Aion 2 New Player FAQ#
Aion 2 (AION 2) Global opens in two steps between September 30 and October 5, 2026. The questions asked most around launch — when can I actually play, is my scale test progress still there, is there region locking, is Chinese supported, can my PC run it, what does membership really cover — all get answered in one place.
Every answer below carries a source label: conclusions drawn from roughly a year of Korean/Taiwan service operation are marked as KR/TW experience, and anything the global service has not officially confirmed is flagged as pending launch-week information. This FAQ never makes calls on the developers’ behalf.
Launch Timeline and Versions#
Q1: When exactly can I play Aion 2 Global?
Two milestones, two audiences:
| Date | Who gets in |
|---|---|
| September 30, 2026 | Early access opens for Founder’s Pack buyers only, running 5 days |
| October 5, 2026 | Free full launch, open to all players |
Distribution runs through Steam and NC’s own platform, PURPLE. It also helps to know that the Korean/Taiwan service launched back on November 19, 2025, so much of the system knowledge on this page — leveling pace, enhancement mechanics, the economy — comes from about a year of live operation. Global may adjust on top of that, which is exactly why every answer here repeats its source label.
Q2: I played the September 17-18 scale test. Are my character and progress still there?
No. The Launch Scale Test ran under these rules: level cap 37, 6 hours per day and 12 hours in total; the shop, trading exchange, Quna, the pass and membership were all disabled; day-one progress carried over, and everything was wiped once day two ended. So scale-test characters cannot be brought into the live game, and impressions formed during the test (such as the level 37 ceiling) do not carry over either — see Q10 for where the final level cap actually stands.
Q3: How do I get into early access? Can I still qualify now?
The only gate to early access is buying a Founder’s Pack, at three price tiers:
| Tier | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard | $24.99 |
| Deluxe | $49.99 |
| Ultimate | $99.99 |
All three tiers include 5 days of early access and the “Vanguard of Atreia” title. The higher tiers stack cosmetics on top — armor skins, weapon skins, a cosmetic crate, a black dragon pet, Blazing Sun wings — and each tier’s exact contents are shown live on the Steam and PURPLE purchase pages. Early access preloading opened on September 28 at 6 a.m. Pacific time. Whether eligibility can still be purchased after launch follows whatever the store pages state.
Q4: What actually differs between the 5 days of early access and the October 5 full launch?
Two differences can be stated with confidence. First, the audience: early access is limited to Founder’s Pack buyers, while full launch opens to everyone. Second, the optional monthly membership does not go on sale until October 5 at 6 a.m. Pacific time, so it cannot be bought during early access. As for how the shop, the pass, the Abyss and other systems open in each phase, officials have not published a citable side-by-side comparison — launch-week announcements and live global testing are the authority there.
Platforms, Client and System Requirements#
Q5: Which platforms is the game on, and when can I preload?
The global version is PC-exclusive, and the only official storefronts are Steam and PURPLE. The preload rhythm so far: the scale test preload landed on September 16; the early access preload opens September 28 (from 6 a.m. Pacific time); the preload window for the October 5 full launch follows official announcements.
Q6: What are the minimum requirements? Can my PC run it?
According to Chinese media reports, the minimum specs are as follows (note: this comes from a single channel and has not yet been cross-checked against the Steam store page — the official spec sheet is final):
| Item | Minimum requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| CPU | i5-10500 or R5 2600 |
| GPU | GTX 1050 Ti / RX 470 (4GB) |
| RAM | 8GB |
| Storage | 100GB SSD |
Two practical notes. A 100GB install is no small footprint, so leave plenty of SSD headroom before you start. And since this is a large-scale Unreal Engine 5 MMO, machines sitting right on the minimum line should wait for real launch-week performance reports before locking in a graphics preset — don’t rush the judgment.
Q7: Is Chinese supported?
According to Chinese media reports, the global version supports 10 languages, including both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. One caveat: this figure currently comes from a single Chinese media channel, and the actual language list inside the game is what counts.
Separately, the official Chinese names of all eight classes — Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter — were confirmed in the Chinese launch article, and the class pages on this site use that same set. Treat those names as canonical when matching classes.
Servers and Account Data#
Q8: How do I pick a server? What’s the deal with the five regions?
Global servers cover five regions: North America West, North America East, Central Europe, South America and Japan; Southeast Asia and Oceania have no dedicated servers yet (per media reports). Two things matter most when choosing:
- Latency and social play — who you play with and when you are usually online matters far more than the server’s name
- Economy — the auction house runs per-server, so prices and grinding returns never carry across servers
Launch provides 4 character slots, enough to sample several classes on one server. Keep in mind, though: your faction decides your starting zone and your side in faction warfare, and it cannot be changed within the same server — Q13 expands on this. The complete reasoning on version and server decisions also lives in the beginner’s guide and opening walkthrough.
