, stabilize your footwork first. When he raises his hand to count down, that’s your only safe damage window, and pairing it with a Call can dish out massive damage in one go. During the space-warp stage, keep circling and avoid the black hole’s pull.

Infernal Cerberus Tips#

The three heads attack in a fixed order — learn the rhythm and dash behind it to deal damage. Its fire breath has a very long windup — a free damage opportunity. Fire-resist gear or chill boons cut the pressure enormously.