Q9: Is there region locking? Can I play with friends on the Korean/Taiwan service?
Only the second half has a firm answer: Global and the Korean/Taiwan services do not share data, and multiple sources agree on this point. To play with friends, choose the same version and the same server.
On region locking, two conflicting media reports currently coexist: one says the five-region servers are open without locks, the other says servers are divided by region with IP restrictions attached. Officials have not issued a unified statement, so this site takes no absolute position — after launch, your region’s actual access experience and official announcements are the authority.
Q10: What is the level cap? Is it 45?
The final global level cap has not been announced, and three figures currently coexist: the scale test capped at 37; the Korean service currently sits at 50; community resources mostly assume 45 for global. Every “unlocks at level 45” statement on this page — Abyss access, high-end dungeons, the fully open economy — is based on KR/TW experience. If the global cap turns out different, the entire progression curve shifts as a block, and launch-week information is the final word; any pacing changes will be folded into the leveling route and quest planning guide.
Payments, Membership and Trading#
Q11: Does the game cost money? What does the $15 monthly membership cover?
The base game is free to play with in-app purchases. The optional monthly membership is priced at $15/month and goes on sale October 5 at 6 a.m. Pacific time; its core benefits are unlocking full auction house functionality and player-to-player trading.
Some background worth knowing: the Korean launch ran a heavier business model — stacked with a subscription, monthly spending briefly reached $40-50, and the shop sold combat-related items until fierce player backlash forced a rework. The global version uses that simplified model. Some reports also state that every Founder’s Pack tier bundles 30 days of membership — a single-media claim not verified on the store pages, so trust the purchase page before buying.
Q12: Can I play normally without membership? How do game currency and cash currency convert?
The economy runs on a dual-currency structure: in-game Kinah and premium Quna, with a built-in two-way exchange between the two. Per KR/TW experience, free players can earn Kinah from dungeon output and crafting, then convert it into Quna through the exchange to buy shop items — that “farm game currency, swap for cash currency” loop exists precisely for players who don’t pay.
Whether membership is worth it depends on how much you trade: full auction house features and player-to-player trading sit behind it, so anyone oriented toward trading and market flipping should factor $15/month into their costs. A fuller breakdown of the economy is in the economy and trading guide.
Classes and Gameplay Basics#
Q13: Which class should I pick? Can I switch factions after choosing wrong?
The irreversible part first: faction decides your starting zone (the Elyos’ bright green mainland versus the Asmodians’ snowy tundra and volcanic canyons), your appearance (white-and-gold feathered wings versus black bat wings) and your side in large-scale faction warfare — none of it can be changed on the same server, so think it through before creating your character.
On classes, global launches with 8 classes across four archetypes — Warrior, Scout, Mage and Priest — with no gender or faction restrictions: both factions can play every class. Two structural facts are worth weighing: the Cleric is the game’s only main healer and the Templar its main tank, and both are permanently scarce under 5-man dungeon and 10-man raid rosters. Korea added a ninth class, Brawler, in July 2026, but it is not part of the global launch lineup. For selection logic see the class system overview; detailed healer and tank breakdowns are in Cleric and Chanter and Templar and Gladiator.
Q14: I heard this game has no auto-combat? How much does that hurt leveling efficiency?
Aion 2 has no auto-combat, no auto-pathing and no idle grinding. Combat is hybrid: pure target locking is gone, with aim-based skills blended into real-time dodging, blocking, combos, backstabs and positioning.
The leveling impact cuts both ways. The AFK grinding route simply does not exist, so leveling runs on active participation in main quests and dungeons; on the flip side, focusing the main story pays better — per KR/TW experience, skilled players reach level 45 in as fast as 1 day, while typical players take 2-3 days. Aerial combat is fully manual too: altitude, aerial dodges and three-dimensional positioning can decide fights outright, and launched enemies can be juggled with air combos. Fundamentals are covered in the aerial combat guide.
Q15: Do pets and wings add combat power? How do I claim the pre-registration pet?
Global files both under cosmetics and convenience rather than combat power: wings are purely visual with zero stat bonuses, and the pet level cap is lowered from Korea’s 5 to 3, with 200+ pets catchable in the wild that double as mounts and auto-loot items (auto-looting consumes Kinah). Real combat growth runs through gear enhancement and horizontal progression systems — where to invest is covered in the gear acquisition and enhancement guide.
On pre-registration rewards, Chinese media reports say players who registered early can claim the exclusive pet Pagati plus an extra pet of their choice after launch — a single-source claim, and the actual claim entry is the in-game event page. The mechanical boundaries of wings and the full cosmetic system are covered in the flight and wings guide.
Status Notes#
Finally, everything this page could not settle and launch week needs to verify — we will backfill each item as answers arrive:
